French President Emmanuel Macron says France could recognise Palestine as soon as June.

Even though Palestine has been recognised as a sovereign state by almost 150 countries, most major Western powers have not, including the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Japan.
France has long championed a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, but formal recognition by Paris of a Palestinian state would mark a major policy switch.

00:00We need to be recognized.
00:02And so, in the next few months, we will go.
00:04And I will not do it for unity or for pleasure to tell or tell.
00:08I will do it because I think that at a moment,
00:10it will be just and because I want to participate
00:13in a collective dynamic.
00:15It is also to allow all those who defend the Palestine
00:18to recognize Israel, what many of them do not,
00:21to fight against those who need the right of Israel to exist,
00:24which is the case of Iran,
00:26and to engage in a collective security of the region.
00:28And our goal is, in June, with the Saudi Arabia,
00:31to present this conference,
00:33where we could finalize the movement
00:34of reciprocal recognition.
00:36And our goal is to be a contemporary to speak an limited
00:37presentation of the European Mandel.
