A 44-year-old man in Thrissur, Kerala, tragically lost his life after being hit by a truck while rescuing a kitten.

00:00This 44-year-old man, Saijo Timothy from Thrissur, Kerala lost his life on 8th April 2025 while
00:10attempting to rescue an injured kitten stuck on a rather busy road. According to eyewitnesses,
00:14the deceased, identified as Saijo Timothy, was passing by on his motorbike when he noticed a
00:18mother cat and her kitten who were trying to cross the road. During the ordeal, a vehicle
00:22hit the kitten. The mother cat tried to reach the kitten which was left injured in the middle of
00:26the road disrupting the traffic flow. Encountering the incident, Saijo decided to aid the kitten
00:30not knowing how it would take a turn for the worse. This CCTV footage showed Saijo's rescue attempt
00:36which took his life as he was hit by a speeding truck just as he bent down to pick up the kitten.
00:40The strong impact of the truck caused Saijo to fall in front of another car coming from the
00:44opposite direction which dragged him along the road. Although he was taken to a private hospital
00:49immediately, the accident claimed his life. Kerala recorded 44,938 road accidents and
00:553,453 fatalities in 2024, highlighting the dangers of nighttime travel. To improve safety, the state
01:01launched the fully automated traffic enforcement system in April 2023 using AI cameras to track violations.
