00:00Probably if you look through the last few games, we haven't actually been that aggressive
00:05because teams have bowled so well to us.
00:08So I think it's more a case of adapting to whatever a team throws at us.
00:12I think we know that this wicket's a really good surface.
00:15The last two times it was played on, I think 270, 280.
00:19So the expectation is that it will be high scoring.
00:21But I think when we've been at our best, we've just been really controlled, understand the
00:26conditions and the bowlers and what they're trying to achieve.
00:29So that'll be the goal for tomorrow.
00:31How good is the six-day break for you from the last match, actually?
00:36You can only assess that after tomorrow, whether it's been good for us or not.
00:40But it's given guys a little bit of a chance to get away.
00:43And then obviously we've had three training sessions building into this game.
00:47So I think the guys feel refreshed.
00:49I think they understand what they need to do.
00:51And now we have an opportunity against a very good Punjab team to try and do it.
00:55Can you look at the pitch?
00:57Yes.
00:58Yeah.
00:59No, I mean, like I said just before, the last two times there's been a game played on
01:04this.
01:05It was 280, 270.
01:06So I think the expectation is it's a very good wicket.
01:10Very good wicket for batters.
01:12And the downtime of six days and then after what happened last year, how difficult or easy
01:18is it to motivate a team which is on the downside?
01:20I think normally in these situations the motivation comes from within and it's around your own individual
01:27performance.
01:28And if you look at the entire team, squad, they're all exceptional players in their own
01:33right.
01:34I think they're very prideful around their individual performances and I think that's what you'll
01:37see.
01:38You'll see some guys who are really motivated to do well and then once they're able to do
01:42that for themselves then it sort of permeates its way throughout the team and that's when
01:47you start getting good team performances.
01:49So that's our challenge, getting one or two guys to really stand up and deliver and then
01:54the rest of the team being able to complement that.
01:56Hi, so I just wanted to ask, like last year SRH has had pretty good success but this season
02:05things have not gone deep according to the plan.
02:08Do you think somewhere like the opposition teams have found out the tactics better or they
02:14are prepared to counter your approach?
02:16I think you have to give other teams credit.
02:19I think right from after the auction it looked like there were ten exceptionally good teams
02:25in the IPL.
02:26The distribution of talent was probably more spread evenly than it has been in the past
02:31so every side that you come up against is going to be full of fantastic players
02:36and obviously they come prepared and I think when you know the reputation of the surface
02:42and our batsmen then the burden is on the opposition bowling to really turn up and understand what
02:49they need to do and so far that's what we've seen.
02:52Albeit the one game, the first game that we had and I suppose we can reflect back on that first game
02:57and say we know the blueprint.
02:59We don't necessarily have to get 270-280 but when our batsmen are able to I suppose dominate the powerplay
03:06and set it up for our middle order batsmen and then score on the board for our bowlers to defend
03:12that's normally when we're at our best.
03:15Also on bowling, like batting bowling has not been up to the mark this year, what do you have to say about that?
03:25Well I think when you look at the teams that have performed so far they've been able to excel in all three disciplines
03:32and they've been able to bring that to the table consistently and that's probably been our challenge this year
03:36that we actually haven't performed as well as we could have and so therefore that's quite a simple message to the group
03:43around just your own individual performance improvements from there and then the team aspect comes after that.
03:49So we're challenging the players that if they lift for this game then we know the team at its best, the players at its best is one of the best sides in the IPL.
04:01When it comes to opening order and as well as the middle order, there's been a steady decline.
04:06I mean we've seen Travis from 67, recently 4, 8, 22 and then in the middle order Mr. Klassen is there to make a sizable contribution.
04:16How are you trying to motivate, you know, because they have been very decisive last year but this year there seems to be a steady decline.
04:26Is there any particular reasons that you identified behind this?
04:29I think you guys have identified it around how teams are executing plans against us and being very specific and they've done a great job in that.
04:38But we have seen pockets I think from all the batsmen of them at their best and the challenge for us is building that collective, like I said there before,
04:48that one or two guys get going has a positive effect, has a motivating effect on the rest of the group and then you can see us at our best.
04:57So I think over the course of anyone's careers there's ups and downs, ebbs and flows and unfortunately we've sort of seen a few of those ebbs at the moment within the group.
05:07But I still back that talent, I still back that skill level of all those guys to come good.
05:14Will there any changes from batting side and bowling side?
05:18Will there be any changes in the batting side and bowling side?
05:21Do you think about it?
05:23I know, can't discuss that.
