BMitch and JP debate which prospects would fit the Washington Commanders best in the first round of the NFL draft.

00:00I think James Pierce Jr. is a guy that could be there at 29.
00:05More than all of it, though, B, I think trading out of 29
00:08is probably more likely than us picking the player they take.
00:11It's probable.
00:12I mean, if you look at the position at 29,
00:15let's say they get to 29 and the player that they may be looking for,
00:21but I think they put themselves in a position
00:23where they could take best player available.
00:25But if they get to 29, there are some people
00:27that completely is against what they're looking for.
00:31Moving back and getting some extra picks wouldn't hurt.
00:34A guy getting picked at 29, a guy getting picked at 33 or 34
00:37in the second round is much different, not much.
00:40You know, those guys are sometimes they get on the runs
00:43of a certain position grouping and you slip out of the first round.
00:48Hey, that's cool.
00:51I think the best thing that can happen for Washington
00:54is continued interest in Jalen Milrow and Jackson Dart.
00:59And some team wants to get back up into there,
01:03into the first round to get those quarterbacks
01:06so they get a fifth-year option on them.
01:09And let Washington move down.
01:11I mean, right now they just have so few picks.
01:13Right now they have five picks and only two of them
01:15are in the top 100 at 29 and 61.
01:19We saw it last year with Adam Peters moving back in the draft
01:22to acquire more picks. I think we'll see that again.
01:25Whether it's 29 or 61, I bet they move out of one of those two picks.
01:30And what Peter said is, you know, you need somebody
01:33that will move, that wants to move up.
01:36I think usually that will exist.
01:39I did have a question for you.
01:42We've all kind of talked about the same names.
01:45There's no way Carter, Walker, Stuart, Green are there.
01:49I think those are all top 20 picks.
01:51And then you've got Michael Williams from Georgia that I like,
01:54Aziraku, James Pierce.
01:55There's other names, right?
01:58Texas A&M has Scowerton.
02:02I'm curious what you think about Jack Sawyer, the big dude.
02:07The kid from Ohio State?
02:08Yeah, the kid from Ohio State.
02:09These guys tend to like captains and leaders.
02:15Yeah, he's a steady inning.
02:16Right.
02:17You know, and I think a lot of times we get caught up in the section
02:22that's how I'm a pick.
02:24This guy does this, does that.
02:26But also when you start picking those guys like that,
02:28those are the ones that normally have that risk of getting banged up a lot,
02:33not making it the whole year.
02:35But you get a guy who rolls in like a Ryan Kerrigan was.
02:38He wasn't very sexy what he did, but he constantly was just there,
02:43year in and year out.
02:45And I think Sawyer kind of reminds me of somebody like that.
02:48You know, so if you get a guy that can play 10, 12 years for you,
02:52and he gets 9, 10, 9, 10, 9, 10, maybe 11, back to 9, 10,
02:58but you get another guy come in and he gets 15 one year,
03:01he's hurt the next year.
03:02It's 10 the next year, banged up again.
03:06Who's best overall?
03:07Right.
03:08You know, and I think that's what you got to start looking at.
03:11Yes, you want guys who could do it.
03:13If you find one, cool.
03:15But if there's a guy that you can get that can be consistent
03:18for a long period of time, over time that will pay off for you.
03:24I mean, so here's my thing.
03:26If they do move back, a guy like Sawyer I find interesting.
03:29When you watch Michigan, did the kid Josiah Stewart pop for you at all?
03:36He's kind of skinny.
03:36He's 6'1", 250 or something.
03:40Yeah, but see, J.I., from years back, I got away from thinking the guy got to be 6'6",
03:46whatever.
03:47Right.
03:47Because we went through the, Dwight Freeney was about 6'1", what was the kid in Denver?
03:555'11", 245.
03:57Doomerville.
03:57Doomerville.
03:58Yeah.
03:58You started getting guys that were the 5'11", to 6'2", 240, 250.
04:04Those guys are super athletic.
04:06And guess what?
04:06The 6'7", 6'8", office alignment, you got to get down low enough for them, you don't have no damn power.
