00:00Good evening, you're tuned into Super 6 here on India Today.
00:04I'm Akshata Anandagopal.
00:05As always, over the next 60 minutes, you can watch out for the top six stories of the day.
00:10And let's begin this broadcast by breaking down for you the stories.
00:14You can watch out for the six stories.
00:15We're tracking this hour on India Today.
00:17Story number one on Super 6, we'll be breaking down for you over the next 30 minutes with
00:22Trinamool Congress being rocked by an internal feud that's playing out in the most embarrassing
00:29manner for the party.
00:30Two MPs sniping at each other in angry, abusive rants as videos, messages have revealed the
00:37deep factionalism in the party.
00:39I'll be breaking down for you all of the details of that rant and what led to it in the first place.
00:46Story number two is from the courts.
00:48The Supreme Court has delivered a landmark judgment on governor's powers to stop a bill
00:54and stall it for years.
00:56The top court has pulled up the Tamil Nadu governor, but importantly also issued an order
01:01that will have repercussions in all states where there are similar government versus
01:06governor tussles.
01:07And there are far too many of those in the country.
01:09So we'll be telling you all about that.
01:12Story number three, which comes up at 6.30pm on Super 6, we'll be focusing on this video.
01:17A shocking hit and run in which a man drunk on spirits and on power runs over people one
01:23after another and not once does he hit the brake, not once does he attempt to stop.
01:28That man is a Congress Neta and there's outrage in the streets of Jaipur as locals have claimed
01:34there's a bid to shield this monster because he's a Congress Neta.
01:37We'll be telling you all about that.
01:40Story number four on Super 6, the Congress's introspection huddle in Gujarat where they're
01:45mapping out their party strategy and how to take on the BJP.
01:50Importantly also a Gujarat message that they're sending across by having this particular meeting
01:54in Gujarat.
01:55So we'll run you through the takeaways of that meet, what really have they identified
01:59as the core issues they need to focus on, need to battle to overcome the BJP challenge
02:04across the country.
02:05We'll be telling you all about that.
02:07Story number five is one of hope and of the miracles of science.
02:11An animal that went extinct 10,000 years ago is back.
02:15That's a dire wolf for you, ladies and gentlemen.
02:17The same animal in the Game of Thrones that's been brought back by an American company and
02:22the sheer possibility of bringing back long extinct animals is so exciting, it's got the
02:28world talking.
02:29We'll be telling you all about that.
02:31And finally on the show, on Super 6 will be our daily IPL roundup as Punjab take on Chennai
02:38Super Kings.
02:39A. N. Mohali will be giving you a curtain tracer of what to expect on that encounter.
02:48So our top story on Super 6, the Trinamool Congress being plagued by infighting and a
02:54series of videos and WhatsApp chats that's exposed and embarrassed the party.
03:00Let's begin with a video.
03:02What you see here is a video released by the BJP in which a non-stop rant by senior veteran
03:08TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee can be heard.
03:11He refers to a chore woman, all of this is on tape by the way, and then slams her, questions
03:16her integrity and what not.
03:18Attempts to pacify him by colleagues like Derek don't work.
03:21Kalyan Banerjee says, let the media hear with the clear intention that everyone should know
03:26what's happening in the Trinamool Congress.
03:28We're going to decode for you the takeaways, what led to it, what not, but let's begin
03:33with the very basics.
03:34Let's listen first to that video that's triggered a storm.
04:04But I'm not allowed to do any illegal work.
04:21If you start, I will finish.
04:25No, no, if you start, I will finish it.
04:35Don't let you know about this.
04:37Don't let them know about this.
04:42Calls his own colleague a chore, says I didn't become an MP with any quota, she's threatened
04:48to get me arrested.
04:49That's how ugly it got in that video.
04:50And this was by the way in the EC office.
04:53Seen in that video with Kalyan Banerjee who's on that non-stop rant are Sagarika Ghosh and
04:58Derek O'Brien.
05:00Many others, TMC MPs are also there.
05:02Kalyan Banerjee clearly doesn't care.
05:05He had a point to prove that was very clear because there was attempts to pacify him.
05:09He didn't care.
05:09He wanted to send out a message and did so loudly.
05:13But who is he actually talking about?
05:15Who is he attacking?
05:16We'll get to that in a bit because this isn't the only embarrassing leak for the Trinamool
05:21Congress.
05:22There are WhatsApp chats also that's proving to be hugely embarrassing and humiliating
05:27for the TMC.
05:28This got leaked because it's actually an internal group.
05:31Kalyan Banerjee and Kirti Azad indulging in an ugly war of words.
05:36The exchange is on a WhatsApp group called AITC MP 2024.
05:41All India Trinamool Congress MPs 2024 group.
05:44What that means is essentially only TMC MPs were on that group and Kalyan Banerjee again
05:49is going after a woman MP.
05:51This time he calls her versatile international lady, great lady.
05:55These are the words he uses in that rant that he goes on on WhatsApp.
06:00Here's that full shot first.
06:30Take it easy Kalyan.
06:34You have had one too many.
06:36Don't act like a juvenile delinquent.
06:38You have been entrusted with a very serious responsibility by Didi to take everyone along
06:43with you.
06:44So relax.
06:45Have a nice sleep.
06:46I have no axe to grind with you.
06:48I humbly request you as a senior in age to me, not in politics, to kindly take everyone
06:54together.
06:56Stop your childish and erratic behaviour.
06:58Act like an adult.
07:00Don't instigate anybody.
07:02Think with a cool mind.
07:04Good night.
07:06Don't advise me Kirti.
07:08You were thrown out of BJP for doing internal politics.
07:11You are not senior in age of mine.
07:13You wanted to sell the party yesterday.
07:15You are still captain of doing internal politics.
07:18Your popularity is so much that you lost election in cricket.
07:22Let me see your power to get me arrested for your friend.
07:25Do not worry.
07:26I will go to Durgapur and open your mask.
07:29I'm discharging the responsibility since 2011.
07:32All you have hatched a plan who have come to party when party is in power.
07:39How ugly was that exchange?
07:41Essentially Kalyan Banerjee attacking Kirti Azad claiming the woman MP along with him
07:46have gone ahead and attacked and tried to get him arrested.
07:50This is the claim that essentially he's made.
07:53Now let's also tell you who this woman MP is that Kalyan Banerjee is talking about.
07:59He calls her versatile international lady.
08:02He calls her chore woman.
08:04He says at least I don't become an MP from quota.
08:07He says she's trying to get me arrested.
08:09She's threatened to get me arrested.
08:11All of this is against his own colleague, his fellow MP, Maua Moitra.
08:16Kalyan Banerjee in his rant against her in those WhatsApp chats calls her sarcastically
08:20versatile international lady, great lady, even takes personal jibes saying not a single
08:25boyfriend stood by her and then even suggests that she has high-flying sources in the Home
08:30Ministry and that's why he dares her to get him arrested in Delhi.
08:34So what happened?
08:35How did things get so downright ugly between the two TMC MPs?
08:40You won't believe how petty the issue is and how essentially all this comes down to one
08:45thing that it's an ego battle.
08:47Here's what happened.
08:49All of this tussle started with a very small point.
08:51It happened because Maua Moitra wanted a Bengali sweet shop to be opened in Parliament.
08:56Maua started getting signatures for the same.
08:59Kalyan Banerjee blocked this move.
09:01He was against this sweet shop coming up in Parliament.
09:04Obviously it was some internal petty politics playing out.
09:07Mamata's name after that almost in a tit-for-tat move wasn't included in a memo which was signed
09:13by TMC leaders in EC.
09:16And so when Maua's name wasn't mentioned there and hastily reportedly written at the end
09:21whereas all the others were typed, a showdown played out in the Election Commission office too.
09:26Maua then after that showdown reportedly also shot off a letter to the High Command and
09:32that's when Kalyan Banerjee got miffed and went on this rant, caught on video and then
09:38on WhatsApp chats as well.
09:40So that's right.
09:41Believe it or not, this ugliness is over a sweet shop.
09:44It's like a school level fight.
09:46What's created this deep, ugly and very public feud among senior TMC members of Parliament
09:51is laughable really.
09:53The kind of low level internal politics within the party and again let me reiterate, over
09:57a sweet shop.
09:58But here's Shogato Roy, another senior leader in the TMC with his two cents on the fight.
10:02He's claimed he even saw Maua crying in Parliament over this.
10:07Listen in.
10:09Maua was crying and she was going to several MPs also, other parties, to complain about
10:20Kalyan's behaviour.
10:22At that time, at that time, a number of our party MPs, both gentlemen and ladies, were
10:38gathered and they were discussing that Kalyan's behaviour could be not tolerated anymore and
10:51everybody should repeat to our Suprema Mamta Banerjee.
10:55Kalyan is known for his intemperate and uncivilised behaviour.
11:02I feel strongly.
11:04I feel that Kollan should be removed from his post of Chief Whip of the Parliamentary
11:12Party immediately.
11:15So Shogato Roy, they're taking the side of Maua Moitra and saying what Kalyan Banerjee
11:20did was unacceptable.
11:21What does Kalyan Banerjee have to say for himself?
11:24Well, here's what he claims happened.
11:26He says a day before all of the chaos broke out, he got a message from Derek O'Brien
11:32and the message stated that 27 TMC MPs will sign a memorandum.
11:36Mind you, all of this was after that whole sweet shop drama.
11:39This message stated that 27 TMC MPs will sign a memorandum.
11:43The memorandum was to be submitted at the EC office the next morning.
11:47So Kalyan Banerjee along with several other TMC leaders reached the EC office and there
11:52he claims Maua Moitra charged at him that Maua accused him of not including her name
11:58in the list of TMC leaders signing the memorandum and she says that he did it deliberately.
12:03Now, there was clearly an abusive rant at each other.
12:06They fired at each other.
12:07Kalyan Banerjee also hit back at Maua Moitra.
12:10Then, according to Kalyan Banerjee, Maua Moitra then went to the BSF and asked them,
12:16the officials present there, to arrest Kalyan Banerjee and that's when he lost his cool
12:21and the video that you see recorded right after his office rant in the EC office saying
12:26she's threatening to arrest me.
12:27Who is she to go ahead and do that?
12:29A thief wants me arrested.
12:30That's right.
12:31He called his colleague Maua Moitra a thief.
12:35Listen to what Kalyan Banerjee has said.

18:05Kalyan Banerjee.
18:06Well very very embarrassing Akshita for the Trinamool Congress and coming as it is both
18:11the leaks, the video and the WhatsApp chat screenshots from the BJP.
18:17So the principal opposition party here in West Bengal leaking those things out in the
18:23media is a bigger embarrassment for the Trinamool Congress and it has only been corroborated
18:28by the all guns blazing press conference by Kalyan Banerjee, a veteran Trinamool Congress
18:34MP in the heart of New Delhi and this has literally opened a can of worms because we
18:40knew that not all was well within the Trinamool Congress party higher ranks.
18:46There has been factionalism and now it is out in the open.
18:50We are given to understand that the equation between Mahua Moitra and Kalyan Banerjee who
18:55is also the chief whip of the party in Lok Sabha has been strained for some time.
19:00Now this is out in the open and Kalyan Banerjee has not just attacked Mahua Moitra, he is
19:04also gone all guns blazing against another veteran MP Shogato Roy who has in fact now
19:10demanded that Kalyan Banerjee be sacked as the chief whip of the party.
19:14The ball is clearly in the court of party supremo Mamata Banerjee.
19:19She of course the party has put a gag asking everybody, you just heard Kunal Kaur saying
19:25that when in a big family there are you know differences of opinion that prop up, one should
19:30not put those things in public.
19:32But it is the principal opposition party who is actually playing that out, putting
19:36all these things out in the public.
19:38But who leaked it?
19:39As you have just rightly mentioned, that is the big question.
19:40There is a question over who leaked it, but Indra what are you sensing from the high command?
19:44You know do they believe Kalyan Banerjee is in the wrong here, do they believe Mahua Moitra
19:47is in the wrong here, is there going to be action against any one of them or both of
19:50them?
19:51Well it is unclear.
19:55You know there is a stoic silence within the TMC leadership higher ups, they are stunned
20:00by you know Kalyan Banerjee's tirade today.
20:04I have been trying to reach out to Mahua Moitra sources close to her say that she has written
20:08to party supremo Mamata Banerjee and she expects Mamata Banerjee to take some sort of a decision.
20:14Kalyan Banerjee on his part has already threatened that if Mamata Banerjee says that he is wrong,
20:21he is ready to put in his papers.
20:23On the other hand Shogata Roy has demanded Kalyan Banerjee's resignation.
20:27So clearly the parties, parliamentary party at least seems to be completely divided with
20:32some supporting Kalyan Banerjee whereas the rest and I know a lot of female MPs they do
20:38not approve of the kind of behaviour that Kalyan Banerjee has met out and that is public
20:43now in the video.
20:44So they have also requested Mamata Banerjee to take note of this and take some stern action.
20:49We will have to see what kind of action is initiated by the Trinamool Congress high command.
20:54It seems almost like TMC leaders now are picking sides between Kalyan Banerjee and
20:59Mawa Moitra and Mamata Banerjee will be looking to kind of quell all of this deep divide within
21:04the TMC.
21:05Thanks very much Indra for joining us with those details.
21:07We have got breaking news coming in.
21:08Let us cut across to that.
21:17The central government in a big development has filed a caveat in the Supreme Court.
21:22This is on the petitions that have been filed challenging the Vakf Amendment Act.
21:27Now the government has essentially requested the court to ensure that their stance is also
21:31heard during the proceedings of the case.
21:34So the government already taking steps at a time when 12 petitions have been filed before
21:39the Supreme Court and sources have told us that those cases will come up on April 16th
21:44in the top court.
21:45Aneesha Mathur is joining us with more details on this.
21:48Aneesha, the central government wanted to be made a part of the case trying to ensure
21:52that when the Supreme Court hears these petitions, their version is also heard.
21:56Well, yes, Akshita, remember some of these petitions have asked for a stay on the implementation
22:02of the Vakf Amendment Act and if that that kind of a matter has to be heard by the court,
22:07the center making it very clear that they want to be heard before any such stay orders
22:13are passed by the Supreme Court.
22:15Of course, a caveat has been filed, the hearing in these matters is going to be now next week.
22:20So we'll have to wait and see how the Supreme Court takes these, whether the issue of stay
22:25is heard, how exactly this entire situation plays out.
22:29But we are seeing a major legal battle ahead when it comes to the Vakf Amendment Act.
22:34Back to you.
22:35All right, Aneesha, thanks very much for getting us that update.
22:38More breaking news coming up.
22:45A news coming in of a clash that's been reported between police and protesters in Bengal's
22:54Murshidabad.
22:55This protest was over the Vakf Act and there was in fact violence that broke out during
23:01this agitation.
23:03Police tried to stop the protesters from marching forward, which is what led to this clash.
23:07You're seeing incidents of arson also being reported as a result.
23:11This has happened in Murshidabad of West Bengal as vehicles have been torched by the
23:16protesters.
23:17Ugly clash breaking out.
23:18These were anti-Vakf Act protesters essentially, and they'd come together attempting to march
23:23on the streets of Murshidabad.
23:25The cops immediately blocked them off, citing law and order and the fact that no permission
23:29was granted.
23:30It's led to these images coming in of protesters hitting back, resorting to arson, torching
23:37vehicles and also it looks like pelting stones at police officials.
23:41Let's bring in Indrajit for more details on this.
23:44Indrajit, what's the situation currently in Murshidabad?
23:46How did it go so out of control?
23:48Well, Akshita, this afternoon there were major protests that were lined up in Jongipur in
23:55Murshidabad district and things went out of control after police tried to disperse the
24:00crowd because they were blocking a road.
24:03And while the police tried to disperse the crowd, there was mild force that was used.
24:08Clashes erupted between the protesters and the police.
24:11There was stone pelting.
24:12Police had to lathi charge and then fire tear gas shells.
24:15You know, those who were protesting, they retaliated and they set two police vehicles
24:21on fire.
24:22We are given to understand that some police personnel have also been injured.
24:26There were additional forces that were rushed to the area in Jongipur and finally this evening
24:31the situation has been brought under control.
24:33But clearly, Murshidabad, this is not the first time has witnessed such protests.
24:38You would remember even during the anti-CAA protest that had taken place a few years
24:42back, there were massive protests that took place in Murshidabad in which train stations
24:47were also vandalized.
24:49So police on the vigil right now, they are on an alert.
24:53But clearly, things went out of control for some time in which two police vehicles were
24:58set on fire and we are given to understand that some security personnel have also been
25:02injured.
25:03Okay, security personnel also unfortunately injured in this incident.
25:07Any update Indrajeet on the current situation?
25:09Have things been brought under control now in Murshidabad?
25:14That's right.
25:15Things have now been brought under control with additional security forces reaching that
25:19area.
25:20Things have been cleared and the crowds have been dispersed.
25:23This happened, you know, sometime earlier today, later in the afternoon, but things
25:27are under control is what the police in Murshidabad are telling us.
25:32All right, Indrajeet, thanks very much for joining us with those details.
25:35Images coming in right now from Murshidabad of the kind of violence that broke out after
25:42in fact an anti-Vaqf Act protest turned violent.
25:48You've got also a reaction coming in from the BJP on this as BJP IT cell chief Amit
25:52Malviya has also put out a statement saying West Bengal is up in flames.
25:58Amit Malviya saying communal violence has erupted, Muslim mobs taking to the streets
26:02and protest against the Vaqf Act.
26:04Mamata Banerjee has lost control over vast regions of Bengal which have become inaccessible
26:09to the state administration due to an unnatural demographic shift and illegal infiltration.
26:16Amit Malviya has said that essentially Mamata Banerjee has lost her grip of many parts of
26:21Bengal and he's blamed illegal infiltration for these kind of protests against the Vaqf
26:26Act.
26:27Malviya also saying, I quote here, all Mamata can do now is grovel in anticipation of votes.
26:32She must go in 2026.
26:34So the BJP upping the ante over these incidents of violence that have been reported now in Bengal.
26:43Let's get you details now of what really played out in the Supreme Court over the Tamil Nadu
26:47government's plea against Governor Arundhati Ravi.
26:50Major legal victory for the Stalin led Tamil Nadu government as the Supreme Court ruled
26:56that Governor Arundhati Ravi's decision to withhold assent for 10 crucial bills was both
27:01illegal and arbitrary and the Supreme Court with that has said automatically assent has
27:06been given for these 10 crucial bills.
27:08The Supreme Court also stated that the Governor has no authority to reserve bills for the
27:13President's consideration after withholding assent.
27:16Essentially that once he's withheld assent and sent it back to the Assembly, if the Assembly
27:20sent it back to him, he cannot again go ahead and refer it to the President.
27:24The bench emphasized that the Governor should have granted assent when the bills were returned
27:28to him after being repassed by the Assembly.
27:31And the Court very importantly has now set a time frame saying from 1 to 3 months is
27:36the amount of time a Governor can actually take to decide on a bill to either withhold
27:40assent or reserve the bill for the President, not longer than that which means that's an
27:45order that has repercussions not just for Tamil Nadu but every single state and every
27:50single state that's fighting it out with the Governor for the exact same reason.
27:54Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin has welcomed the move, said that this is a victory for
27:59all states and he's also said that Tamil Nadu Government will always work for the people.
28:03There's been no statement yet from the Tamil Nadu Rajpavan.
28:30The Governor was acting in defiance to the advice of the Council of Ministers.
28:36The Governor was acting in defiance to the will of the people, namely when the Legislature
28:41enacts a law, he sat over the bills indefinitely and he went to the extent of first returning
28:49back the bill and when the bill was re-enacted and sent back to him, he did not adhere to
28:54the provisions of the Constitutions and he forwarded the bill to the President which
29:00was in violation to the Constitutional provisions.
29:03Because of the actions of the Governor and because of the delay being caused in granting
29:08assent to the 10 bills, the assent has deemed to have been granted so thereby the bills
29:14need not even require the signature of the Governor for his assent.
29:19In place of the Governor's signature, the Supreme Court has given its seal of approval
29:26for these bills.
29:27Now that the Supreme Court has said this, I think this is a clear cut direction to all
29:31Governors not to exceed their brief.
29:35They should not try to interfere in the administration of the state, regular administration of the
29:40state.
29:41When special situation arises, that's when Governors have to play a role.
29:45And for every bill, if there's any genuine concern, they have every right to send it
29:49back to Government for an explanation or for a verification.
29:54But they cannot sit on legislations and we've seen Governors in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala
30:01and wherever opposition ruled states are there, how badly they have behaved, how they have
30:06been misused by the Modi Government.
30:08So this again shows how the country is being run today.
30:11There is no democracy.
30:14Let's bring in Anagha Keshav joining us live from Chennai with the latest on this.
30:18Anagha, what are the reactions that have come in from Tamil Nadu?
30:21Obviously, this is a huge boost for the DMK, who has been fighting it out with the Governor
30:26of course, particularly over the fact that their bills have been stalled repeatedly at
30:31the Governor's office.
30:32Has there been any statement that's come in from the Governor, Mr. Aaryan Ravi?
30:35Well, Akshita, so far the Governor has been unresponsive of this.
30:42We have been hearing it only from the DMK clan.
30:45We had the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, PTR and the entire Cabinet set of Ministers
30:50who have reacted to this matter, calling this as a victory for democracy in India.
30:55They are stating that this is going to be a huge moral boost for Southern Government
31:00because remember, the friction between the Governor and Tamil Nadu Government has been
31:04simmering for months now.
31:06Over 10 bills were pending to get its assent, but it turns out because of Supreme Court
31:12nod, all those 10 bills have been given an assent is what we are hearing.
31:18Adding to that is the fact that because all 10 bills have been given an assent, this means
31:27that a significant chunk of Governor's power will be taken away and that will include that
31:33he no longer continues to serve as a Chancellor, number one, and number two, he no longer can
31:39appoint Vice-Chancellors in Tamil Nadu Universities and that includes Dr. MGR Medical University,
31:45Ambedkar Law University, Madras University, Anna University, all top-notch universities,
31:51educational universities in Tamil Nadu.
31:53The Governor no longer serves as a Chancellor and can no longer appoint a Vice-Chancellor.
32:00Okay, thanks very much Anagha for getting us those details.
32:03Clearly now, there's been a reality check of sorts for the Tamil Nadu Governor who's
32:07been battling of course the Tamil Nadu Government to almost every single step, every single
32:12decision.
32:13But let's break it down for you.
32:14What are the constitutional powers of a Governor and why has there been the Supreme Court's
32:19intervention in this matter?
32:22Important to highlight one particular article of the Constitution, Article 200.
32:26It's under Article 200 of the Indian Constitution that powers are granted to a Governor to go
32:31ahead and grant assent to their bills.
32:34Now here's what the article says, the Governor may as soon as possible, this is what's exactly
32:39written in Article 200, that the Governor may as soon as possible return bills for reconsideration
32:45if that's what they want.
32:47Now if the bill is sent again by the Assembly, passed by the Assembly, sent back after consideration,
32:53the Governor shall not withhold assent.
32:57That's also clearly mentioned in Article 200.
33:00But here's the challenge with Article 200 of the Constitution, while it says as soon
33:04as possible, there's no specific time frame mentioned.
33:08There's no mention of what does as soon as possible, how is it defined, which is why
33:12Governors with that particular mention of no specific timeline would go ahead and take
33:17their own time in passing bills.
33:19Now however, the Supreme Court has set the time frame to one to three months, which is
33:23why it's so crucial, because right now with Article 200, there was no specific mention.
33:28So putting the spotlight on the Supreme Court verdict right now, what really are the big
33:33takeaways?
33:34First is of course, like I said, there's a timeline for Governors to decide on bills.
33:38Second, that timeline is essentially one to three months' time.
33:42One to three months' time is all that the Governor has now to take a call on the bill,
33:47especially if they want to return it.
33:48The Governor cannot reserve for a President's nod for a second time.
33:53If he or she sends the bill for reconsideration and it comes back passed by the Assembly a
33:58second time, they cannot push then again for a President's nod and then keep the bill waiting
34:03again.
34:04The fourth takeaway from the Supreme Court order is that the Supreme Court has said the
34:08Governor must act with the advice of the State Cabinet, with the aid and advice of the State
34:14Cabinet, which is also how constitutionally they've been asked to act.
34:18Takeaway five is that the Governor cannot use Article 200 to go ahead and derail bills.
34:23I just told you what Article 200 says.
34:25It gives power to the Governor to give their nod for these bills.
34:29And so this article, because it doesn't specify an exact timeframe, cannot be used to derail
34:35bills.
34:36The Supreme Court has very, very clearly said that.
34:38I want to bring in Aneesha Mathur for, in fact, more details on this.
34:43Aneesha, you know, interesting order that's coming from the Supreme Court.
34:47And at a time when we've seen so many such government versus Governor tussles playing
34:52out, what really does this order mean?
34:55What impact does this verdict have on other states too?
34:58Well, Akshita, very clearly, as you've said, this is a very, very important verdict that
35:05will have an impact not just for the Tamil Nadu Governor, but also several other issues
35:10that have cropped up in the last several years.
35:12First of all, the most important being, of course, that now there is a timeline set by
35:17the Supreme Court for Governors to take a decision.
35:20We've seen multiple such instances in the last few years.
35:23There are two petitions pending, in fact, one by the West Bengal government and the
35:27other by the Kerala government on a similar issue of delay by Governor.
35:32In 2023, we saw the Punjab government coming to the Supreme Court.
35:36We've seen Telangana government coming to the Supreme Court.
35:39There have been instances like this in Karnataka, in Rajasthan, where the dispute between the
35:46government and the Governor have led to such delays.
35:49And now the court very clearly saying that a constitutional functionary, that is, the
35:55Governor, must act according to the constitution and not according to ephemeral other considerations.
36:02That is a very pointed statement also being made by the Supreme Court on this issue, a
36:06very pointed comment being made that the timeline has to be there and the court has
36:11exercised its plenary jurisdiction under Article 142, which is an unprecedented situation because
36:16earlier in the other matters, the court simply said, well, the Governor must act expeditiously.
36:22No timeline was ever set when such matters had come before the court earlier.
36:26Now a timeline has been specifically set that if you are giving a sentence, do it within
36:31one month.
36:32If you are withholding, do it within one month.
36:34If you're sending it to the President, do it within three months, whatever objections
36:39you have, send it back within three months.
36:41A maximum of four months can now be taken by a Governor.
36:45If he sends a matter to the President, the President sends it back and then it takes
36:51time for the Assembly to give its, to take action on that.
36:56So a timeline has clearly been set and this is obviously going to have repercussions on
36:59every single state where inevitably the tussle is over exactly this, over bills being stalled
37:05and sitting with the Governor's office forever.
37:07Thanks Aneesha for joining us with those details and breaking down really what the Supreme
37:11Court order means.
37:13Let's move on to our other big story here on Super 6.
37:17The hit and run incident reported in Jaipur, shocking video that's emerged of how a man
37:24drunk on spirits, drunk on power because this was a Congress Neta, went on a rampage and
37:29didn't stop his vehicle even once despite moving down people repeatedly.
37:34He was drunk and he killed three people while injuring seven others.
37:38So in all, ten people were affected as a result of this man being drunk and inebriated.
37:44This incident took place last night in Jaipur.
37:46The car clearly speeding, the white SUV that you see there going through the streets of
37:52Jaipur, ramps into several bikers and still doesn't stop.
37:56You can see the car going over some of these riders and still no attempt to hit the brake,
38:01no attempt to slow down.
38:02The driver keeps going.
38:04Now this led to three people dying.
38:06Before anyone could react, the car causing this widespread havoc hitting ten people and
38:11then tried to get away from the spot but he was fortunately caught by bystanders and handed
38:16over to the police.
38:17He's been arrested.
38:18The car has been seized.
38:19The accused has been identified as Usman, a Congress leader and was reportedly drunk
38:24at the time of the incident.
38:25And this is why I said he seemed to be drunk on power too because eyewitnesses accused
38:28the local Congress MLA of attempting to shield the driver as well, leading to widespread
38:33protests in Jaipur.
38:35The Congress has distanced themselves from this man, from the accused, Usman.
38:39He's now been expelled from the party.
38:55in Jaipur.

40:43What does Rahul Gandhi's message really to the Congress?
40:50Well, this meeting started around 11 a.m. and concluded around 4 p.m.
40:57So, basically, it was a marathon discussion of five long hours.
41:01And, in fact, what we're learning from our sources is that Rahul Gandhi put in very clear words
41:07that the Congress Party should not be afraid, should not get scared of raising issues pertaining
41:12to minorities.
41:13You know, this might be getting, you know, might be drawing criticism from certain sections,
41:19but we should not be, you know, we should not get afraid and we should keep on continuing
41:24issues that actually affects minority in the country.
41:27Now, obviously, this was in the context of the BJP and like-minded parties who often
41:33criticize Congress or often label Congress as a pro-minority party.
41:38Also, apart from this, Rahul Gandhi in this meeting said that, you know, we've been focusing
41:43only on Dalits, Muslims and Brahmins, particularly in northern part of the country.
41:49And this has essentially resulted in complete erosion of OBC, you know, vote bank from the Congress.
41:55And this is what is actually making things difficult for the Congress Party to get revived,
42:00at least in the northern part of the country.
42:03And that's why he said that we should go back and, you know, do politics of OBCs, Dalits,
42:08Muslims and also of poor, you know, house, poor people who come from general category.
42:14So, essentially, Rahul Gandhi, in a way, is setting the tone for upcoming elections,
42:19particularly Bihar, that we should be focusing on more on OBC minority and that we should
42:26not also get afraid from this criticism which BJP often, you know, throws at the Congress Party
42:33that they are indulging in Muslim appeasement or they are pro-minority.
42:37So, clearly, as far as this CWC meeting is concerned, it seems that Rahul Gandhi, in a way,
42:43has given a clarity to Congress leaders who came here from all over the country.
42:49In fact, there were 180 representatives that actually attended this important meeting.
42:54Tomorrow, there are going to be National Convention of the Congress Party,
42:57where 2000 delegates and 2000 Congress representatives will be attending.
43:02So, you can assume, you know, we all can expect that tomorrow, again, all these issues will be echoing
43:09and you can expect that, again, Rahul Gandhi will be playing on his sport.
43:13So, we'll track what really emerges from the meeting.
43:15Two-day meet that's underway. You just heard from Rahul Gandhi.
43:17He's just put out a message saying, speak more about the issues that minority groups in the country are facing.
43:22Thanks very much, Rahul, for those details.
43:24We will track what really are the takeaways from that meeting.
43:27What does the Congress really learn from the recent poll debacles that they've suffered?
43:31What is the learning, the takeaway that they take, that they will use in the upcoming elections to maybe perform better?
43:38All right, let's move on to also the other story that we promised we'll get you here on Super 6,
43:45on how an extinct species, an animal that's not walked on planet Earth for the last 10,000 years,
43:53for the first time, you see in the flesh here.
43:55The dire wolf is back.
43:57Romulus and Remus, those are the two pups on your screens.
44:00They're the world's first ever de-extinct animals.
44:04That's possible right now.
44:05Now, the dire wolf lost to history over 10,000 years ago has now been reborn.
44:11It happened on October 1st, 2024.
44:13And these remarkable pups were brought back to life using ancient DNA extracted from fossilized remains.
44:20The beauty of science right before your eyes.
44:23More details in our next report.
44:28We need to do the same if we're going to survive.
44:32You last saw them in the popular television series, Game of Thrones.
44:37You must be Summer.
44:47Computer generated versions of a wolf species that became extinct nearly 13,000 years ago.
44:57The dire wolf is now back from extinction.
45:02Meet Romulus and Remus.
45:05The world's first de-extinct animals.
45:08Brought to life using ancient DNA, they were born on October 1st, 2024.
45:13Their sister, Khaleesi, is just two months old.
45:19Texas-based Colossal Biosciences used two sets of fossils,
45:23one dating back over 70,000 years and another over 13,000 years,
45:28to reconstruct a dire wolf genome.
45:31Using the DNA recovered from the fossils,
45:33the researchers edited 20 genes of grey wolves to give them features of dire wolves.
45:39The embryos were then implanted in surrogate dogs.
45:46The result, a howling movement in genetic history.
45:52Over the months, the wolves have grown, gaining size, strength,
45:55and features of their Ice Age ancestors like long white fur and muscular jaws.
46:01Many scientists, however, sound a note of caution.
46:31And that's probably about it.
46:34Colossal Biosciences is calling this the age of de-extinction.
46:38The researchers at Colossal are now working to bring back the woolly mammoth and dodos.
46:45Bureau report, India Today.
46:48The China Super Kings are in dire need of a win after registering three successive losses.
46:53Their campaign has been far from ideal so far.
46:56And the challenge ahead isn't mean as the Punjab Kings have had the wood over them in recent times.
47:02Here's how the two teams stack up. I'm leaving you with our daily IPL report.
47:06Thanks very much for tuning in.
47:11The Chennai Super Kings need their superstars to step up.
47:14Three consecutive losses see them start their fifth match in ninth place.
47:21Up against them are the Punjab Kings, who've been a breath of fresh air this season.
47:26They go into the match placed fourth on the points table.
47:31Besides current form, PBKS would relish the fact that they've won five out of their last six matches
47:37against the five-time champions.
47:44If CSK need to change the script, they need runs,
47:47If CSK need to change the script, they need runs at the top.
47:51At 7.5, they have the lowest powerplay run rate in IPL 2025.
47:57We do need to be better with the bat, there's no doubt about it.
47:59We need to have one or two players in form, predominantly the top three or four.
48:03And you look at the teams that are going well, you'll see that the majority of the runs are getting scored through there, through the top four.
48:09So we need a bit more production there and that then allows the more power hitters or the players to finish off
48:16to come in at the right spots.
48:17We're having to introduce players just not quite at the right time
48:21and we felt that our batting in the power plays had been below par
48:25and going too hard was probably not the way.
48:29There are question marks over the batting position of captain Rudraj Gaikwad as well,
48:33who has decided to demote himself to number three.
48:41While MS Dhoni's batting position seems to be sorted for now,
48:44Dattala is yet to strike the finishing blows for his team.
48:52But CSK would love the prospect of playing in Mullahpur, which has been on the slower side in the past.
49:01A win for the Super Kings will get them out of the bottom three,
49:04while PBKS will consolidate their position at the top half if they outshine them.
