00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from
00:07a rather soggy Augusta in Georgia. As had been forecast, the weather for the first official
00:16practice day for the 89th Masters was miserable. The patrons were allowed in at 8am, a little
00:27bit later than would have normally been the case. However, I think they all knew that
00:32they weren't going to be there for the whole day, and at 11.25am the sirens sounded, the
00:41course was evacuated, the players came off the course and the practice area, and there
00:48was no further action for the rest of the day. It's still raining now, thankfully the
00:56forecast for the rest of the week is a lot better, it's to be bright tomorrow, a bit
01:02cool, but thankfully the players will be able to resume their preparations and the patrons
01:10will get back out on the course. Those who were there today will be disappointed obviously,
01:18however they are going to be offered the opportunity to return on the corresponding day next year.
01:26Bob McIntyre, the sole scorer on the field, he turned up at the course briefly today,
01:34he arrived on Sunday from Florida where he had a boot camp with his support team, played
01:41nine holes, the back nine on Sunday. He was pleased to have been able to do that given
01:46what happened today, and he'll be ready to get back out there tomorrow, two more days
01:55to get ready for his third appearance in the Masters. On Tuesday Rory McIlroy, who of course
02:02is bidding to complete that career grand slam, he's in the media centre, the first of a series
02:09of interviews which also include defending champion Scotty Sheffler, who's bidding to
02:16win this event for the third time in four years. To keep up to date with everything
02:21about the 89th Masters, log on to Scotsman.com, we're by the Scotsman.
