People that suffer from insomnia are at a higher risk of suffering a stroke. A study published in the journal Neurology specifically found that those who had five to eight insomnia symptoms had a 51% higher chance of stroke when compared to people with no insomnia signs. 00:17Some of those symptoms include waking up too early, getting sleep that felt non-restorative,
00:22and having difficulty staying asleep and falling asleep, reports the HuffPost.
00:27But here is one of the most interesting findings of the study.
00:30People under 50 with insomnia had a higher risk of stroke than those over 50.
00:36Other health issues at risk for insomniacs, regardless of their age and besides stroke,
00:41include hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.
