Rob Gregson discusses Aaron Rodgers working out with DK Metcalf over the weekend and how it leaves little doubt that the QB is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Transcript
00:00If you needed any more evidence that Aaron Rodgers was headed to the Pittsburgh Steelers,
00:04you just got it. Following a report that he and one of the Steelers star wide receivers worked
00:09out together, we received video that proved just that. Meaning it might as well be a matter
00:14of when but not if Aaron Rodgers joins the Steelers.
00:21Hey everyone, Rob Gregson of A-Z Sports Pittsburgh and today we're going to talk
00:25about the video that surfaced of Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf working out together at UCLA.
00:32Let's be clear, this is no small feat. One of two things happened. Either Aaron Rodgers
00:38called DK Metcalf or DK Metcalf called Aaron Rodgers. If Aaron Rodgers was going to retire,
00:44he's not throwing in the offseason in March to a random wide receiver. If he was not going to
00:50join the Pittsburgh Steelers, he's not throwing to the star wide receiver that they just acquired
00:57via trade. If he wasn't considering playing for Arthur Smith and in his offense, he's probably
01:03not throwing a lot of in-breaking routes as we saw in that video. So all the evidence points
01:09to the fact that Aaron Rodgers is going to the Steelers and this is just the latest example.
01:14Obviously, this week at the owners meetings, we've had the privilege to talk to Mike Tomlin
01:18who has said that he and Aaron Rodgers remain in constant dialogue and that the meeting between
01:25he, Rodgers and the rest of the Pittsburgh Steelers staff went over very well. So we have
01:31all of these ingredients. The Steelers and Rodgers, they just have to put it together
01:36and they have to make the final dish. That's all that's really left. We've heard that
01:40they remain close in terms of contract negotiations. We've heard that they obviously
01:45like each other and we know now that he and Metcalf have got together that there's a mutual
01:50interest between he and his pass catchers. Add on to the fact that if the Minnesota Vikings
01:56are truly out of the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes and he really does want to play, which as we said,
02:02it obviously looks like that, Aaron Rodgers doesn't have another choice. He doesn't have
02:06another option unless he wants to wait out training camp or potentially further than that
02:11in hopes that some starter gets injured. So this match has been brewing for a while
02:17and the Metcalf piece is the latest but potentially the most significant factor
02:22in what is looking more and more likely to be an Aaron Rodgers signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
