00:00is the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson looking at another extension fresh off of an extension
00:05right now. Normally Mark I'd say that's crazy but just in the NFL landscape at this point where
00:10you sign a player now and in two years he's worth like triple that amount maybe signing them sooner
00:15than later repeatedly is a new business practice in the future of the NFL. I mean you're starting
00:22to see a little bit of it in baseball with them buying out arbitration years right for guys that
00:26they really feel like have hit and it ends up saving them a lot of money and ends up being
00:30fiscally responsible for them. You're starting to see that now I think in the NFL where once guys
00:37get through that third year they're willing to extend them given how quickly and exponentially
00:42the cost of players is going up particularly at certain positions. And again you know I use this
00:48conversation with the Giants and all the mess that they have that no one's really thinking about.
00:52Malik Naber is their stud rookie who continues to be another success story as wide receivers
00:57coming out of LSU. You've given him a bad quarterback his first year you're going to
01:01give a bad quarterback his second year and you're probably going to be on the third quarterback
01:05his third year. What's the reason for him to stay? Like unless you throw him a whole big bag of money
01:10after three years and go you're our guy you're going to be the biggest part of our offense for
01:14the next five to seven years. You're not helping keep that guy around but it's advantageous for
01:20the Giants to do so with a guy like Malik Naber because by all accounts after one year
01:25he's already popping off the screen as one of the top receivers in the NFL.
