Morgan Wallen raised eyebrows after he abruptly walked off the stage at the end of last night's "Saturday Night Live" episode, in which he appeared as the musical guest.

00:00Well, Morgan Wallen is good for SNL, and SNL is good for Morgan Wallen, because every time
00:05he goes on the show, there is always lots of conversation around it.
00:10He has a new album coming out, so the whole point of him going on the show is publicity,
00:14right?
00:15Well, he's getting a lot of it, and not just for his performances, which were great, typical
00:21Morgan Wallen performances, but it was what happened at the end of the show.
00:25If you missed this, the host, Mikey Madison, is saying goodnight and thank you, and as
00:32soon as the credits start rolling, Morgan walks off, but not like side stage, back stage
00:37or anything.
00:38He walks straight out, like I'm walking out the door where the audience walks out, and
00:43he's gone, and the rest of the cast are like normally the musical guest and the host.
00:48Forever.
00:49For 50 years.
00:50It's been the thing on SNL, at the end of the show, they all stand on the stage and
00:53hug, and as somebody who's a people watcher, I always find that to be the most interesting
00:57part of the show, how they're hugging, who they're going to, that whole thing.
01:01I cannot remember a time in the past where somebody just walked out like that, and interestingly,
01:07it's not Morgan Wallen's first time on the show, so if it was his first time, he might
01:11think maybe he doesn't want, he doesn't know.
01:14Back in December 2020, he was on, this is still COVID days, so everyone had their masks
01:18on, but he chummed it up with everybody.
01:21And did the thing, and then it potentially was made even worse by what he posted in social
01:26media.
01:27Yes.
01:28Yeah, yeah, it definitely looked really awkward, so we obviously reached out to-
01:32This is, Devin, we should say, after he left, he posted his private jet and said, get me
01:37to God's country.
01:38So that sounds to me like he wants out of New York.
01:40Yeah, New York apparently not God's country.
01:42Yeah, that added fuel to the fire, because obviously everyone on social media saw this
01:46and made it, and you know, people were speculating a bunch of things.
01:50A, he didn't want to be there, maybe he was upset at some of the political jokes they
01:54made or the jabs that were made at him during the show.
01:57So we reached out to people close to Morgan, Morgan essentially wasn't upset.
02:01We're being told that he basically did that exit through all the rehearsals during the
02:05week and all the camera blocking, so that was just how he thought he was supposed to
02:09exit the show, at least that's what we're being told from his people.
02:13And then as far as SNL-
02:14That doesn't add up.
02:15You, I know Charles doesn't believe that, but we reached out to SNL as well, and they're
02:18saying, hey, there was no bad blood here, basically this was just an awkward moment,
02:22and they would love to have him back on the show, and he was-
02:25Oh, I'm sure.
02:26But he was also well aware of all the jokes they were going to make, because they did
02:29all the rehearsals.
02:30It's not like they changed the jokes right before the show, it wasn't his first time
02:32seeing the show.
02:33Right.
02:34Yeah.
02:35So I agree.
02:36Maybe it's not, he maybe knew about all the jokes, and it's not that, but maybe it's just
02:40New York.
02:41Maybe he just didn't want to be there, but that doesn't happen.
02:44Yeah, and SNL usually has an after party too that people go to, so clearly he's choosing
02:48not to go to that either.
02:49He had better places to be.
02:50Kenan Thompson was asked about this on Good Day New York with Rosanna Scotto and Kurt
02:54Menefee this morning.
02:56Kenan, of course, the longest serving cast member in SNL history, he's seen a lot of
03:00these.
03:01Yes, he knows what normally happens.
03:02Yeah.
03:03I don't know if he understood the assignment, is what that looks like.
03:07Apparently, I guess he didn't know to stay or something like that, but whatever, doesn't
03:10matter, it was a great show.
03:13And honestly, I'm sure that's exactly how everyone in SNL feels, they're like, whatever
03:17people are talking about it.
03:19We had a good show.
03:21Mikey Madison was great, and that's all they care about, and the only thing that Morgan
03:27cares about is getting publicity, right?
03:30So this is a win-win, even though nobody's saying that.
03:34Right.
03:35And they're also saying there were some lip readers that were saying that Morgan was saying
03:39to Mikey that he was exhausted and had to get out of there, so regardless, I think he
03:43just wanted to get home.
