00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 greatest video
00:13game remasters of the decade so far.
00:23Number 10, Diablo II Resurrected.
00:32As Blizzard Entertainment began its villain arc in the 2020s with flubs like Warcraft
00:373 Reforged and Diablo Immortal, Diablo II Resurrected was one of the few things it did
00:41rather well.
00:42For the first time ever, console players could finally experience this legendary action RPG
00:47that was once only ever playable on PC and Mac.
00:57And to sweeten the deal, we could experience the game with some of the best controls on
01:00console for a game such as this in addition to swapping between the remastered visuals
01:05and the old ones.
01:06In all honesty, this is truly the best way to play Diablo II out of the few versions
01:10we got.
01:20Number 9, Sonic X Shadow Generations.
01:32Shadow Generations was already a massive game, with its seemingly endless buffet of
01:36classic levels from both 2D and 3D Sonic games.
01:40But Sonic X Shadow Generations turns the 2011 game into an even beefier package.
01:45Now you have an entire campaign dedicated to Shadow the Hedgehog, and you'll get to
01:48relive plenty of moments from Sonic Adventure 2, 2005's Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Heroes,
01:54and more.
01:55We even got a DLC level dedicated to the Sonic 3 movie with Keanu Reeves reprising his role
01:59as Shadow.
02:06Whether you loved the original Sonic Generations or have been itching for more Shadow, Sonic
02:11X Shadow Generations will satisfy both cravings beyond your expectations.
02:23Number 8, Catherine Fullbody.
02:31Really we would have settled for a simple port for this one.
02:34Catherine was one of the most captivating games Atlus ever put out, with its unique
02:38puzzle-based gameplay and compelling story about romance, commitment, and the complicated
02:42concept that is love.
02:44What Catherine Fullbody does differently is wedge a third romance option into the story,
02:48along with five brand new endings, more animated cutscenes to further flesh out characters,
02:53and the number of levels to challenge your intellect has doubled to more than 500.
03:08Of course, there are also some touch-ups and visuals along with an expanded soundtrack.
03:12What more could you ask for from a remaster labeled as the Fullbody Edition?
03:22Number 7, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition.
03:32Upon first seeing Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, we were gobsmacked to learn that
03:37this was not a remake of the first game.
03:39The drastic change and improvements in its graphics and art style make the original game
03:42seem archaic in comparison.
03:45Even more impressive is how it makes the original game better with all of the quality of life
03:48improvements we saw in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, with a UI that is easier to read and crystal
03:59clear audio to help elevate the music and atmosphere.
04:02Nintendo even threw in a special epilogue that further dives into Melia's story after
04:07you beat the main campaign.
04:08If you never experienced the original game on the Wii, this is the best way to get yourself
04:12acquainted with the franchise.
04:21Number 6, Metroid Prime Remastered.
04:30Now when it comes to remasters, few games have been as accommodating as Metroid Prime
04:34Remastered.
04:35See, we can go on all day about how so much of the game looks as if it was built from
04:39scratch between the character models and texture work.
04:42What really wows us the most is the integration of three very distinct control schemes.
04:53Players can choose controls that perfectly emulate the original GameCube game, the motion-based
04:57controls of the Wii port, and even a blend of both.
05:00No matter which control scheme you prefer, you'll find that Metroid Prime truly stands
05:04the test of time, thanks in part to this remaster.
05:12Number 5, Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection.
05:24If we could name any game as the main reason Sony acquired Bluepoint Games, it's The
05:29Nathan Drake Collection.
05:30As some hardcore PlayStation enthusiasts are aware, PS3 games are tricky to bring to
05:34modern hardware because of certain design choices in the console itself.
05:38So whatever magic Bluepoint worked to get these games on PS4 ought to be studied.
05:50All three of the original Uncharted games are forever preserved, and in greater detail
05:54than ever before.
05:55With this collection, you can relive Nathan Drake's adventures at a crispy 60 frames
05:59per second, with supreme controls, and not a technical hiccup to be found anywhere.
06:04Any PlayStation fan would be remiss to not experience this trilogy.
06:19Number 4, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.
06:29With Koei Tecmo having lost the source code to Ninja Gaiden 2 ages ago, it's a miracle
06:34that this game was even released.
06:36Ninja Gaiden 2 Black falls under a similar category as Metroid Prime Remastered, in that
06:40it looks like it was completely remade.
06:42Rest assured, this is a remaster of Ninja Gaiden 2, albeit using the Sigma version's
06:46source code.
06:47However, unlike the Sigma version, this iteration is way more visceral and much closer to the
06:52original game, with the exception of all the new character models, textures, and more.
07:02In all honesty, 50 bucks seems pretty steep, but considering the amount of work that went
07:06into it, it was a price worth paying.
07:08Now, if only the first 3D Ninja Gaiden could get that same treatment.
07:18Number 3, Halo The Master Chief Collection.
07:30Admittedly this collection was among the worst titles to come out in 2014, with its technical
07:34instability and poor online connectivity.
07:37But as the years went on, 343 Industries managed to turn the game into one of the best collections
07:41of remasters you could possibly play.
07:44Each game plays well, looks great, and runs better than ever before.
07:57Plus the multiplayer was so much fun to play, just as it was in 2001, 2004, 2007, and so
08:04on.
08:05No matter if you're playing the 2001 hit that started it all, or replaying Reach for
08:08the 100th time, these remasters are a fantastic package to point new players towards and tell
08:13them this was Halo.
08:22Number 2, Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
08:33The value alone should be enough reason to play Mass Effect Legendary Edition if you
08:36never experienced the original trilogy.
08:39What you have here are three games with improved visuals and hundreds of hours of game time
08:43waiting for you, more if you do entire playthroughs as Paragon and Renegade each.
08:48What's more impressive is how this collection vastly improves the first Mass Effect, as
08:52tweaks were made to combat, controls, and load times.
08:55That said, if you ever see this go on sale, trust us when we say it is worth even the
08:59$60 price tag.

09:19If you're on your phone, make sure to go into your settings and switch on notifications.
09:25Number 1, The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition.
09:32A remaster of one of the greatest video games ever made does not need to do much to become
09:37one of the greatest remasters ever made.
09:39When Skyrim Special Edition launched in 2016, it was a simpler remaster.
09:43It was Skyrim with better, more refined visuals and smoother technical performance.
09:47And as the years have gone on, it's only gotten better, which is great.
09:58We could point out the addition of mod support on consoles and the addition of features like
10:01fishing, but the big selling point for us was playing this on PS4 Pro and eventually
10:06PS5.
10:07Playing Skyrim at a consistent 60 frames per second is almost like we're experiencing
10:11the game for the first time again.
10:13And once you play this version, you're never going back to the 2011 original.
10:25So which video game remaster is your favorite?
10:28Did it make our list?
