00:22Ladies and gentlemen, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. met with United States Defense Secretary Pete Hexhead on his courtesy call at Palacio Malacanang.
00:33He also gave a courtesy call to strengthen the friendship between the Philippines and America in the face of emerging geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
00:45The President said that this official visit is very important.
00:49The President also told many Filipinos that our country is a friend of America because of the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
00:59In his message, President R. Marcos Jr. thanked Secretary Hexhead for his visit to the Philippines when he first went to Rio.
01:09He expressed a strong message of the commitment of the two countries to maintain peace and stability in the face of issues in the South China Sea.
01:20Again, Defense Secretary Pete Hexhead shared the same sentiment and gave a strong promise of the U.S. in the Mutual Defense Treaty and the need to strengthen military-to-military cooperation.
01:33Meanwhile, the two leaders mentioned the importance of deepening military collaboration.
01:38Secretary Hexhead emphasized the intention of the U.S. to remain a partner of the Philippines to ensure free navigation of the territories in the South China Sea.
