00:17With barely half a week left until the official start of the Holy Week,

00:21the Land Transportation Franchise Regulatory Board, or LTFRB,

00:25has turned the green light on for more provincial buses to be deployed in the public bus terminals and or hubs.

00:32The LTFRB announced earlier today, having issued a little over a thousand special and interim permits for provincial buses

00:38to meet the ever-growing number of commuters heading out to bus terminals for their trips to their home provinces for the Lenten break.

00:46These permits take effect beginning Friday, April 11, up to the 27th of this month

00:51to accommodate all those extending their Lenten breathers out of town.

00:55Likewise, random oculars in public transport terminals have begun to verify the currency of operator documents and permits

01:03and ensure the safety and proper running condition of transport vehicles.

01:08Such unannounced inspections will continue throughout the Lenten travel timeline.

01:12LTFRB head Honcho Teofilo Guadis III urged commuters and travelers to plan their trips ahead,

01:19check bus trip schedules, ensure their good physical health and personal hygiene kits are in place,

01:25and secure other travel essentials and documentation.

01:31And in foreign news, the global trade war pitting the two economic heavyweights on the planet is officially on.

01:37And the U.S. government has just thrown in its first haymaker against China,

01:42which vows a tit-for-tat counterpunch and to never back down.

01:46After his Liberation Day announcement at the Rose Garden,

01:49unveiling his list of reciprocal tariffs on at least 180 countries,

01:54U.S. President Donald Trump has tacked 50 percent more to China's existing 54 percent levy days ago,

02:01after a 34 percent tit-for-tat response from China on all U.S. goods exported there.

02:07Despite repeated assurances and exhibiting an air of confidence amidst backlash in critics and supporters alike,

02:14U.S. President Donald Trump refuses to budge on his tariff policy

02:18and has gone to say some 50 or more counterparts have been calling him to cut deals and kiss his rear end.
