Air travel has been smoother this Hari Raya Aidilfitri season, especially for those returning to Sabah and Sarawak, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Speaking at a press conference after greeting passengers of Malaysia Airlines flight MH7404 to Kota Kinabalu at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Friday (March 28) night, Loke noted the lack of public complaints about difficulties in securing flight tickets, indicating improved travel conditions.

00:00To celebrate Hari Raya, and today is very special
00:03because the Minister of Transport himself came here to send off me
00:06Okay Adik, Happy Hari Raya
00:101, 2, 3, look at the camera, alright
00:16Tonight, I'm here at KLIA Terminal 1
00:20to send off the village's businessmen for Hari Raya Adil Fitri this year
00:28Today, the village's businessmen came back to celebrate Hari Raya
00:36especially to Sabah and Sarawak
00:38I would like to thank the Malaysian Airlines
00:43because in this Hari Raya Adil Fitri season
00:47they have carried out or managed more than 1,400 flights in a week
00:57Out of that, 415 are flights to Sabah and Sarawak
01:03and part of it is permanent flights
01:07This is an additional flight tonight
01:12where the Malaysian Airlines carried out this initiative
01:17firstly to increase the capacity of flights
01:22so that more people can return to Sabah and Sarawak for Hari Raya
01:27Secondly, this permanent flights initiative also provides ease
01:32and also cheaper flights to our people
01:37especially from Sabah and Sarawak to return for Hari Raya
01:41This is an additional initiative for the government
01:46to control the number of flights during this holiday season
01:51So, I would like to thank the Malaysian Airlines
01:56for responding to the government's request
02:00especially the Ministry of Transport
02:02to increase the number of flights
02:07because every time we increase the number of flights
02:11various challenges need to be overcome
02:14including managing the aircraft
02:18managing the crew schedule
02:21additional efforts need to be made
02:24to ensure that all additional flights can be carried out well
02:29So, this is a big challenge every time during the holiday season
02:33I am proud of the Malaysian Airlines for their efforts
02:37to increase the capacity
02:39and this year, we did not hear
02:41that we cannot buy flight tickets back to Sabah and Sarawak
02:45or flight tickets that are too expensive
02:48because we do have a base
02:50the maximum price during the holiday season
02:52In addition, there are lower permanent flights
02:57than our maximum price
02:59So, I would like to say thank you
03:01I hope all passengers can return home happily
