00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judah and I'm here with the birthday boy, the legend himself,
00:04the living legend, just about, just about, just about, 60 years old.
00:09Oh thanks, thanks.
00:10Happy birthday.
00:11It's a lot of candles to blow, that is.
00:13It is to be fair, it is to be fair, it's just one of those things, but it's a big cake though.
00:18It is a big cake, it's a big cake, it's a bonus, it's a win-win.
00:21Look, we're looking here, we're looking at the beautiful stadium, it's called So Many Goals,
00:26South Bank, North Bank, you're now a club ambassador, sat in the billiard right opposite Steve Ball's stand.
00:31I know, I know.
00:32You are more than you.
00:33I am, well it's my second home, I keep telling people it's my second home.
00:36I'm lucky to be fair because I can park my car right out the front, I can go anywhere I want.
00:40You get a nice car park spot do you?
00:41I'll take the mickey to be fair, I'll do take the mickey, but I'm a vice president so I can get away with it, you know what I mean.
00:46Absolutely.
00:47Right, let's take a little bit of a walk and talk, let's have a bit of a chat about things.
00:51First of all, let's talk about this season, it's a difficult season.
00:55What's it like for you, sat in there watching it, because it's difficult sometimes when you,
01:00I'm sure you want to be on that pitch and scoring the goals, it's frustrating.
01:03It is, it is, it's frustrating for me, it's frustrating for all the fans this year because it's like a transformation this year
01:08where new managers come in, you know what I mean, new players are coming in, well, a few new players.
01:13Yeah, yeah, not enough.
01:14Could do with a lot more new players, trust me, but as you say, we've seen other clubs doing it now, Chelsea, Man U,
01:19they're all going through this transformation now where the money is being stopped, you know what I mean,
01:24they've got to start using youngsters.
01:25Yes, I hope it does keep us in the Premier League because we need to be Premier League football status,
01:30we need to be in that Premier League.
01:31Yes, I wish I could go out there and turn the clock back 40 years, 40 years!
01:3640, crikey!
01:38Oh my word!
01:39I mean, when you watch some of them and you watch especially the strikers and they're missing some chances
01:42or they're getting frustrated, do you get frustrated watching them because you know what they should be doing
01:46or can you enjoy it and relax a little bit more?
01:50I do, I do.
01:51When I went to Miami with the lads in pre-season and I had a word with Stan Larson
01:55and I said to him, I said, you're going to be very frustrated this year because you won't get the service.
02:01He's like, great, cheers, I've got a sign!
02:03I tried to score the perfect goal where, you know what I mean, you get the ball in the box last week,
02:06he scores two, you know what I mean, and I'll watch him and I'll watch Kunja,
02:10I'll watch certain players that I just wished, I know, I know, I wish I could just go down there
02:14on one match day or before the match and say, I'm watching you doing this now,
02:19just adjust that little bit what you're doing here and there
02:22but it's not my position, they've got the coaching staff, they've got all the people there.
02:25Would you like to be more involved though, like sometimes,
02:27maybe just have 10, 15 minutes a week or just chat to certain players that you want to do?
02:31I certainly would, I certainly would but it's, I mean, they've got their own coaches,
02:34they've got their own fitness people, they've got their own dietitians and whatever,
02:37they've got all these people and they don't hold Stevie Bull walking around the ground
02:41and telling the players what to do because they go, look at that old fossil, I know he's scored goals
02:44but look at him!
02:45No, I would, I will speak to a strand, I will speak to individuals when they get a chance,
02:49five minutes, say, listen, the ball's coming this way and you do that and this,
02:52just to give them a bit of my advice, that's all.
02:54I mean, you mentioned a player there and someone who's a brilliant striker,
02:58a brilliant forward anyway, Mateus Kunja, obviously he's had his issues disciplinary this season,
03:02a lot of people saying he needs to cut it out but, I mean, look, you baffled when you were a striker as well,
03:08if you take that edge off someone like Kunja, do you lose a little bit, do you lose that 10%?
03:12Do you need to be living on that edge as a player, as a striker, can you understand it?
03:15You will be, you will be, it was the same as Wayne Rooney, he was a bit of a, I can't say nutcase,
03:21he was a bit of a hard case on the field and whatever, going his way, same as myself, got out of it
03:25and people saying, how about VAR, how would you feel bullying this side?
03:29I went, I won't be on the pitch, I won't be on the pitch because it was like a man's game then,
03:32it weren't going in and breaking people's legs or whatever, it was proper, a bit of touching, a bit of nudging,
03:38a bit of stuff, but you can't take it off Kunja because that's the way he is,
03:42you know, I think the two things he's done are, I think, silly, very silly,
03:47you know, but I think if you're going to get done, you're going to get done properly, you know what I mean?
03:51It's one of them, you don't just pull a shirt and then turn around and try and think about it,
03:54you're going to headbutt somebody, it's one of them where you think, oh, that's petty,
03:57especially in the 112th minute and you're finishing, he's got to keep that edge,
04:02but he's got to stop the silliness, that's all it is, the silliness,
04:05don't let people wind him up, let it go, walk away, you know what I mean?
04:08They've made the change in the season, obviously Gary O'Neill no longer the manager,
04:11Vitor Pereira's come in now, what do you make of Vitor Pereira,
04:14do you like what you've seen so far from him?
04:16Yeah, yeah, I've not spoke to him yet, you know, because I'm one of these,
04:19I keep away from the training ground or keep away from the pitch or the manager's office or whatever,
04:23I'll let them, when the time comes, I'll speak to them, whatever,
04:26and yeah, I mean, I think he's done well under the circumstances,
04:30you know, I think some people, they always say, you don't know what you're doing,
04:33and Gary O'Neill didn't always, Vitor, let them do the job,
04:36let them get settled, you know what I mean, say certain players come into the club,
04:39you think they ain't worth it, they have to get used to the premiership,
04:42and English football, that's what they have to do, and I think Vitor now,
04:45I think he's grasping what the premiership's about,
04:48and about what Wolves fans are about, what football, what Wolves are about.
04:51Yeah, he likes a pie, he likes a pie and happy days.
04:53Nothing wrong with that?
04:54There's nothing wrong with that.
04:55Look, we're going to, easy, easy, look, okay, 44 now, I'm only 16 years away,
05:00I'm only 16 years away, fully cranky.
05:06Look, he's thinking about a pie now, he's thinking about a pie now.
05:09I'm happy now, I'm going to have to get down and do some sprints.
05:11Right, okay, let's bring back, so a retro segment we used to do back in the day,
05:15we used to go to your house, Bully, to go and do it.
05:17There's a lot of fans who have got some questions for you, we've picked the ten best,
05:20so you've got to answer them on the spot, are you ready?
05:22On the spot, okay.
05:23There's some easy ones, there's some easy ones.
05:24I'll try my hardest, I'll try my hardest.
05:25Josh Baker says, what was it like to wear the shirt?
05:28To wear the shirt? Unbelievable, unbelievable.
05:30I know I'm going to have a picture of me with a wool shirt with 60 on.
05:34Every time I put it on I feel proud, I still feel proud now after the years I've been retired.
05:39It's unbelievable.
05:41You can't say to people, it's better than this, it's better than that.
05:44It ain't, it's a real thing, trust me, especially with all these here.
05:47Beautiful.
05:48Amazing. James Brewers says, favourite Wolves moment outside your own career?
05:53Favourite Wolves moment? Oh my word, favourite Wolves moment.
05:57I think it's got to be Sheffield United in the cup game at Wembley,
06:02because I was in the box there and we're 3-0 up and we've got the champagne in the corner
06:08and they're saying, shall we open it?
06:09I went, no, you know what Wolves are like, they'll throw it away.
06:12So we didn't, but that's one of the experiences I think, this is it, this is class for Wolves.
06:16This is it, okay.
06:17Mark says, did you actually like Quasar boots or did you wear others on a match day?
06:22No, I had to wear Quasar because they, I can tell you, they paid me four grand a season
06:27so I had to wear them, so that's all it was.
06:29That's a decent one, but they weren't bad boots to be fair.
06:32A learning friend of mine, me and Lineker, we were sponsored by them and they were good boots
06:37but the best boots I actually wore, if you want to know the best boots, was Mizuno.
06:42They're the most comfiest ones I ever had before they started changing the shapes and the leathers and whatever.
06:47Mizuno was the best boot.
06:48You can still get a little bit of cash for them now, a little bit of a plug, happy days, always available.
06:51Get on board.
06:52Karl, favourite strike partner?
06:54Favourite strike partner, well I've got to say it, it's got to be Mr Andy Much.
06:58I know you're going to say Keeney, I played seven games with Keeney before I actually finished.
07:02He was a skilful player, he was a great lad.
07:04But Much is the one, Much is the one who was like my right arm.
07:08We were like a piece of string, follow each other, whatever.
07:11You just knew exactly.
07:12And the best thing about it, me and Much, he's from Liverpool, I'm from Tipton, right?
07:16We couldn't understand a word we said to each other.
07:19He's going, calm down, calm down, Much will get number five.
07:22And that's what he was.
07:23We got on well, mate, we got on well, absolutely brilliant.
07:25Next one, David Ellerton, biggest regret in football?
07:29Biggest regret?
07:30None.
07:31None, I like that.
07:32No regrets at all.
07:33At all, you know what I mean?
07:34I know they're probably going to say, regret is like going to the Albion to start with,
07:38but you have to start somewhere, you know what I mean?
07:40You've got to start from the bottom and work up.
07:41That's right, you've got to work yourself up.
07:43But I've got none at all.
07:44People say to me, what have you done wrong?
07:46What's this, what's bad?
07:47Nothing.
07:48I have had nearly the best 40 years ever in football, in football life,
07:51even being an ambassador for the club now.
07:54Nathan says, who was the best player you ever played with in England shirts?
07:58Oh, best player, best player has got to be a good friend of mine, Mr Paul Gascoigne.
08:03Mr Paul Gascoigne, he's a barn pot, he's a fruit pot, he's round the bend,
08:08but he's an absolutely, he was like a magician on the field.
08:13What he could do with a ball, people say he was a bit like George Best.
08:17You know what I mean, what he could do with a ball together, it was unbelievable.
08:20And Gas are top drawers and if anybody gets a chance to see him to speak,
08:23go and see him because he's got some great stories from the World Cup and everything,
08:26absolutely brilliant.
08:27I bet he has.
08:28Spencer says, you were one of the last players to play for England
08:32outside of, I guess, the First Division or the Premier League now.
08:36Do you think that that will ever happen again?
08:38No, no, no.
08:41I still say to this day that if people are doing their job in any division,
08:47if they've excelled themselves, they should be given a chance.
08:49Me personally, you know what I mean, because all I did was score goals.
08:52They brought me in for the World Cup to score goals and that's it, full stop.
08:56And there's players down there below, in the Championship or the league below,
08:59are good enough to play for England.
09:01But me, in my eyes, I go in names rather than players in form.
09:06You know what I mean, the players in form, it's the same when England were playing
09:09and Kevin Phillips who played for the old banging goals in front of me,
09:12Quinn E, never got a chance.
09:14I think if they're doing their job, give them a chance.
09:16I think you were the last one, I think Paul Merson as well, when he was at Borough.
09:19But apart from that, like you say, it's been quite a few years.
09:21There's not many more, but there are players out there who I think are capable to play for England.
09:25Brilliant. Vicky says, do you think Wolves should bring back Raoul next season
09:30to mentor Jürgen Strand-Larsen, obviously act as an alternative number nine?
09:35Well, they always say you shouldn't go back on trodden ground or something like that.
09:38Don't go back to the next bully.
09:40That's it, mate, you got it.
09:42But Raoul's a great player. He's a lovely bloke. I've met him a few times.
09:45And he's a great goal scorer.
09:47And people were saying when he had his head injury, he wasn't the same player.
09:51He was the same player, he just lost the two players around him.
09:54Because he was playing with the three, Winnie Sacco and all the others.
09:57Outside the ones we fought after that, he was playing with them,
09:59Traore and Jota.
10:01They were all playing as a three.
10:03Where in the end, he was playing on his own, getting no service, nothing at all.
10:06Blame his head and then get rid of him.
10:08Look at him now. Look at him now. He's playing with Traore and people there.
10:11He's flying. He's absolutely flying.
10:14I've been giving back all day long.
10:16Just for the experience. It's the same as Metinio.
10:18I've been giving Metinio back for the experience.
10:20Just for coaching the young kids.
10:22Exactly.
10:24Last two. Ellen says
10:26you've got to start one, bench one and sell one.
10:29Three players. So start, bench and sell.
10:31These are the three players.
10:33So you've got to start, bench and sell.
10:35Raoul, between these three players.
10:37Raoul Jimenez, Jorgen Stranlarsson,
10:39Sylvain Ebanks-Blake.
10:41Oh, sugar.
10:43Start one.
10:45Oh, I can't.
10:47I've got to go with Stran first.
10:49Then I'll go with Jimenez.
10:51You're selling Ebanks.
10:53I've got to.
10:55I think if it was off the record.
10:57No, no, no.
10:59OK. Mark Evans.
11:01Would you like to see the Steve Ball Stran get a facelift?
11:04A bit like me.
11:06I was going to say that was my next question.
11:08You beat me to the end.
11:10You killed it.
11:13I would, yes.
11:15I'd like to see the ground like that all the way round.
11:17I wish I could say to the people out there
11:19who are going to listen to this
11:21about what they're going to do with the ground.
11:23Are they going to relocate?
11:25I wish the club would say to me sometimes
11:27what I can tell the fans and what to do.
11:29Because I know as much as them lot out there.
11:31I don't know whether they're going to move it anywhere.
11:33I don't know what they're going to do.
11:35The first thing's first.
11:37Establish yourself on the field first.
11:39Make sure you're there all day long
11:41I'd love to see it.
11:43I'd love to see it.
11:45Oh yeah.
11:47No statue.
11:49I ain't dead yet.
11:51A couple more years.
11:53Let's get a facelift.
11:55Happy 60th my friend.
