00:00Welcome to Medihan TV. We are in Lille, in the north of France, where young people with or without a diploma are discovering a vocation for the camera.
00:18With other young people away from work or studies, these young people are taking their first step on a film set by producing a mini-series projected at the end of March at the Mania Festival, which lasts until March 28.
00:32Headphones on, eyes on, back screen, two apprentice directors orchestrate a scene from this dystopian series, Maslow, in the disaffected corridors of an old annex of the Lille Prefecture.
00:45This seven-month program, funded by France Travail and AFDAS, is open every year since 2023 to about twenty young people aged 18 to 25 without a diploma.
00:59It allows them to learn the basics of serial writing and the technical professions of audiovisual. I invite you to listen to Daphne Courbeau, she is in charge of this training.
01:12Absolutely, that's it. These are young people who have not had the chance to make the right choices for economic reasons, who may be angry with studies and the school environment.
01:25Some of them have studied, but not at all in the field of audiovisual, and who have opposite paths. Now they are adults and they have the opportunity to make a choice and to orient themselves and see if they can really enter this field.
01:42It gives us the opportunity to hear other discourses, other stories to tell, because they have more difficult paths. They may want to say things that we do not hear.
01:58After seven months, it's short, so you have to give them time to digest everything they have learned in a very short time.
02:05The students have made their mini-series of five episodes of five minutes of writing in post-production, interpreted by students of the Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique de Lille.
02:16The program makes sense in a dynamic region where an impressive amount of series, short films and documentaries are produced.
02:24And in 2023, this training, which is a step towards professional inclusion, where a pursuit of studies remains fragile, taxable. Public funding is subject to the requirements of results in a sector where integration can take time.
02:38Among the students of the first promotion, one has resumed his studies, two work under the status of show intermittent, while the others continue their missions in audiovisual while occupying other jobs.
02:50These productions will be presented at the Mania International Series Festival. The 2025 edition continues until March 28 in Lille.
03:00And the series will also be able to discover nearly 50 productions from around 20 countries, while attending many meetings and animations.
03:12I suggest you listen to Elsa Oké. She is a student and Thibaut Salmon is also a student.
03:19It's a pride. Then we also have a little bit of pressure. But it's a great chance to be able to show our work to everyone in the context of this festival, which is very impressive.
03:32And the fact of going from spectator to show a project there, there is still a special effect.
03:40Before, I didn't do anything. I worked in logistics, so it had nothing to do with audiovisual. I just had my little hobby next door, which was photography.
03:49So, since I was a kid, I've been doing photography and it made me want to push it further. I've been interested in the world of cinema since I was a kid, watching making of and all that.
03:58It really made me want to go into the world.
04:01And from music to finish is the Aga Khan Master Musician collective, all residents of the Aga Khan program for music.
04:09This group is the meeting between original musicians from Central Asia, China, the Middle East and North Africa.
04:17Set up by the program in 2013, the collective is inspired by the music of the regions that used to communicate through the Trans-Eurasian trade routes, a network better known as the Silk Road.
04:31Its goal is to create a set of works with a striking originality in which the living musical traditions and diversified from these regions are married.
04:41Over the last ten years, the musicians of the Aga Khan Master Musician have produced together around the world, offering their audience a new work that traces the centuries of a diversified musical heritage.
04:55I'll let you enjoy this excerpt.
