00:00The leader of the Senate refused the request of the House Impeachment Prosecutors.

00:06Vice President Sara Duterte was sent summons to be answered in the Articles of Impeachment against her.

00:15Tina Pangaliban-Pere was appointed.

00:21The Office of the Vice President has now accepted the copy of the motion of the House Impeachment Prosecutors in the Senate

00:27asking for a copy of the summons.

00:30But Senate President Cheese Escudero refused the request of the House Impeachment Prosecutors

00:34asking for a copy of the summons to be answered in the Articles of Impeachment against her.

00:39Ani Escudero, this can only be done if the Senate has a session, which will happen in June.

00:46I will not do anything that is illegal, unless a special session is called, which I doubt.

00:53If the Senate has a session, only then can they present the Articles of Impeachment,

00:59to convene the Impeachment Courts.

01:02This is because some Impeachment Prosecutors have been pestering for a long time.

01:06Session is needed during legislative function of the Senate,

01:11but session is not needed when it comes to impeachment function of the Senate.

01:17According to Escudero, the long wait for the hearing is not in vain.

01:22This is also the case with others, like the ICC.

01:25The ICC has no recess, but they scheduled the hearing in September.

01:31I said that the trial will start in July, but the preliminaries, the pre-trial procedures will be done in June.

01:39We even have a recess for that.

01:41So if you will judge, that time is reasonable.

01:45While they are waiting, the Impeachment Prosecutors are preparing.

01:50Although the House Impeachment Prosecutors are already preparing,

01:54they still have things to decide.

01:57Like who will spread the arguments in each Article of Impeachment,

02:02and if they will add witnesses who have already faced the hearings of the House of Representatives.

02:08There are also private prosecutors who are helping in the House Prosecution Panel,

02:12but they are not formally named yet.
