One of the co-directors of the Oscar-winning documentary 'No Other Land' was injured and detained after a conflict that took place on the West Bank. Israeli director Yuval Abraham claimed on X that a group of settlers had beaten Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal, who was later detained by members of the Israeli military.

00:13beaten Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Bilal, who was later detained by members of the Israeli military.
00:19Abraham wrote in part,
00:20He has injuries in his head and stomach, bleeding.
00:24Tuesday morning, Abraham, who co-directed No Other Land with Bilal,
00:27posted an update to say that Bilal had been released.
00:30He wrote,
00:31After being handcuffed all night and beaten in a military base,
00:34Hamdan Bilal is now free and is about to go home to his family.
00:38The violence took place on Monday night in Bilal's hometown.
00:41The activist group Center for Jewish Non-Violence said later that day
00:45that after residents of the village encouraged a single settler to leave,
00:48dozens allegedly appeared and attacked a couple of homes,
00:51stealing security cameras and battering water tanks.
00:54The IDF offered a different version of events in its own statement on Monday,
00:58saying the violence in the village started after,

01:00several terrorists hurled rocks at Israeli citizens, damaging their vehicles.
01:04They said both sides began throwing rocks at one another,
01:07and as IDF and Israeli police arrived at the conflict,

01:14Both parties said three Palestinians were detained after the conflict.
01:17No Other Land, directed by four filmmakers, two Israeli and two Palestinian,
01:22took home the prize for Best Documentary at the 97th Annual Academy Awards on March 2.
01:27Despite its Oscar win, No Other Land has yet to be picked up by a major U.S. distributor.
01:31Co-director Abraham has suggested that the lack of U.S. interest in picking up the project
01:36is due to the film's criticism of Israeli military and political actions.
