00:00Liverpool City Council has partly suspended parking restrictions around Bramley Moor Dock until August after concerns were raised about the economic impact on local businesses.
00:11Some business owners warned city officials they could go bust if changes were not made.
00:17Dozens turned out at Blackstock Market earlier this month urging the council to change course on the scheme.
00:24The parking measures were introduced around Everton Football Club's new stadium.
00:29First introduced for the first test event last month, they've now been partially suspended in business areas of the new zone.
00:36The local authority is reviewing the parking restrictions with temporary changes coming into effect along the city's waterfront,
00:43from Canada Dock to Leeds Street and extending eastwards into the Pumpfields District.
00:48However, the new parking restrictions will remain in place in nearby residential areas including the Eldonian Village, Great Homer Street and parts of Kirkdale.
00:57Residents who haven't yet applied for their free parking permits are encouraged to do so, with each household eligible for one visitor permit at no cost.
01:05The review also follows feedback from a public consultation that's gathered over 5,000 responses, helping shape further adjustments to the scheme.
01:14Since the first test event, several improvements have already been made.
01:18These include updates to the event traffic management plan, enhanced street lighting along walking routes to the stadium,
01:25clearer pedestrian signage and better guidance for shuttle, bus and taxi ranks.
01:30With the football season fast approaching, an updated parking plan will be revealed by August,
01:36ensuring smoother access for fans and residents alike as Everton prepares to host matches at their brand new 52,000 seater venue.
