Funding boost for Liverpool’s Central Park

00:00Plans for Liverpool's very own New York-inspired Central Park have taken a step forward thanks to an investment boost.
00:08Plans to redevelop the historic Central Docks were given the green light by the Council last year
00:13and the project will see hundreds of trees planted and over 2,300 homes built at the largest part of the Liverpool Waters scheme.
00:21Redevelopment of the area around the Tobacco Warehouse and Everton's new stadium at Bramley Moor Dock
00:26include the establishment of a public Central Park.
00:29The local authority is set to receive £55 million of Brownfield Infrastructure Land grant funding from Homes England
00:35to accelerate the regeneration project.
00:37While the new Central Park won't compare with the size of its famous American namesake,
00:41it'll be one of the city's biggest green areas at 4.7 acres
00:45and its design will celebrate the site's industrial heritage and coastal locations,
00:48blending woodland, plantations, wetlands, community gardens and open parkland.
00:53The park will also feature amenities such as shelters, recreational facilities and wildlife habitats.
