Police have arrested 28 individuals in a statewide crackdown on illegal street racing, which ran for two consecutive weeks from March 10 to 24.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the operation, known as Ops Samseng Jalanan, was conducted simultaneously across all districts under the state contingent’s jurisdiction.

00:20A total of 291 motorcycles were seized under Section 64, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport
00:26Act, 1987.
00:29Police also issued 2,768 summonses for various traffic offenses, with the highest being for
00:36driving without a valid license, followed by non-compliant vehicle registration plates
00:41and non-standard exhaust modifications.
00:44The suspects, aged 14 to 36, are being investigated under Section 42, Subsection 1 of the same
00:51act.
00:52If convicted, they face up to five years in prison, a 15,000 ringgit fine and a five-year
00:58license suspension.
