00:17The para-athletes of Wheelchair Basketball
00:20showed off their strength and skill
00:23in the exhibition game held in Lungsoda, Marikina
00:26only on Monday night.
00:28These games became possible
00:31because of the participation of Coach Chris Bautista
00:34of Ball Out Hoops
00:36and Frank Clow of Strong Group Athletics
00:38who brought Wheelchair Basketball to the mainstream media.
00:42The participants of the games were
00:44Pasig Assassins and Quezon City Stallions
00:48as well as the National Wheelchair Basketball Teams
00:51of the Philippines Zeus Coffee and Pilipinas Nudge Plus.
00:55The Philippine sports team was led by
00:58our countryman Kenneth Tapia
01:01and the 2024 Paralympic Games
01:04was led by the former national team wheelchair basketball player
01:07Gerald Pete Mangliwan.
01:09This is a good opportunity for them
01:11to introduce Wheelchair Basketball to the sports fans.
01:15For us, the Philippine team,
01:17it's a big thing for the mainstream media
01:20to show us on TV
01:22because we don't always get noticed
01:26even though we represent the Philippines
01:28in various international competitions.
01:30So, it's a big thing for us
01:32to show our talent in playing basketball.
01:35We are thankful to the organizer,
01:37Sir Chris,
01:39for giving us this opportunity
01:42because it's a big thing
01:44for people to have awareness
01:47regarding para sports.
01:49That's what we're chasing here.
01:51Hopefully, in the future,
01:53para sports will be recognized here.
01:57And then, of course, people will support
02:00Wheelchair Basketball.
02:02Among those who supported the program
02:05was PBA legend,
02:07Allan the Trigger Man,
02:09who was inspired by his actions
02:11in Wheelchair Basketball.
02:13I remember when I used to play in PBA
02:16in my early years,
02:18we used to go to Tahanang Walang Hadda
02:21in Cahinta.
02:23We used to support there.
02:25And I'm happy to see
02:27especially the national team
02:29that has this league for them.
02:33So, thank you very much
02:36and good luck in the fallout,
02:38of course, in the SGA
02:40for Wheelchair Basketball.
02:42For the results of the two exhibition games,
02:46Pasig won against Quezon City 50-46,
02:50while Pilipinas Nudge Plus won
02:53against Pilipinas Zeus Coffee 61-47.
02:58With the help of initiatives
03:00like this Wheelchair Basketball Tournament,
03:02our para athletes will be given a platform
03:05so that they can show their skills
03:08in the field of strength.
03:10From Marikina City, Danilo Juarez,
03:13for Atletang Pilipino, for Bagong Pilipina.
