00:00In the barangay of Sumilang, General Luna Quezon, you can be sure that you will enjoy the strong and fast flow of water of the Bolong-Bolongan River.
00:22But aside from this, the Bolong-Bolongan in the river...
00:26What is your wish?
00:29Can I borrow some tools for our journey?
00:36I will give you a gift, not a fairy godmother, but a stone in the river.
00:42The story of 56-year-old Ruben, his parents once fell into the river.
00:57I read about my father's story. My mother told me that there are a lot of thieves in the river.
01:07His father asked for a plate. After a few days, it was granted.
01:15And his father also witnessed in a wedding where the bride was wearing a wedding gown.
01:24And he did not buy it, but just asked for a broken stone.
01:30The river where the stone is really wrapped in a veil.
01:36According to the story, this is why it is called the Bolong-Bolongan River because of the voices or sounds that can be heard here even if there are no people.
01:49It's loud, there's a big whistle.
01:52We look at it, there's no one singing.
01:55The brother said, that's my brother.
01:58He said, don't be loud.
02:00Someone is making us feel.
02:04Jaime is 78 years old. He is one of the long-time residents of the place.
02:10He also witnessed the elements that live in the river.
02:13You can see beautiful women here whenever the moon is bright.
02:19You can hear the beautiful music here until the silence of the night.
02:24But not in a remote place.
02:27It's really here. Here in this place, there are really Bolong-Bolongans.
02:35For Ronnie, the captain of Barangay Sumulong,
02:39the stories about the Bolong-Bolongan River really took root in their place.
02:45In the early 1970s, according to the elders, the sounds come from nature.
02:54From water, from the wind.
02:57They say that there are sounds coming from Bolong-Bolongan.
03:01That's where it started. That's why it's called Bolong-Bolongan.
03:08According to the anthropologist, Dr. Castro,
03:12the beliefs in mysteries or things that cannot be explained,
03:17like Bolong-Bolongan, and the wishes that come true.
03:22Maybe there is a disorientation in his senses.
03:28Maybe he hears things that he shouldn't hear.
03:34And he believes that the Bolong-Bolongan came from mythical creatures.
03:45The beliefs in mysteries or things that cannot be explained,
03:49are part of our culture.
03:52For the residents of Barangay Sumilang,
03:55the things they heard and experienced are hard to explain.
03:59Believe it or not,
04:01for the Bolong-Bolongan or Hiling,
04:04this is part of their memory in a place that they will never forget.
04:31The Bolong-Bolongan
