00:00Jody Joy at Wembley Stadium, a sight not seen by generations of black and white supporters.
00:12Well, history has been made by Newcastle United. Goals from Dan Burnham and Alexander Isaac
00:19have allowed them to lift the Carabao Cup, the first major trophy for Newcastle United
00:24since 1969 and the first domestic trophy since 1955. This team is now immortal. Eddie Howe
00:31becomes a Newcastle United legend and the supporter celebrations will probably go long
00:35into the night here in London. It was an exhilarating game, a stressful game, but one
00:42that all those here of a black and white persuasion will never forget for the rest of their lives.
00:49Following their night in Covent Garden on Saturday, Newcastle United supporters made
00:53their way to Wembley Stadium on Sunday with a spring in their step. Yes, they were the underdogs
01:00going into the Carabao Cup final with Liverpool, but there was almost a sense of anticipation
01:06that maybe this could be their day. Newcastle did not have a good recent record against Liverpool
01:12and yet there was definite hope of change. It's great really just because it's like something
01:21that's never happened. I've never seen anything like this before, so it's just like it's great.
01:25What do you think, Dad? What's the thoughts ahead of the game today?
01:28Nervous but excited. Just hope we can do it. I think we can.
01:37It feels a bit more calm, I think. I think it's more hope rather than expectation. It was just
01:44a bit frantic the last time, wasn't it? Everyone was emotional and it feels like Eddie Howe wanted
01:49the emotion to be taken out of it. I can almost sense that in the fans. Look, they're enjoying
01:52their day. Of course, they are enjoying it last night, but it's a bit of calmness and it's weird
01:56to say because you want to see the atmosphere, but as far as Newcastle are concerned, I think it's
02:00quite nice to see. Liverpool supporters were there more in expectation, however.
02:09Who's going to score?
02:10Salah, two and Diaz, one.
02:13Salah and... Salah, one and Virgil, one.
02:17You don't think Newcastle's going to score?
02:18No.
02:19You think Newcastle are a good team?
02:21Yeah. No, not really. I reckon...
02:28Yeah, good guess.
02:29I've got to go for Salah. Salah, first goal. Diaz and maybe Gap go when it comes on.
02:38I'm not too sure for Newcastle.
02:40Newcastle could today end the long wait for major silverware. Who knows? Anything could happen,
02:45but Newcastle fans are certainly up for it.
02:48And so were their team. Dan Byrne's powerful header on the stroke of half-time caused bedlam
02:54in the stands. It was Newcastle's first Wembley goal since 2000,
02:59and then came Alexander Isaac to turn the dreams into reality.
03:04A late Liverpool goal from Federico Chiesa added nerves, but Eddie Howe's side had done it.
03:11Yeah, drenched in alcohol, I think, by Joe Linton and the rest of the squad.
03:16But a great moment, and that's what it's all about. It's about embracing the success.
03:20You have so many difficult days in football, and this club's had its fair share over the years.
03:26So just trying to enjoy the moment and take it all in.
03:29An incredible day, really. So, so pleased with our performance.
03:33And back on Wembley Way, the emotions were pouring out.
03:37I saw the women's first cup 56 years ago. It's a long time to wait.
03:42Supported Matt as my dad. Supported Matt to Wembley the second time in two years,
03:46so we've got a much nicer journey home today. But just in control all the way through,
03:50which was just amazing.
03:51It's very hard to put that into words. I'm pretty speechless, to be honest,
03:54but you can probably tell by my voice. I've been shouting a lot, as has the rest of the lads,
04:00and the crowd were fantastic, the players were fantastic.
04:04Gave 100 per cent, and that's all you can ask.
04:06Best day of your life?
04:06Oh, without a doubt.
04:08It's up there.
04:08Yeah, definitely.
04:09If I get married, if I have kids, this is still top of the list.
04:12Shout you out for the State of the Service game.
04:16Which, yeah, it definitely was fantastic.
04:20I was just saying to my mate there, I'm speechless, to be honest.
04:24It doesn't feel real yet.
04:25Because we're just not used to it all, but it happens to be unbelievable.
04:32It happens to be fantastic.
04:34Newcastle then had won the Cup, as their supporters sang loud and proud.
