00:00Today we're doing something quite big, because I'm going to the UK's biggest supercar dealer
00:06to very disruptive men, Karl Hartley and Tom Hartley. Now I'm taking an expensive watch,
00:12at least one of my classic cars, and I want to get some deals done.
00:30Let's go. So this is the Bugatti we spoke about. This is the Saint-Noir SPECT. If you have a look,
00:53this is exposed carbon roof and all the back end is. It just looks black on the
01:00you know, to the eye, but when you get closer, you see that cost 400,000 option.
01:05Yeah. Only three of these, this car has done a thousand kilometers and has been sold.
01:131200 horsepower compared to a thousand horsepower. Wow. And is that, that's how it comes with that?
01:19Yeah. Yeah. Normally the car at the minute is in race mode because it just sits better. It looks
01:24nicer, but when it's, you know, you wouldn't really drive one in this mode because the front
01:31of the car sits very, very, very low to the floor. It lowers and it's too low to really drive on a
01:36road. But it just looks cool. Yeah. Yeah. This is a new Ferrari. This is the new model, the 296 GTB.
01:46This is a V6 hybrid, but it produces like 880 brake horsepower. It's an incredible thing to
01:57drive. Is it quiet? No, it's not actually. No, it's not. They've put an exhaust on it. This car
02:04has got a sports exhaust as part of the spec, but no, it's amazing. So they're a good car.
02:10Is this the one where you can't drive it on the hybrid? It's just got a hybrid assist?
02:13No, you can drive it on the hybrid. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We have a Mercedes-Benz AMG
02:20GT Black Series. This is sold as well. How much? 370,000. Right. And the Black Series,
02:28they make not many of them, is that? 500. Yeah. And I guess that's low for Mercedes.
02:32Look for Mercedes, very low. Yeah. Very low. Because obviously they're a mass-produced company.
02:37Yeah. But they do make these really low number of limited editions. Do they? Which are normally
02:42Black Series. Yeah. What's this one called? This is my baby, this one. Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
02:49look how beautiful that is. Also, so I had dinner recently with Horatio Pagani.
02:54Someone told me he doesn't speak English. Was that you? Obviously he does.
02:57No, he's Argentinian that speaks Italian. And believe me, he speaks English if he needs to
03:10speak English. It's not his first, second or third language, but he can understand and
03:17converse back if there's money involved. But he was kind enough, if you pop your head in there,
03:24you'll see he signed my car. Oh, wow. Do you want to get in there, Harry? Look. Oh, nice.
03:30Harry, get all this as well. I mean, that's a spaceship, isn't it?
03:39The gearbox, how it's all open works. Yeah.
03:46And this, you see this, so obviously the whole car's carbon fibre, but you see the weave on this
03:51carbon fibre is very different to the weave on this carbon fibre. The reason is because this
03:56carbon fibre is weaved with titanium. So it's lighter and it's stronger. It's a material that
04:04Pagani actually created called Carbtanium. Now they should have thought of a better name than
04:08that, but it says exactly what it is, I suppose. So it just makes the, I mean, this car's 1260
04:16kilos in weight with 760 horsepower. So it's very capable. And that's something that you drive a
04:25bit. It's not something you just do. Yeah. How many miles a year? So I've had this car for two years.
04:31Bearing in mind, I've only had my license back for eight months and I've done 4,000 miles in it.
04:38Oh, wow. So you do drive them? Yeah, I do drive them, yeah. That's what they're there for.
04:42Yeah. You know, it's, who am I saving it for? And like we discussed earlier, this is one of 100 ever
04:47made. It's one of four UK supplied right-hand drive cars. So if this is too high mileage for
04:53you, you go buy another one. I'm definitely learning some things here, yeah. What else have you got?
05:00Over here we have a Ferrari F12 TDF. Once again, a limited numbered car, limited to 779.
05:08Yeah. 799, sorry. Right. 799 cars. Rough money for that? So this is basically a Speciale
05:17but an F12 version. So this is 900,000. Yeah, right. And the standard models, how much?
05:24The standard model now is, you know, a very good one's 200,000. Right. So you pay a lot more for
05:29the- Pay a lot more. But it's a different car. Got a new 812 GTS Ferrari, another SVJ,
05:38two SVJs here and a new Rolls Royce Cullinan. Right. The milk truck.
05:44And then, oh, come on, I'll take you downstairs. Yeah.
05:52Right, what have we got down here then? So we have 812 Superfast, three GT3 RSs. Three of them.
06:00And a GT2 RSs and a GT3 at the end. The GT3 sold. How much was that one? The one at the end? Yeah.
06:06It sold for 200,000. Right. These are all 350, 350, 350, 350. Yeah.
06:11This is a very rare car. This is an SLS Final Series, 440,000. It's done 400 miles from new.
06:23Wow. 2014 with 400 miles. So the person who bought this car bought it solely for an investment.
06:29You know, the car would have cost 250,000 new. It's now 440,000. Right. And it's got the gold
06:35wing, has it? It's got the gold wing doors. It's got a few black series options, the carbon bonnet
06:40and the wing at the back. That doesn't quite have the same, the same body kit as the black series.
06:46Isn't quite the same power, but it's the last, last, last, last edition of an SLS. Yeah. A couple
06:54of McLarens here. 720S, really good value for money car, these. I'm a big fan of these cars.
07:00Yeah. You don't buy much for. So this car is very much like we said earlier about the Aventador.
07:06This is 150,000 pounds. It would have cost thick end of 300,000 pounds.
07:14And performance wise, there's only probably an SVJ or a GT2 RS that can compare to this.
07:20Right. So a lot of car for the money. A lot of car for the money. Did you say that's a 720S? 720S. Yeah.
07:26And that's 150. Wow. A lot of car for 150. When you think a diesel Range Rover today is 150,000.
07:33Wow. And that one is? That's a McLaren 600LT. Yeah. That's an older model, is it? No, it's not.
07:42So the 570, that's based on a 570, which is the lower end model. But that's, once again, that's
07:49the GT3 RS version of a McLaren 570. The 600LT is the more track focused. Yeah. Really good driving cars.
07:56McLaren makes some great cars. How much is that one? I'm a big fan. That is 140,000. Wow.
08:02It's quite cheap. So they've not gone crazy up like other. They've gone down. Models, yeah.
08:08They've gone down quite a lot. Why do you think they've gone down then?
08:13Well, new cars tend to drop initially. McLaren haven't got the best reputation in the world
08:19in the media because, you know, it seems like every car that's set on fire is a McLaren.
08:25Right. But I can assure you it's not. Loads of other cars do set on fire.
08:31McLaren, they've just got a bad end of the stick. I don't think the companies run great,
08:35but they still make great cars. Well, that's a good thing, isn't it?
08:38I don't think the companies run great, but they still make great cars.
08:43Whoever runs a company is not doing a great job. That looks like a lot of car for the money.
08:47It's a lot. They make great value for money cars secondhand. I mean, that car's a quarter
08:52of a million pounds now, which it represents that. It doesn't represent any more than that,
08:58but it represents that. But at just over half price, it's good value. But I take it there's
09:06not a low number run of this or is there of this one? They're not actually numbered as in one of
09:12X amount, but it is a lot lower number than your production model McLaren. Yeah. I like that one.
09:22Performance wise, which one of those two is best? The 720. Yeah. By a long way or? Depends. You
09:27know, if you're on a track and it depends what track it is, the 600 would have the advantage.
09:34But for me, the 720 is just more powerful. Yeah. It's faster in a straight line. These are great
09:42round corners, but they're more based for tracks. Right. Looks lovely though, doesn't it?
09:48Ferrari lineup. Yeah, I recognize that one. Yeah, so do I. This is an F8 Tributo.
09:58All the cars that we've got are not all actually in the showroom. I've got loads that are getting
10:03prepared to be put on sale. Loads are in another showroom that won't quite fit in this one and
10:08some at service centers and stuff. But the majority, I mean, I've pretty much got every
10:12model Ferrari. Right. This is what you're here to see. How nice is that? I need an extra pair of
10:20pants on. So this has got the G50 gearbox, the five speed G50 gearbox. It's an 80,000 miles.
10:29Originally guards red, is guards red. It's had a good bit of restoration work over the years,
10:36but it's a very good car. Long-term ownership. Yeah. So you think that would be one to buy and
10:42hold and might do all right. I think that's such a timeless car. Yeah. And the kind of car you think,
10:47you know what? I want to drive to work today in that car. Yeah. And you can. Yeah.
10:51Yeah. And what sort of money is this? 130,000. Right. Yeah. It's nice. Yeah. Look at that.
11:02And if it was your choice, would you get this or, um, what was the Ferrari you mentioned earlier?
11:08Three, five, five. Yeah. Um, I'm, I'm, I'm more a fan of these. If I'm honest with you, I think,
11:13I think that's a better looking car. I think they drive better. Um, yeah, I'd, um, I'd,
11:20I'd choose that. Yeah. But that's my personal opinion. Yeah. You wouldn't go, you won't go
11:26wrong with a three, five, five. It's a Ferrari. It's a good car. The thing with the three, five,
11:31five is you've got to want to be picky. Like what we talked about with the XJS is you, um,
11:35you've got to buy a manual. You have to buy a manual three, five, five, because there's
11:40so many F1s, the F1s a bit shit. And if you want something that is a better long-term investment
11:47is manual and a car that drives better is manual. The thing with these kind of the same thing,
11:52they didn't do an auto, they've done a four speed and a five speed, but the five speed is the one
11:56to have. Right. Yeah. You could do like 70 mile an hour in first gear in the four speed.
12:02Open it. It should be open.
12:07And with it, with storage, do you need to properly store it? Can you leave it in your
12:12own garage? Yeah, of course. It's a Porsche, German. Like they just, they just make the best,
12:18most resilient cars ever. If you want, um, you know, uh, a country of people to build something
12:24for you, it'd be the Germans. Yeah. Yeah. If you want them to design it, it'd be the Italians.
12:30But that's why my Pagani is so special. It's Italian design and German engineering. It's got
12:34an AMG engine. So no AMG engine. So that engine is a, um, a V12, six liter twin turbo AMG.
12:44Yeah, it goes, but it's reliable and it looks great.
12:49That is lovely. I've got long legs. It'd be difficult to get in it.
12:53You want me to move the seat back? If that's all right. Yeah. Yeah.
13:00What year is this? 1989.
13:07Yeah. 87. Right. Don't go back any further than that.
13:12Yeah.
13:22Yes. Lovely. First impressions? Love it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is the one, isn't it?
13:32What do you think about the color? Yeah, I quite like it.
13:36Out of the colors to have, what do you, would you say the colors are? Does it matter?
13:40Yeah. Yeah, of course. Yeah, of course. I had a really, really good example here recently that
13:44was in a color called zinc silver. Um, and it took me ages to sell it and I thought it looked
13:50beautiful, but everyone wants red or black. Oh, right. Yeah. That's just because they seen one
13:55in red in a movie that they liked or, and they wanted that car. And if it's silver, it's not
13:59really the same car, you know? Yeah. Yeah. It's nice. All right. Let's see what else you've got.
14:07Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the way a door should sound.
14:20Oh, there's an, you got another Porsche over there. Yeah. So that's a, um, that's a Rennsport.
14:26Um, so it's, uh, uh, what do they call it? A resto mod. Oh yeah. I've only just learned about
14:34these. Yeah. So it's, um, it's basically a nine 30 turbo that's been sent back for up-to-date
14:40running gear and seats and, and, um, so it's the same model as that. Same model as that. Yeah.
14:46And what are your thoughts on these Frankenstein? Well, that's what they are really. Aren't they?
14:51I mean, there is, there is an appeal for them. There's a, there's a following for them.
14:55Personally, if I'm going to buy a nine 30 turbo, I buy that one instead of this one.
15:01But if I wanted to buy a car and I wanted to use it daily and I wanted a modern feeling using car
15:06with the classic looks, then this doesn't compare. This is by far the better car. Yeah. The problem
15:12is I just like things original. Do you think this is maybe a bit of a phase in time? Well,
15:19there's been companies like Eagle. You've heard of an Eagle E type. So Eagle, um, make incredible
15:25cars where they take any type and they, they, uh, they, they put all up-to-date running gear in it
15:30and bigger engines and better gear boxes and USB ports and stuff. And you know, they, they,
15:35they fetch God, three quarters of a million pounds. Wow. And you can't get them. And the
15:41price of that, that's more expensive. That's 150,000. Yeah. Um, original miles and things.
15:47They don't do the engine. They do the lot. I'll do that. Yeah.
15:53So it's an, it's an older looking new car basically. Yeah.
15:56Yeah. It's cool. Yeah. Yeah.
16:07Do you? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But isn't that the sort of wheel you should have on it?
16:14The Porsche wheels, those wheels change the way the world turns. You know, they are just,
16:20that's one of the most iconic wheel on a car. Oh, I agree with you. Yeah.
16:26Well, I was, as a vibe, my, obviously.
16:31Is that, that's the latest turbo? That's the latest, but that's a little bit modified. So
16:35that is a, um, a Porsche 992 turbo S uh, tuned to 800 brake horsepower, uh, with a Brook racing
16:44exhaust, 22 inch Boston forged alloys. Right. Um, it's very, very different to your normal.
16:53It looks the part, doesn't it? Yeah. I believe I drove it. It doesn't need to be 800 brake horsepower.
16:58One of these cars. Cause they're incredibly fast. But fuck me. What car? What a car. Yeah. What's a
17:03car? Yeah. My business partner and I looking at getting one and these are good for daily. Are they
17:14easy? Yeah. I guess these must be going over this now. Are they? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean,
17:21there's two years wait on a turbo. Yeah. And what's the Aston? The Aston, um, is you ever
17:30watched a program called the persuaders? Yes. Um, so there was rumored to be two UK supplied Aston's
17:39delivered in that color. And I can see why there was only two because it's awful, isn't it? Um,
17:46but it's, it's the most famous color you can have for that model. It's a DBS. Right. Yeah. Um,
17:52it's the most famous that's the persuaders had one of those in that color, which was the sister
17:58car to that in the series. It was a famous, famous car. Yeah. And if you're going to have a DBS,
18:04everyone aspires to have the one that was in the persuaders. Yeah. But that one is originally that
18:09color and that was rumored to be only two. Right. And this one, the foot is that one is very
18:16special. Yeah. That's a Ferrari two 50 Pina Farina spider. Um, it's quite dusty actually.
18:26Um, this is a, this is a 1960. This is the big brother to the two 50 California spider. Right.
18:34These should be more money than they are for that reason. And this is 1.6 million. Yeah.
18:42But the California spider, which is it's younger brother, um, is eight to 10 million. Yeah. So
18:52they shouldn't be that big of a gap and they don't really look completely dissimilar.
18:56Well, thanks for showing us around. No pleasure. Um, can you do me a deal to take that today? I
19:01can. What, what are we going to do on that then? I would do you a deal on that today.
19:07Best deal you can do. I'll do it for 120. I'll take it today. There you go.
19:14Good podcast. What's the, is this the most you've been paid for a podcast?
19:20No, I don't think so. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
19:25no. Yeah. I've been looking for ages and I don't really know what I'm looking for.
19:30And you guys have been doing this 50 years. So I guess if there's any problems, you'll help me. And
19:36if I ever want to get rid of it and give it back to you, that's what we deal on. Yeah. We deal on
19:42that in particular. Well, thanks for doing me a good deal. Is it? Look, you asked me what the
19:47best deal was and I know you're a no nonsense guy. So rather than beat around the bush,
19:52all right, well, I'll give you some money downstairs then. Let's go. Yeah.
