More than 200 representatives of trade institutions, business associations, and enterprises from China and Serbia participated in the China-Serbia Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum in the Serbian capital Belgrade. CGTN’s Aljoša Milenković reports.

00:00Serbia was keen to show how much it valued the visit by Chinese business representatives.
00:06The country's president, Aleksandar Vučić, met with the heads of the delegation.
00:11At the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, it was an upbeat atmosphere as the two sides talked.
00:17They focused on strengthening communication and cutting red tape.
00:22We need to speed up the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement and make it even more effective.
00:29We need to speed up all initiatives and barriers to the agreement,
00:33but there are things we can do much faster.
00:37We have already increased the export of goods and services from Serbia to the Chinese market significantly,
00:45by more than 50%.
00:47They also discussed expanding cooperation in emerging areas such as scientific and technological innovation,
00:54in particular advanced manufacturing, green energy, digital economy and artificial intelligence.
01:01There was also an invitation for Serbian firms to join the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing later this year.
01:10For the Chinese delegation, there was one overriding reason to make the trip to Belgrade.
01:16We have matchmaking meetings and face-to-face talks with our counterparts
01:21to know more about the Serbian business environment as well as to seek more business opportunities,
01:30try to build a more resilient supply chain between the two sides.
01:34Business leaders also stressed the importance of this visit.
01:38There are 64 countries and regions in the world that have established branch institutions.
01:44Globalization is the most prominent feature of the Chinese bank and the advantage of the Chinese bank.
01:50We established Zihang in Seville in 2017 and have always been committed to supporting China-Serbia trade cooperation.
01:58China is the single biggest investor in Serbia, surpassed only by the European Union.
02:04Bilateral trade between China and Serbia surged in 2024, reaching 7.46 billion US dollars,
02:11up more than 22% from the previous year, and the country hopes this meeting will spur further investment.
