00:00Hello and welcome to the finale of our 6-day game of Hide-and-Seek across Japan.
00:06As a final reminder, in this game, the Hider is given 3 and a half hours to get to a hiding place,
00:11starting from where the previous Hider was found.
00:13Then it's up to the Seekers to find the Hider as quickly as possible by asking questions from the question menu.
00:19In exchange for truthful answers, the Hider gets to draw advantages from the Hider deck.
00:23After 5 days of gameplay, Ben sits in a commanding first place with a time of 13 hours and 9 minutes,
00:29with Adam in second at 11 hours, 21 minutes.
00:32Those won't be easy times to beat, but at the start of my run, something happened that could change everything.
00:38After Ben and Adam's first question, about what region I was in, I pulled the Move card,
00:42the single most powerful card in the deck, which allows me to spend one hour traveling to a new hiding spot at any point before the endgame.
00:50No other player has pulled this card so far, meaning no one has any experience dealing with its implications.
00:56So without further ado, the finale of Hide and Seek Across Japan.
01:04So I do have a Move card.
01:08And a Move card that's influential.
01:13I'm absolutely keeping this.
01:15That is a really valuable card.
01:17I mean, I remember when we were designing this game, we were like really going back and forth on whether we wanted to include it,
01:24just because of its potential power, you know?
01:28I can't play this once they're here, but if I see them coming towards here,
01:33I could really waste a lot of their time, I think, by going somewhere completely different.
01:39This, honestly, the more I think about it, the more I think that by the end of this day,
01:45this card could be the thing that wins me the game.
01:55Here's the deal.
01:58We need to find Sam today.
02:00Yeah.
02:01Or our goose, our geese, I should say.
02:04Yeah, they will be cooked.
02:06If Sam wins, then he will go into the lead in his all-time jet lag win record.
02:11Yes, and we cannot allow that to happen.
02:13If you win, then I think we're all tied, if you can believe it.
02:16Wouldn't that be so nice?
02:17Wouldn't that be pretty fun?
02:19Then I have what I would say is good news.
02:21He is not in the same region as us.
02:24Okay, great.
02:25I would say that this is quite good news and means that we should proceed on to Tokyo.
02:29Because this means that wherever he is, he went via Tokyo or the general Tokyo area.
02:35Yeah, I'm quite pleased.
02:37I'm feeling pleased.
02:39We cannot be fooled. We are foolproof.
02:41We are foolproof.
02:42One last look at, uh, where are we?
02:47So, here's the deal.
02:49I'm not going to lie.
02:50I don't love my hiding spot.
02:53I'll give Adam credit.
02:54He might not have had a winning run with his spot,
02:57but he at least really forced my hand with some tough geography.
03:01Basically, I had three options.
03:04I could have gone west, kind of back to Kofu,
03:07and then explored some of the rural lines around there.
03:10Although, to be honest, like, the profile of the kind of spot I would have hidden in
03:14would have been pretty similar to yesterday's, but with even fewer options.
03:18The other option was I could come to the near Shinkansen lines,
03:21get as geographically far as I can.
03:24And I really considered that.
03:25I looked at a lot of options.
03:27However, ultimately, I just wouldn't have had enough time to actually, like, transfer on to another line.
03:32So, pretty much, I would have had to hide on a Shinkansen stop.
03:36And I considered that.
03:37I mean, nobody's tried that.
03:38However, there were not that many Shinkansen stops you could even get to,
03:41and there were a lot of, like, unique features of each of them.
03:44So, that left me with the third option.
03:47Hiding in the biggest urban area in the entire world.
03:55You think he's in just, like, the Tokyo metro area?
03:58I mean, look, that was sort of, like, the little feeling I got this morning,
04:02is, like, if Sam wants to try a new strategy...
04:04It's true.
04:05...it could make sense to be, like, maybe just being in the densest possible place is the way to go.
04:10I think the unfortunate thing for him is we did a pretty good job of designing the game.
04:15In such a way that I don't think that the Tokyo metro area
04:19is actually overpowered in the way you might hope.
04:22No, in fact, we got to Japan early
04:25and tested to make sure that that exact thing was not overpowered.
04:29So, if he is in Tokyo, we know how to play that game.
04:34Yeah.
04:35You know, the more I think about this move card,
04:38the more I realize that I might have a bit of an OP card.
04:43I might have a bit of an OP combo here,
04:46because, you know, normally, from most locations that we've hidden so far,
04:53you know, you're on, like, one train line.
04:57And therefore, in 60 minutes,
05:00the number of options of train stations you can get to is not very many.
05:06But again, I'm in the biggest urban area in the entire world,
05:11and therefore, the number of train stations I can get to in 60 minutes,
05:15it's, I mean, well into the hundreds, I think.
05:19I got to tell you, Ben, I got some pretty gnarly blisters.
05:22Oh, yeah, my feet are f***ed up.
05:25I would say that if you are playing the home game,
05:28I would not necessarily recommend playing it for six days straight,
05:3211 to 12 hours a day.
05:34Yeah, I think just sort of have a chill, fun time with it instead.
05:38Yeah, like, I mean, you can play it for six days straight for 11 to 12 hours a day.
05:44I'm not going to stop you,
05:45but I would say that it is going to f*** your feet up a little bit.
05:48All right, we made it back to the station.
05:50Wee!
05:51We're going to make this train.
05:52Wee!
05:55And we're off to Tokyo.
05:57Wee!
05:59What do you think we want to do when we get to Tokyo?
06:01What do I think we want to do when we get to Tokyo?
06:04I want to go eat some ramen and have sushi.
06:12I think we got time for that.
06:14It could be nice.
06:15Oh.
06:17Oh, Ben.
06:18Yeah, even just like...
06:20Yeah, I know.
06:21Like, ten steps up.
06:23I think the thing once we get to Tokyo is just like...
06:26Hey, man, are you in Tokyo or not?
06:27Is he in Tokyo?
06:28Look at how narrow this house is.
06:31What do you put there?
06:34Looks like Ben and Adam have completed the long walk down to the station,
06:40and I have to imagine they're now going to take the train east towards, you know, Tokyo, towards here.
06:46I'm going to go explore my zone a bit.
06:49There's no point in looking for a hiding spot,
06:51since I think I'll move, you know, to a different area before they search.
06:57But, I mean, might as well keep my eye out just in case, I don't know,
07:01something, I don't know, what would change.
07:03I mean, I want to play this card.
07:19You're not in there.
07:21You're not in there.
07:23I think you have to go...
07:24It's a different place, Adam.
07:27It's not on there.
07:29Where is that?
07:30I don't even know where that is.
07:32Time to get on the train, Ben.
07:34Off to Tokyo.
07:44So when we get to Tokyo, I think...
07:46We hit him with a big radar.
07:48Radar. 25, 50.
07:51He thought we weren't going to go to Tokyo and hit you with a big radar.
07:54Wrong again.
08:00Looks like Ben and Adam are heading towards Tokyo,
08:03so they must be waiting to do, like, I don't know,
08:06some radar or region thing or something like that.
08:09For their second question, I guess they're playing conservatively.
08:14Little do they know, I might have already pulled the best card in the deck.
08:19So, you know, that's helpful.
08:22If he's in Tokyo, we've got the tools to defeat him handily.
08:28Handily.
08:30Okay.
08:31You thought we couldn't defeat Sam handily?
08:33Wrong again.
08:35They keep being wrong about stuff.
08:37They keep making so many wrong assumptions.
08:39I know.
08:40It's making them look pretty stupid.
08:42Yeah, well, that's what they get for underestimating us.
08:47Oh, God, I hope we finish this round in, like, three hours.
08:51It'd be awesome.
08:53Sort of an anticlimactic finale.
08:55Check these out.
08:57It's, like, it's carved, like, gourds, I guess.
09:03I mean, maybe they're weirdly shaped like pumpkins.
09:08Yeah.
09:09It's a Christmas pumpkin.
09:11Of course.
09:20Hello.
09:21Our train has been delayed for a while here.
09:24Yeah, we've been stopped for 10, maybe 15 minutes,
09:28which is unfortunate, because there's also not, like,
09:31there aren't really any other trains we can take out of here.
09:34But you know what?
09:35We don't need this time.
09:36It's fine.
09:37We're just having a relaxing morning.
09:39It doesn't even matter.
09:40It's not even going to matter anymore.
09:41And I'm not even worried.
09:43I'm not even worried.
09:44Are you worried?
09:45I'm not even worried.
09:46How could I even be worried?
09:48You couldn't, because there's nothing to be worried about.
09:55Okay, I've come to McDonald's.
09:57To be honest, mostly it's at Mary C.,
09:59but I'm going to try this,
10:03which apparently is, like, shrimp chicken nuggets.
10:08And I will give you my review.
10:24Mmm.
10:31Yeah.
10:40The door's just closed.
10:42Yeah.
10:43The door's just open.
10:44Hey, here we go.
10:45Here we go.
10:46Okay.
10:50Good stuff.
10:52We're on the move again.
10:54Hello.
10:55Now that we're getting sort of close to the center of Tokyo,
10:58we figure now might be a good time to start a thermometer.
11:02Will a thermometer kind of cut the area in half east-west-wise?
11:07Because we happen to be on a line
11:09that goes pretty much exactly west to east.
11:13And it's like, look, as well we're on it,
11:15might as well chop it.
11:16Because the thing is, like, there are so many lines.
11:19We're not going to be able to figure this out
11:21by being like, well, he could have gone this way.
11:23He could have gone, like,
11:24we're just going to have to chop the area up into smaller pieces.
11:29That's why they call us the chopping boys.
11:31They call us the chopping boys on account of how we love to chop.
11:42All right.
11:43Our thermometer has been played.
11:46We've played our wonderful thermometer.
11:49I think it's probably going to be hotter,
11:51but it'll be nice to have that good clean line.
11:54All right.
11:55We've entered the thermometer,
11:56and it will cut Tokyo kind of in two, which is not great.
12:00But honestly, if I saw this when I was the seeker,
12:04I might, you know, take the Shinkansen up to, like, Takasaki
12:08and check that area out.
12:10We've all been assuming
12:11that people will take the Shinkansen somewhere.
12:13And I think Takasaki is still in play.
12:17I definitely could have gotten there.
12:24That is really interesting news.
12:27This is a very limited area.
12:29One of the bigger chops we've seen.
12:31I would say the bigger the chop, the happier I am.
12:35Yeah, you love a big chop.
12:36Yeah.
12:37We're about to get into Shinjuku Station.
12:39Yeah, we should just get off.
12:40We're just, I think,
12:41Yeah, we'll just get off here.
12:48All right.
12:52Welcome to the busiest train station in the world.
12:56Shinjuku.
12:57All right, let's try to find somewhere
12:59to figure out what this means.
13:03Yeah.
13:05All right, let's pull our cards.
13:08One, two.
13:1110-minute bonus, discard one, draw two.
13:13Well, that's not awesome.
13:15I guess I'll keep the discard one, draw two.
13:18Might come in handy later.
13:20We'll see.
13:23This looks like food.
13:28Okay, hello.
13:30Because we've done such a good chop,
13:32we've decided to reward ourselves with some sushi.
13:38Okay, what the heck do we do next?
13:40How do we film by a little radar?
13:43I feel relatively good about a 50-mile radar.
13:46You want to hit it?
13:47Let's just do it.
13:48Okay.
13:49We're just going to keep chopping.
13:51Hopefully it's a hit.
13:52All right, they've asked for a 50-mile radar.
13:55That is for sure going to be a hit.
13:57It's going to more or less confirm from them
13:59that I'm in an urban area in or around Tokyo.
14:04They're not going to like that, honestly.
14:06I would not be pleased with seeking in the area I am now.
14:12If that's a hit, I'd say we're doing quite well.
14:15If it's a miss, I'd say our next move is going to matter a lot.
14:20I would agree with that.
14:22It's a hit.
14:24Okay, that's good.
14:26It makes our lives a lot simpler from here.
14:28There's a lot of weird possibilities
14:30that we don't have to worry about.
14:32What we need to do now is get a better map.
14:34Okay, we're going to go work on a little map,
14:38and then we're going to come back to you with some clues.
14:41We're going to work on a map.
14:46I don't have a good outro for this clip.
14:49Let's draw our next card.
14:51One, two.
14:53Oh, man.
14:55I just keep getting these.
14:57Here's what I'll do.
14:58I'll keep the discard one, draw two,
15:00and then use it as a discard
15:02with one of the other discard one, draw twos.
15:05And another two.
15:08Five-minute bonus, and Curse of the Bridge Troll.
15:11Curse of the Bridge Troll.
15:13The Seekers must ask their next question from under a bridge.
15:16Casting cost, the Seekers must be at least 50 miles from you.
15:20Curse of the Bridge Troll.
15:22Well, I guess they have to be 50 miles away.
15:24Could be better, to be honest.
15:26I mean, aside from, of course, the move card.
15:28That's clutch.
15:30You can't do any cool stuff here.
15:32That's true.
15:34They really don't want you to do anything cool.
15:37All right, Chopping Boys reporting back in.
15:40We've drawn this.
15:42This is the area that we're in,
15:43and I think there can be almost no doubt
15:45that we should do a 25-mile radar,
15:47which will basically tell us,
15:48hey, are you in all of this really dense
15:52Tokyo kind of greater metro area,
15:54or are you sort of more out in the woods?
15:57And then we get a tiny little semicircle,
16:01which is a nice good chop,
16:03or we get a little donut, which is a nice good chop.
16:05It's a sort of bizarre part of a donut.
16:08Yeah.
16:09And if we get that, then I'm not quite sure what we do,
16:12but I know that we'll figure it out together.
16:14Yay, Chopping Boys.
16:17All right, another question.
16:19It's a 25-mile radar.
16:21It is a hit.
16:23That's going to really tell them that I'm in Tokyo,
16:26but that's still quite a few options.
16:30One and two.
16:34These have got to be good, right?
16:36Come on.
16:38Oh, we got a randomize.
16:40Randomize is not bad.
16:42I'll keep the randomize for sure, yeah.
16:44No, the randomize will be good.
16:46Okay, yet another report from the Chopping Boys.
16:49We've got our answer.
16:50Ben, it's a hit.
16:52It's a hit, okay.
16:53Now, this is very interesting information.
16:56That means he's only 25 miles from us.
16:59I can smell him.
17:01I feel quite good about this.
17:03I know. No, I do too.
17:04We've been cutting with great aplomb.
17:07I would say we're getting close to tentacle territory.
17:10I mean, the trouble is this is 50 miles across,
17:14so I actually think we need to try to chop this guy again.
17:17My opinion is let's walk a half mile either north or south,
17:22ask if we're hotter or colder,
17:24and then we go to the center of whatever area we have left
17:27and we do a tentacles.
17:28That's what I have to say to you.
17:30All right, let's go south.
17:31All right, fine by me.
17:32Rev up that thermometer.
17:34Well, thermometers, which famously have to be revved up.
17:37Rev it up.
17:38This is sort of what thermometers are always doing.
17:40Or use a very old-fashioned one.
17:42Right, it requires engine.
17:44It's gas-powered.
17:45Oof.
17:47All right, they're starting a half-mile thermometer.
17:49This could be interesting.
17:51I wonder which slice they'll try to, you know, slice off.
17:56Beep, beep, beep.
17:58Thermometer.
18:00Beep, beep, beep.
18:02Thermometer.
18:04That's a cool song.
18:06How does the rest of it go?
18:07That's the whole song.
18:09Whoo!
18:11Whoo!
18:12Whoo!
18:13Whoo!
18:15Whoo!
18:17Yeah.
18:18All right, we're done.
18:20Okay, thermometer complete.
18:22Sam, are you north or are you south?
18:26I am north.
18:29They've gone south, so it's a colder.
18:33Do you think he's north or south?
18:35Well, actually, Ben, I know the answer,
18:37because he just texted us that he is north.
18:39Okay, well...
18:41I don't really have an opinion on that.
18:44I was going to be fine either way.
18:46Let's go back to Shinjuku Station,
18:48and then we'll head straight there.
18:50We go to the middle, you freaking tentacle his ass.
18:53And we're going to tentacle his ass.
18:55His ass is going to get tentacled.
18:57It's not good to say that.
18:58No. Oh, man.
19:00No, we shouldn't say that.
19:02No, we should not say that.
19:04Another card pull.
19:05One, two.
19:07Ten-minute bonus.
19:09Oh, we can make them strap some lemons on.
19:14Curse of the Lemon Phylactery.
19:16Before asking another question,
19:18the Seekers must each find a lemon
19:20and affix it to the outermost layer of their clothes or skin.
19:23Casting cost, discard a power-up.
19:26This is a fun one.
19:28I'd say we just hit it now.
19:30Could be fun.
19:31Let's figure it out.
19:32Ben, it's lemon time.
19:35Okay, let's go.
19:36When Sam gives you lemons, you tape them to your body.
19:39Yep, that's...
19:40That's the old saying.
19:44Here we go.
19:45This is what Sam and I used.
19:48Okay, grocery store.
19:50It's lemon time.
19:52Well, I see limes.
19:54Ah, wonderful.
19:56Whoa!
19:57Perfect.
19:58They designed that for if you're playing hide-and-seek 2.0
20:01with two Seekers.
20:04What?
20:05This is that thing I was telling you about.
20:07Oh.
20:08Lemons acquired.
20:10Once we're all lemoned up,
20:11as a reward, you can have our ice cream stick.
20:13Yay!
20:15I'm going to try to do this not too tightly.
20:19I...
20:21don't think that lemons are going to help.
20:23All right, lemons attached.
20:24We're about to head to the middle of the region
20:27Sam could be undetectable, as asked.
20:29But really quickly,
20:30we have to make a stop in the snack zone.
20:33Snack zone!
20:48This is one of the greatest inventions
20:50in the history of mankind.
20:52♪♪♪♪
21:00And I'd like to submit my theory right now.
21:02Mm-hmm.
21:03It's a cowboy.
21:05Mm-hmm.
21:06Cowboy is called Little Ego
21:08because it has a lot of really cool, you know, architecture.
21:12I think that my theory is.
21:14Mm. Mm-hmm.
21:16All right, I've had enough sitting around.
21:18I'm going to just look around a bit.
21:20See what I can find.
21:22Okay, now I found some cool stuff.
21:24Unfortunately, literally this street is the limit of my zone.
21:29But look how cool the shops are.
21:32This is apparently what this town is known for.
21:35Apparently, it was like a wealthy spot
21:37back in the Edo period or whatever.
21:40Oh, man, that looks so cool.
21:42That looks so cool.
21:45Oh!
21:50Ooh!
21:52♪♪♪♪♪
22:11All right, looks like they finally left Shinjuku
22:15and are headed north towards me.
22:18But they don't have enough info yet
22:21to know it's here, right?
22:23Yeah.
22:25Yeah, no.
22:26I mean, the main thing I need to do,
22:28considering I have that, uh, that great card,
22:31is not f*** it up
22:33and make sure I actually leave here before they get here.
22:37So I do have to pay good attention to the tracker.
22:40♪♪♪♪♪♪
22:46All right, Ben.
22:48It's the Seibu...
22:50It's the Seibu Shinjuku Line Limited
22:54on Platform 3.
22:58It really is stairs.
22:59The stairs are the killer.
23:01Not good.
23:02Oh.
23:14Hello.
23:15Hello.
23:16We are almost to the center of the remaining map.
23:19I think we hit the zoo tentacles.
23:21Yeah, we were looking.
23:23There's a lot of zoos around here.
23:25All right, I'm going to send them.
23:27Yeah, I think if we've done our work right,
23:30then, uh, then this will tell us where he is.
23:34Okay, we're pulling into Torokozawa.
23:39What time does this train leave, Ben?
23:41We need to get off.
23:42It's going to leave before we get in.
23:43I think we need to get off.
23:44We can lay it off the train,
23:45and we can hop back on if we need to.
23:47Okay, okay.
23:48If this hits and the zoo is north,
23:52we want to get right back on this train.
23:54Yeah.
23:55We need an answer.
23:56We need an answer.
23:58I have acquired, uh,
24:02something like a...terminal.
24:04I don't know.
24:05It looked good.
24:07Hmm.
24:09Yeah.
24:15Okay, bad news.
24:18I've been tentacled.
24:19I am within 15 miles,
24:21and one of the zoos is rather close to me,
24:25so that's going to narrow things down
24:27quite a lot quite quickly.
24:30So I'm near one of the train stations.
24:33I think I'm actually going to go to the other train station
24:37because I think that one is higher frequency
24:40in case I need to quickly use my move card.
24:43Yeah.
24:44This train's going to leave it.
24:46Oh.
24:48Okay.
24:50Oh, we did get an answer.
24:52Oh, it is a hit.
24:53Okay, it's a hit.
24:55It's...
24:57Okay, well, we should have stayed on the train.
25:00It's fine. It's fine.
25:01There's another one in a few minutes.
25:03Okay, this zoo is up.
25:05It's up by Kawagoe.
25:07It's up by Kawagoe, like I said.
25:09I think you might have called it.
25:11I think you might have called it.
25:13Might have called it.
25:14Might have called it.
25:16This train is going now.
25:17Might have called it.
25:20I almost forgot to do my card pull.
25:22It's a beefy one.
25:24I get to pull four, pick two.
25:27One, two, three, four.
25:30Oh, five minutes, ten minutes.
25:33Zoologist?
25:36Curse of the zoologist.
25:38Curse of a wild fish, bird, mammal, reptile, amphibian, or bug.
25:42The Seekers must take a picture of a wild animal in the same category before asking another question.
25:49Urban explorer.
25:51Curse of the urban explorer.
25:53For the rest of your run, Seekers cannot ask questions when they are on transport or in a transit station.
25:59Casting cost, discard two cards.
26:03I think I'll keep the two curses.
26:05I'll play the urban explorer while discarding the zoologist and the five minute bonus.
26:10That'll slow them down for sure.
26:13We're getting on this train.
26:16We have just been hit with a curse.
26:18Okay.
26:19For the rest of your run, Seekers cannot ask questions when they are on transit or in a transit station.
26:24That's not a great curse for him to pull now.
26:26No.
26:27Would have been good for him to pull earlier.
26:29And he had to discard two cards to relay that to.
26:32Yeah.
26:33I think he knows he's in trouble.
26:35So I guess I was going to just say we should ask for a photo, but let's just go there.
26:41Let's just go there and then we'll figure it out from there.
26:49All right.
26:50They're definitely on a train that terminates here.
26:53They don't get off in the next couple of minutes.
26:56I'm going to have to play this card.
27:00I don't have an option, I think, because I cannot risk playing it too late once they've gotten within my zone,
27:07because then it's invalid.
27:09So probably in about the next five minutes I need to decide whether I'm playing it.
27:13I guess we'll see how it goes.
27:16I may have called it.
27:18I feel like I may have kind of called it.
27:20I would say that at the very least we're close enough now that it would be fair to say you called it.
27:25Whee!
27:26I love having called it.
27:27Well done.
27:29I think we've got them.
27:30I think we've got them.
27:38All right, time to go.
27:40They passed it.
27:41We've got to go.
27:44Move.
27:45Discard your hand and send the Seekers to the location of your transit station.
27:49This card grants the player 60 minutes to establish a new hiding zone somewhere else on the game map.
27:55The Seekers are frozen and your hiding timer is paused until this new hiding period has concluded.
28:00This card cannot be played during the endgame.
28:04Oh boy, I'm glad I had this card.
28:17All right, welcome to Kawagoe.
28:21So we need to leave the station to ask a question.
28:23I think what we do is leave here and ask for tallest building,
28:26because I also think there's a good chance this is where he is,
28:29and then he will say he can't answer and that will confirm where he is.
28:32Right, right, right.
28:33Where is the exit?
28:35This seems to be a mall.
28:37Okay, interesting.
28:43Adam, Adam.
28:44Yeah, yeah.
28:46What?
28:48I, uh...
28:51Ben, what?
28:54No.
28:56Mm-hmm.
28:57He pulled the one move.
28:59No.
29:00He pulled the one move.
29:01No, he didn't.
29:02Okay, wait, wait, wait.
29:03Okay.
29:04Wait, wait, wait, wait.
29:05So that means...
29:06He's on the move.
29:07I don't know where I'm going.
29:08I'm just kind of vibing it out at this point.
29:11We'll see where I get off.
29:12I'll just do it on feel, I guess.
29:16Oh, Jesus.
29:17Okay.
29:18This is sort of the only thing that could have gone wrong.
29:21We have to figure out where he could be going right now.
29:26Wait, wait, wait.
29:27He has to send us what his station...
29:29It was this station.
29:30Okay.
29:31This was his station.
29:32Okay, okay, okay, okay.
29:33Okay, we are stuck for an hour while he moves.
29:36This hour does not count towards his time.
29:39F***.
29:40F***.
29:41We...
29:42We found him.
29:43I know.
29:44He was here.
29:45We got him.
29:46This was going to be the fastest catch of the game.
29:49Okay, let's go sit down.
29:51Let's go sit down.
29:52Okay, we need to start researching how far he can get in an hour.
29:55Starting at 2 p.m.
29:57Yeah.
29:58I don't think he could have gotten that far.
29:59No, that's true.
30:00Well, I mean, he could have gotten.
30:02He's moving right now.
30:03Okay, okay.
30:05So we also...
30:06Here's the other question we have to ask ourselves.
30:07What's the most annoying possible line he could get on?
30:09Because that's the one he'll try to get on.
30:11You know what I mean?
30:14Yeah.
30:21No.
30:29We have time.
30:30We have time.
30:31It's going to be okay.
30:32We're going to get it sorted out.
30:34Son of a b****.
30:35We had him.
30:37We literally had him.
30:39That's crazy.
30:42It's crazy how much we had him.
30:48Okay, I think we're going to go for the next stop.
30:51I don't know.
30:53Just cause.
30:59Okay, I am here.
31:04To be honest, I didn't really, like, go anywhere with purpose.
31:09I just got on the first train I saw and got off on a random stop.
31:14Because, like, chaos theory, right?
31:16If I don't know where I'm going, how will they know where I'm going?
31:19The trouble is, we've already used a lot of our good questions.
31:21We've used our half-mile thermometer.
31:23What if we asked about his proximity to a major airport?
31:27Yeah.
31:28That would tell us, did he go up or did he go down?
31:31Right, because all of those airports, like Haneda and Narita, are pretty just clearly that way.
31:38Yeah.
31:39All right, it's 2.59.
31:40Right when it hits three, we're going to ask our question.
31:43Ten seconds.
31:44All right.
31:45Cut.
31:46Let's go.
31:49Are you closer to or further from your nearest major airport?
31:53They're asking, basically, am I further from my closest major airport?
31:58So that should give them some direction.
31:59Let me check.
32:00I don't actually know.
32:01Sam, we are not going to let this give you the win.
32:04He's closer.
32:05Okay, that means he went in.
32:07Okay.
32:08Okay.
32:09Now I'm going to ask if he's closer to or further from a major city center.
32:12But we can't do that in here.
32:14Right, right.
32:15Okay, let's get out of here.
32:16Okay.
32:17Where is the exit?
32:18I literally don't know.
32:19It's got to be through this stupid mall, right?
32:21Okay, let's go through this stupid mall.
32:23Three cards.
32:24One.
32:26Curse of the Mediocre Travel Agent.
32:28Choose any publicly accessible place within a half mile of the seeker's current location.
32:32They must go there, spend at least ten minutes there, and acquire a souvenir before asking another question.
32:38Casting cost, their vacation destination must be further from you than their current location.
32:44Two.
32:45Two.
32:47Curse of the Jammed Door.
32:49For the next three hours, the seekers must roll dice to pass through a doorway.
32:53Casting cost, discard a card.
32:56Three.
32:58Curse of the Drained Brain.
33:00Choose three questions in different categories.
33:03The seekers cannot ask those questions for the rest of your run.
33:06Casting cost, discard your hand.
33:09Those are good ones.
33:11I think I gotta keep the Jammed Door one, right?
33:13The problem is I can't play it yet because I don't have another card I could discard with it.
33:17Okay, now that we are out of the station again, we're asking if he is closer to or further from a major city.
33:23Hopefully he's closer, because then that gives us small areas that we can deal with.
33:28Oh my god, oh sweet.
33:30I know.
33:31I would have had him by now.
33:32I know, I know, I know.
33:34Okay, already hit me with another one.
33:36Am I closer or further from a nearest major city?
33:39Another card pull.
33:40And one, two, three.
33:44Veto is pretty valuable.
33:46I'm gonna keep Veto, yeah, for sure.
33:49He's closer, that's good.
33:50That's good.
33:51That's really good.
33:52Okay.
33:53So the Tokyo area is weird.
33:54It has like four things that qualify as cities.
33:57Tokyo, Kawasaki, Yokohama, and Saitama.
34:01The good news is that Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kawasaki are all sort of clumped together.
34:06Saitama is sort of up by itself.
34:07So what I think we should do is sort of go roughly to the center of Saitama and tentacle there.
34:11And if it's a miss, then we know he's in the sort of big super group down by Yokohama, Kawasaki, and Tokyo.
34:19All right, gonna explore my new zone.
34:21Let's see what we got.
34:22It's nice.
34:23It's quieter than where I was.
34:25Okay, we got some park action up in here.
34:27Let's check out the park.
34:29Got a little lake.
34:32It's very peaceful in here.
34:35Almost done.
34:36I'm gonna get some ice cream.
34:38Oh, legs.
34:40Oh, f**k.
34:43Damn you.
34:44You okay?
34:45Yes.
34:50We're getting on this.
34:51We're going to Omiya so that we can check the first bubble around Saitama.
35:05Oh, the stairs.
35:07Yeah, the stairs.
35:09This was all part of his plan.
35:14All right, Ben.
35:15I'm ready to send it the second we step out.
35:17All right.
35:18All right, hit him.
35:20And boom.
35:22Amusement park tentacles.
35:29All right, we've been tentacled.
35:31All right, we've been tentacled.
35:34Draw four, pick two.
35:36One, two, three, four.
35:40Okay.
35:41I guess I'll just keep the 15 and 20 minute bonuses.
35:44Those are not bad.
35:45Not the greatest pull.
35:46That's all right.
35:47Ben, it's a hit.
35:48It's a hit?
35:49Okay, okay.
35:50Good stuff, man.
35:51Okay.
35:52He's closest to the one near us.
35:54That's good.
35:55That's good to know.
35:56Okay.
35:57Just give me a sec here.
35:58Yeah.
35:59So this is a pretty limited area,
36:01but not as limited as I would have quite liked.
36:04No.
36:05We need to find a way to cut this down more.
36:07I'm wondering if there's anything else we can ask.
36:09Distance from coastline.
36:10I guess that would just pretty directly tell us
36:12if he was south.
36:13Cut us in half.
36:14I like that.
36:15Distance from coastline.
36:16Yeah.
36:17New question.
36:18Distance to coastline.
36:19One, two, three.
36:22Veto 10 minute bonus, curse of the census taker.
36:26Curse of the census taker.
36:28The seekers must immediately visit a town or city hall
36:31within a mile of their current location.
36:33When there, they must estimate the population
36:35under that town hall's jurisdiction
36:37and get the answer correct within 25%.
36:40Otherwise, you are awarded an extra 30 minutes.
36:43Casting cost?
36:44The seeker's next question is free.
36:46As far as I can tell, I can't see a city hall
36:50in their station,
36:51so I think I'm just gonna take the 10 minute bonus
36:53because I already have another veto.
36:54Closer.
36:55Okay.
36:56Sam's closer to the coast.
36:57So that cuts off, I think, more lines.
37:00He's gotta be somewhere in here.
37:02Yeah.
37:03That's not a very big area.
37:04You want a picture of the tallest thing you can see
37:06and get on a train south?
37:07I think that we want to be able to start working on that
37:10because I also think there's a good chance
37:11that as we go, we might be able to just pick it up.
37:15Okay.
37:16And we're gonna want those pictures before the sun sets.
37:18All right.
37:20We got it, buddy.
37:21All right, gotta go back to the station.
37:23They're asking for a photo of the tallest thing.
37:25I would not be surprised
37:26if they're just gonna try to ride the line
37:28and see if they spot it.
37:31Ah, this isn't looking good.
37:32There's a pretty, pretty unique-looking building
37:36that looks like it might be the tallest.
37:39Adam, I think this is the mascot of Omiya or something.
37:43Whoa!
37:50Did you get it on camera?
37:51Oh, yeah.
37:52That's awesome.
37:54We get on the JK line.
37:56All right.
37:57There's nothing JK about this, though.
37:59We ain't kidding around.
38:02Boy, just to tell you how fried my brain is,
38:05I went to check the time
38:06to see when this train was gonna be here,
38:08and I checked my limit.
38:12Yeah, this is not looking good.
38:15They're definitely gonna be able to identify that
38:17from the train.
38:19Okay, well, here's the station exit.
38:22That building is definitely the tallest.
38:25So we're gonna all send that along.
38:30All right, let's go.
38:34So we're gonna all send that along.
38:39All right, let's go.
38:41It's pretty distinct.
38:43Well, we'll watch for it,
38:44see if maybe we can match it.
38:49Okay.
38:50Wait, no, I don't think so.
38:54No, no.
38:58No, I don't think it could be any of these.
39:01Oh, wait, no.
39:02No, but that looks similar again.
39:04It's something like that.
39:06You know what I mean?
39:07Yeah.
39:09Wait, wait, wait.
39:10What's that?
39:14You see that?
39:18No, that's not it.
39:20Minor update.
39:21They took the wrong line.
39:23It's gonna be a little bit longer.
39:32No.
39:33It's close though.
39:34Yeah, it's somewhere.
39:35Okay, let's get off.
39:39Let's get the hell out of here.
39:42All right.
39:44I think a distance from nearest Shinkansen is good.
39:48I think it clears that line
39:51in a way that is pretty convenient.
39:53Yeah, I think so.
39:54Okay.
39:55Another question.
39:56Am I closer or further to a Shinkansen?
39:58I am basically right on top of the Shinkansen line.
40:02It goes right through my station,
40:03so I'm definitely closer.
40:05Sam is closer.
40:07Closer.
40:09Okay.
40:10Okay, so that means he's like basically
40:11right off the Shinkansen line.
40:13Yeah.
40:14Now we've got it down to really just a couple stations.
40:17Yeah.
40:18So it's one of these.
40:19The train is five minutes to Musashi.
40:22Yeah, let's get on it.
40:23Here we go.
40:31I'll say it's starting to get a little bit late.
40:34The sun is going down.
40:36I think we're still okay,
40:41but I am starting to get...
40:44We only have about 45 minutes before the sun sets.
40:48Yeah, and also doing it in a desk
40:52is such a sick area.
40:53It's going to be really...
40:55Yeah, like there are way more streets.
40:57Yeah.
41:01Like the thing that Jets Metro areas are best at
41:05is the end game.
41:06Yeah.
41:07Another three card pulls.
41:09Two, three.
41:11Curse of the Bird Guide.
41:13Curse of the Bird Guide.
41:15You have one chance to film a bird for as long as possible,
41:18up to 15 minutes straight.
41:20If at any point the bird leaves the frame,
41:23your timer is stopped.
41:24The seekers must then film a bird
41:26for the same amount of time or longer
41:28before asking another question.
41:3015-minute bonus, discard two, draw three.
41:35You know, I think I'll take the discard two, draw three,
41:37and see if I can optimize my time bonuses at this point.
41:42All right, one, two, three.
41:4410-minute bonus, 10-minute bonus, 15 minutes.
41:46Wow, that worked out well.
41:47All right, so I have 15, 25, 35, 50, 70, 80.
41:5480 minutes of time bonuses, not bad.
41:56Let's go.
42:17Yeah, I don't think that it's here.
42:21Train in five minutes to Nishiurawa.
42:23You want to just go?
42:25Let's just keep riding the line and checking
42:28before we ask any more questions.
42:47Adam, I think I see it.
42:48You think you see it?
42:49I think I might have...
42:50Where?
42:51Over there.
42:52I can't quite see it.
42:53I can't quite see it anymore.
42:54That would mean that it would be not on this...
42:56That's got to be it.
42:57That's got to be it.
43:00Yeah, I saw it too.
43:01Over there.
43:02So we're going to need to go up one station.
43:04It's got to be right there.
43:06Right there.
43:07I think that's it, yeah.
43:09Okay, so we'll connect up.
43:11Do you know where that is?
43:12Yeah, yeah, I do.
43:14It's Naka-Urawa.
43:18Excuse me.
43:20Okay, so we need to go back.
43:23Yeah, this is us.
43:25Sam, I think we might just finally, finally have you.
43:34Yeah, that's for sure.
43:36Yeah, yeah.
43:38Yeah, that's it.
43:39All right, this is us off here,
43:41and then connect up one stop.
43:43Let's kick it.
43:45Here, here.
43:46It's over here.
43:51That's it.
43:54We've got to get out of the station
43:55before we can ask a question.
43:57Final endgame of the game.
43:59Let's hope we can make it a quick one.
44:04Okay, what do you think?
44:05Do you want to do a one-mile tentacle?
44:07Yeah, what do you think?
44:08What do you think?
44:09What do you think?
44:10What do you think?
44:11What do you think?
44:12A tentacle?
44:13Yeah, what kind of tentacle?
44:15Here, you take this.
44:16I'll figure it out.
44:17Hospital's going to give us the best directionality.
44:21Four.
44:23Is it worth the cards?
44:27In my opinion, yeah.
44:29Okay.
44:30God, I wish I hadn't lost my glasses.
44:32Do you—
44:33Because you kind of have a similar description as me.
44:35Yeah, yeah.
44:36I have my sunglasses.
44:37Plus, you look so cool.
44:39Show the audience how cool you look.
44:41You look like a bug.
44:43He's responded.
44:45Hayashi.
44:47Okay, so we want to head up—
44:49Wait, really quickly.
44:50Ask for a photo of the tallest thing you can see
44:51before you can curse us, just in case.
44:55Okay.
44:56We've sent tallest thing you can see
44:57and he didn't curse us,
44:58so this should be enough to find him.
44:59All right.
45:00Let's start heading towards that hospital.
45:02Okay.
45:03There's a park, Ben.
45:05Maybe we should start by checking the park.
45:08Okay, start heading towards the park.
45:10Sam, are you in the park?
45:12Please just be in the park.
45:14I'm only going to put these on
45:15when I need to be, like, searching closely.
45:17Because while they do make me see better,
45:19they also make things darker.
45:21Yeah.
45:25It's some random f***ing building,
45:27so it doesn't seem like he's in the park.
45:29Okay.
45:30I mean, this building is just, like, a house.
45:32Yeah.
45:34It's quite generic.
45:36But also, if that's the tallest thing he can see,
45:38that actually does narrow things down a bit.
45:41I guess, yeah.
45:42Because it's like, from here I can see that.
45:44That's taller.
45:45Right.
45:46So he can't be anywhere that you can see that.
45:49Can't be anywhere you can see that.
45:52I think with tallest thing street...
45:54Is that it?
45:57Is that the tallest building?
45:58It does look a lot like the right house.
46:01It might not quite be right.
46:04But it looks really similar, doesn't it?
46:06It does.
46:10I just scared a man.
46:11That was a normal man.
46:13That was a normal...
46:14I just scared a poor man.
46:15Normal man.
46:17Not Sam.
46:18Sam's not a normal man.
46:22No.
46:24I don't think it is this.
46:26But almost.
46:28I don't think it is this.
46:30But almost.
46:31It's very similar.
46:33But I suppose it makes sense that
46:35there are several houses that have that kind of look out here.
46:40Should we ask something else?
46:41We still don't have a...
46:42Yeah, yeah.
46:44Photo of you?
46:45Yeah, photo of him.
46:46Get a photo of him.
46:47Does not seem like we should be walking here.
46:50No.
46:53It's not that, is it?
46:56The back of that house?
46:57I don't think so.
46:59Again, it's a similar building.
47:01It's very similar.
47:06He's under something.
47:10It's under a bridge.
47:12Okay, we should be able to find that.
47:14Under what bridge can you see a house?
47:17Well, there's a bridge over there.
47:19Oh?
47:21No, it's not this bridge.
47:23Not this bridge.
47:25I hate end games in dense areas.
47:27Yeah, there's a lot to look at.
47:30What is he under?
47:36Let's...
47:38Let's go this way and then turn left.
47:41I think it'd be close for it to count,
47:43but there's definitely a bridge there by the station.
47:46Let's look at the bridges near...
47:48Let's go to the river.
47:49There are definitely bridges on the river.
47:51And where there are bridges, there may be sand.
47:54Okay.
47:55There's actually a smaller river that I think might be a better fit.
47:59Just one street over.
48:00Right.
48:02We just need to cross.
48:13I think we're almost here.
48:22Oh, yeah, look at this.
48:24Look at this little river.
48:26Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
48:28Sam, are you on the river?
48:29Let's walk alongside this river, maybe.
48:31Sam.
48:33But none of the houses match.
48:38But I think it's worth a shot.
48:40I certainly think it could be this river.
48:46It's like...
48:48It's like he would barely even...
48:51He would really barely be hit by...
48:53I don't know, but I guess he would be.
48:56Oh, there he is!
48:58Hi.
49:00Wait, turn the flash on.
49:01You can't see him.
49:03There he is.
49:05Hi.
49:17Hi, Sam.
49:19How are we doing?
49:20That was really annoying when you moved.
49:23Yeah?
49:24Man.
49:26All right, fellas.
49:27I think that it's time for us to go back to Tokyo Station.
49:30Yeah.
49:31There's something very important that's up.
49:32We've taken so many trains, this time I think we should do the telephone.
49:36Are you ready?
49:37That was an option the whole time?
49:38One, two, three.
49:40Whoa.
49:41Whoa, we're back at Tokyo Station.
49:43We made it back safe and sound.
49:45Ben, as the person with the longest hiding time of 13 hours and 9 minutes, I think.
49:54Pretty long.
49:56We can now congratulate you on being the winner of Jet Lag Season 12!
50:02Woo!
50:14I'm so excited.
50:16I think that this means that we are all tied for wins.
50:19That is true.
50:20I think we're all tied at five.
50:23This really raises the stakes for next season.
50:25It's true, it does.
50:27Ben, I did have a feeling this would happen because I believe in you so much.
50:31When Adam and I were on the run earlier, we saw it was actually a crazy coincidence.
50:37They had a machine that said Jet Lag Season 12 trophy.
50:43That's true, we can catch that footage.
50:44Yeah, I mean, I'm not making this up.
50:56Perfect.
50:58Whoa, they really have everything in this country.
51:01They really do.
51:02It's amazing.
51:03Whoa, this is amazing.
51:05Open it up!
51:06Whoa!
51:09How did they fit that in there?
51:11Apparently, that's only 500 yen.
51:13Yeah, the yen is really weak right now.
51:16It is not doing well.
51:18Oh my god, that is a lot of metal.
51:20So Ben, it's been six days.
51:23You've been on so many trains.
51:25That's true.
51:26You've had a really long plane ride before.
51:28And I guess we both want to know, how are you feeling?
51:34I mean, I don't know.
51:36I'm feeling pretty good.
51:38I guess there's this one thing.
51:40Listen.
51:41I'm feeling pretty Jet Lag!
51:48Hope you enjoy playing Hide and Seek.
51:51If you want, I guess.
51:52And we'll see you in Season 13!
51:57Man, we're making a lot of seasons.
52:00Oh my god.
52:01Okay, bye.
52:07This is...
52:08Here, you go stand...
52:16Ah, that's actually not so bad.
52:18Come closer.
52:21Yeah, like there.
52:24Thank you so much for watching this entire season of Jet Lag! Hide and Seek.
52:28We really appreciate it.
52:30And we have something very special to yap about.
52:34I would say so.
52:35We are really excited about this.
52:37We've talked about this throughout the season,
52:39but we have taken our Hide and Seek format
52:42and we have adapted it so that it can be played theoretically anywhere in the world.
52:47Wherever you live, you can get our Hide and Seek game
52:50and you can organize a game with your friends
52:52and you can play Hide and Seek.
52:53And Ben, tell them about all the stuff that is in the box.
52:57Ten minute bonus.
52:58That's true, but there's more than just that.
53:00We don't have time to go through all the cards.
53:01Okay, you get the deck, you get some dice,
53:04you get a cool question sheet where you can see all the questions,
53:07you report all the answers like you're doing a little investigation.
53:11You get a big old rule book that goes through every possible little detail.
53:16There's a lot of stuff in there.
53:19I really can't emphasize how much work we put into this.
53:21Yeah, and I feel like you might think that we just, I don't know,
53:25put the jet lag game on something that other people...
53:27No, literally, we wrote and we went into Google Docs,
53:31we wrote words and we edited those words
53:35and we put it in a rules thing and we play tested it.
53:38And this is truly homegrown, homemade.
53:42And we have not ever done this before,
53:45despite a lot of people asking,
53:46because we didn't think we had a good enough game until now.
53:49Yeah, this was the first game where we finally felt like it could be played anywhere.
53:53It was not super easy to make that possible,
53:57but I think that we did do it.
53:58It comes in three versions.
53:59You can play the big scale, like countrywide version,
54:02like the version that we play on the show.
54:04You can play the medium scale version.
54:06That's what you would play in like a major city,
54:08like New York City or like Paris or like in a more of like a regional area.
54:12And then we have like a smaller version for you to play in a smaller area.
54:16I think it will be fun.
54:18And here's what I'll say.
54:19I want to see videos of people playing.
54:21Oh yeah, that'd be fun.
54:22Yeah, like literally make your own jet lag using the game
54:26and make a whole video of it and I will totally watch it.
54:29And I'm really excited to see like what this,
54:31what Hide and Seek looks like in all these different places all over the world.
54:34And I'm sure that like you guys will be able to share with each other,
54:37like here's what my map for Philadelphia looks like or Paris or the entirety of Europe.
54:44Like I'm sure that we'll see some really cool stuff and I'm just so excited.
54:47It feels like a new chapter in the Jet Lag the Game universe.
54:54Yeah.
54:55Anyway, that's your off-season activity this time.
54:59It's in the Nebula story.
55:00Go to this link here.
55:03And yeah, I would...
55:07You check it out?
55:08I really just like think that we really tried hard to make this something worth buying.
55:15Like we put off selling a game just by people asking us to for many years
55:20until we felt like we could do it in a way where it would be something really good
55:24that we could stand behind.
55:25And I feel like we did that.
55:26And so I really, I hope that people check it out.
55:28We could have shaken you suckers out for cash a long time ago.
55:32Yeah.
55:33But we didn't do it.
55:34Anyway, go check it out.
55:35And thank you for you.
55:37Yeah, thank you.
55:38And thanks for watching the season too.
55:39Yeah.
55:40And that's it.
55:41Yeah, we'll see you next time.
55:43Bye.
55:45Bye.
55:46Bye.
