My neighbor had seen my pc in the window and asked if I knew how to fix them. Glad I was able to help this dude get back to gaming and hanging with friends. Love that I can help people with the platform all of you guys gave me. Couldn’t ask for a better job #pcrepair #pcrepairs #pcfix #laptoprepair #computerrepair #gamingpc #pctips #pcgamingsetup

00:00Fixing a neighbor's PC. This is actually a first for me, but somebody saw my PC in the window
00:04and they asked me if I knew anything about computers. Theirs is not working, so we're just gonna go ahead and
00:10see what the problem is. He says it turns on, but he has issues with any display.
00:14He said it's a newer graphics card, which looks like to be a 3060 from EVGA.
00:18So we're just gonna plug an HDMI to that monitor right there.
00:21So hopefully it's picking up in the video, but this HDMI port is completely toasted.
00:26You can even see it's chipped in the inside.
00:28So we're gonna attempt to hopefully check out these display ports, and hopefully that's the only problem.
00:33Let's power this guy on and see if that was the issue. Is it just bad HDMI port? Because it looks pretty rough.
00:39I hope you guys can see that, but I think I found at least one of the problems. That PCIe doesn't look to be all
00:44the way in. So we're just gonna make sure that this is, yep, that was definitely not all the way in.
00:48Alright, attempt number two. We're turning on the PC.
00:52So far, nothing. Since we're not getting any response out of this GPU,
00:55it does seem like it's booting. Everything else is working.
00:58So we're just gonna swap this guy out and see if that's the issue right off the bat.
01:01I'm just gonna reinstall this, use the other PCIe cable, and see if that does anything.
01:05All right, we've changed out that cable and we reinstalled. Let's see if we get anything going.
01:10I am not liking the way this is going. So now we've installed a known working GPU, which sadly,
01:17I hope it doesn't work, because that means something else is the problem, and his graphics card is not bad.
01:21So so far, it looks like the motherboard might have gone bad.
01:24I'm not sure, mainly with the PCIe lanes,
01:27but you can have some pins that are broken and that'll cause those lanes to be, you know, messed with.
01:32So we're gonna drop this down one and then also we're gonna swap out the RAM just in case.
01:36So as you can see, the computer is running, but we have no RGB on this RAM.
01:39It is not getting the proper power.
01:41That means we are having some issues off with the motherboard or there's pins or something going on with the CPU.
01:46This is a different DIMM and we're having the exact same issue.
01:49I'm leaning towards motherboard or we have some issues with that CPU.
01:52So at this point we're gonna actually
01:54swap this out with a known working CPU and see if we get any power to that.
01:58And if it's not that, it's a bad motherboard.
02:00So we're gonna check out this and see if we have any bent pins, any issues, swap it out and then test.
02:05You might be wondering why I'm running this without a heatsink.
02:08Well, I was testing it and this guy is ice cold.
02:12Now we know the motherboard is 100% dead and we will just have to do a motherboard swap.
02:17So we have a bad motherboard. We're gonna swap it out without him knowing because I know he can't afford it.
02:22He's just a kid and we're gonna do this as a surprise.
02:25It's nothing fancy, but it's the only board that I have that's not spoken for currently.
02:29So we're gonna go ahead and put this in there.
02:31We're gonna take the SSD out, take all of this stuff and then swap in the new board.
02:35Right now we're just installing the cooler. So we're just gonna hook on this bracket right here.
02:40We put in the new motherboard and we're just screwing it in.
02:42We're gonna slap this guy back together so he can get back to gaming.
02:45We're gonna have to reroute the 3.0 because it's down here as opposed to over here on this board.
02:48So we're gonna have to cut this zip tie. I cannot tell you how careful you need to be. Do not cut a fan cable.
02:54Let's go ahead and wire this guy up. Power LEDs. So here's the actual test just to see if
02:59we get any signal with this GPU and we're using
03:02HDMI right now because I want to see if that's the issue. As you can see with that setup we have boot boys.
03:06I just texted him to let him know his computer is completely fixed and we're doing it completely free.
03:11He's a little camera shy, but it doesn't matter. If you can help somebody and you can afford to, always help somebody.
03:16It'll come back tenfold.
