00:00So, Newcastle United are Carabao Cup champions. Now, I am certainly not bored of saying that
00:06and I know for a fact that a lot of you people at home won't be bored of hearing it. So let
00:10me say it again, Newcastle United are Carabao Cup champions. Sunday was a fantastic day
00:15for the club, for the players, for the staff, for the fans, for the region. Everyone and
00:20everything involving Newcastle United over the past 70 years have deserved that moment.
00:26Yeah, what a day and fantastic to see Newcastle United perform at Wembley on the biggest occasion.
00:32But of course, we all know what happened then and you've got to look forward. Newcastle
00:35have a bit of a break now before their next match against Brentford. That's a week on
00:39Wednesday. So they've got a little bit of time to react. Of course, a lot of their players
00:44are on international duty, but right this weekend on Sunday, Newcastle United women
00:48face Sunderland women at St James' Park. Now, this is another huge game for the club.
00:53Of course, Darren Ailes and Bob Bonker will present the trophy to the St James' Park crowd
00:57on that day, but it's not just the reason for that, not just to see the trophy. This
01:03match is another step on the Newcastle United women's evolution. Amanda Stavely, when she
01:08came into the club back in October 2021 in the takeover, improving the women's team was
01:14one of her big goals. Of course, getting the men to win trophies, she's stated that numerous
01:20occasions and that came true last weekend. That was one of her dreams, but the other
01:24dream was to get Newcastle United women into the women's Super League. With back-to-back
01:29promotions under Becky Langley over the last couple of years, that dream is very close
01:33to being realised. Now, it probably won't happen this season. They've had a very good
01:38championship season. I think a couple of too many draws to get them into that promotion
01:44places. But this weekend, to beat Sunderland at St James' Park, a record-breaking crowd
01:48at St James' Park. The ticket sales haven't fully been announced. I'm recording this video
01:52on Thursday. Ticket sales haven't fully been announced, but it will be a record-breaking
01:56crowd. The record they're going to break, it was set at the Stadium of Light back in
01:59October. Newcastle won 2-1 on that day, and a fantastic day for the women at the Stadium
02:05of Light. They could do the double over their local rivals this weekend. Now, Sunderland
02:08sit one point in a place above Newcastle United women heading into Sunday's game. Newcastle
02:15will be keen to certainly win and leapfrog their opponents. And they have got one small
02:21eye on the promotion, whether that's actually going to happen or not. It's unlikely, but
02:25you know, never say never, especially after the week we've had, never say never in football.
02:28But yes, this week is another one for, not just Stavely and her legacy and everything
02:33she's done to help Newcastle, you know, translate Newcastle United women from not even having
02:37a team that was under the foundation of control, bringing it into the club, turning it professional,
02:41back-to-back promotions. It's not just about that, but it'll be about the 11 players on
02:44the pitch, Becky Langley on the sidelines, and of course, the thousands of people at
02:48St James' Park who will hopefully be inspired by watching the Newcastle United women team
02:53at St James' Park. Now, many of them might not have been at Wembley on Sunday. Many of
02:58them might not be able to get in Newcastle United men's matches too regularly because
03:02of the demand for tickets. This should be a really good occasion on Sunday. Ant and
03:07Dec have done their best to promote the game on social media. They've promoted a video
03:11getting people to buy their tickets. Now, tickets start from just ÂŁ2 for kids, so it's
03:15a really good way to get the match on, you know, for cheap. And to see a time where Derby
03:20knows some of the other opponents, that's going to be a massive game. It's always a
03:22massive game when someone comes to town, no matter what, whether it's the youngsters,
03:25whether it's the men or the women. So it's going to be a brilliant game, two teams evenly
03:29matched in the table. And yeah, it's going to be a fantastic game. And as I said, it's
03:34all about Newcastle United potentially signing off the most memorable weeks in style. And
03:40Amanda Stavely's legacy, Benny Langley's legacy, and all the 11, 15, 16, however many
03:46players that play on the pitch on Sunday for Newcastle United, just continuing that journey
03:50and that legacy. And the Shields Gazette will have all the very latest from St James' Park.
03:55I'll be there. I'll be getting lots of videos from that, hopefully talking to Langley and
03:59some of the players. I'll have all the post-match match report ratings. And of course, we'll
04:04have a reaction piece from what should be a record-breaking day at St James' Park and
04:08be another fantastic occasion on Tyneside with the Carabao Cup trophy present. Because
04:14of course, as I started this video, I'll end it now. Newcastle United, Carabao Cup champions.
