00:00In this week's edition of First Things First, I caught up with the ever-smiling Mr. Frankie
00:05Dettori.
00:06Take me through your trip Frankie, it looked like it was pretty easy, were you surprised
00:15to be up there on your own?
00:16Yes, I mean when I looked at the form, there was not particularly a lot of speed, and I
00:22jumped with the intention to go forward, I got a nice easy lead, and when I got him to
00:28the back, I just got him off the rail a little bit, he was playing with his ears, it went
00:31great.
00:32And from the 3.8 I winded up, and I thought well, it's good enough, because I had the
00:38perfect trip, and when I pressed the button, I looked around, I was free in front, and
00:42that was it, all over.
00:43Nobody was coming.
00:44Good, I like it.
00:45I like it.
00:46When are we going skiing?
00:47Well soon, because we had a bit of rain, and hopefully we'll get some more rain next week,
00:53so we're all on.
00:54Alright, let's go.
00:59And yes, we're looking forward to going skiing, but not this Monday like I had planned, because
01:05we do have a four-day racing week coming up on Presidents Day, so we will race from Friday
01:12through Monday.
01:15So just a reminder that we will have special holiday racing on Monday, as far as the stakes
01:19are concerned.
01:21The Grade 3 Palace Verdes is the headline on Saturday, and it will feature last year's
01:25winner in Big City Lights.
01:28Good news for horsemen and horsewomen, as Santa Anita has announced some purse increases,
01:33which is absolutely brilliant to hear.
01:36Between 8 to 11% for overnight purses, and those will start on February the 28th.
01:42Good things happening at Santa Anita.
