00:00A posh fish finger for £1.40. £22 for olive oil. Pistachio croissant. Apple and cinnamon.
00:08Ooh. Caviar, scallops. Okay, so you think you are posh and you want to shop at the most
00:15expensive supermarket chain here in the UK. Guys, it is time to get shopping at Waitrose.
00:22Yes, Waitrose is all over the UK. Hopefully you can hear me over all of the noise in the
00:26background. Goodness me, it is always so noisy down here on the edge of my road. Whack up on
00:30that, Hannah. Yes, I'm in a pretty central Waitrose, to be honest. We are in, are we in
00:34Zone 2? Very central in London. So let's see what the offering is at the most expensive supermarket.
00:40How expensive are we talking? The average 100 items come out at £245. The Which review is
00:49always good to go on, versus the cheapest, which is Aldi, at £185. As a comparison,
00:55gives you a bit of a steer on what we're looking at. It's about 30% more than the
00:59cheapest supermarkets. Let's go and see. Is it 30% better? Now, quick one, if you're new to my
01:04channel, I'm Hannah. I live in London and over the last few weeks, over the next few weeks as well,
01:08I'm going to be showing you lots of fun things about Easter in London. Lots of shopping,
01:12food, fashion, home and everything in between. Hopefully we'll get out and have some meals out
01:16as well. But yes, I thought it'd be fun to come and have a look at the most expensive supermarket.
01:20Oh my gosh, the sun has come out very briefly. Yes, new videos every Tuesday
01:24and Friday at 6pm UK time.
01:35They do have a sushi bar, Sushi Daily over there. Yum, indeed. And let's have a quick look. Fresh
01:41flowers, fresh food. Let's see what we can find. I'm trying not to film people.
01:46Try and do some good vlogger etiquette here today. Oh, what have we got here? Some daffodils,
01:51little pot, £4, two for £6.50. As Miley Cyrus says, you can buy yourself flowers and I do.
01:58Women love flowers. Look at these, they're cute. £3.50. I do love supermarket flowers. I think
02:03they're quite fantastic. Oh, that's a lovely one. We will look at the food, don't worry.
02:08Oh, they're a bit jammed in there. Oh my God, everyone's on the rob here. £16.
02:11Oh, it's where everyone tries to exit. It's not an exit and the alarm goes off. Anyway,
02:17we'll ignore the going off in the background. Right, let's get some flowers. Those are lovely.
02:22Oh, I'm going to get whatever these are. What are these? A foundation, this, whatever that is. £6.
02:28I think those are quite reasonable. Right, let's get some yummy fresh fruit.
02:32They'll have posh stuff in here, like, yeah, a box of tangerines for £3.90. Easy peelers. Are
02:39they easy peels? I feel like it's always fast advertising, isn't it? I'll try and grab out
02:44some key things, which I think look a bit fancy. Number one, mattis melon, whatever that is. £4.
02:50Obviously, these are the final prices. If you are watching this outside the UK,
02:54we don't then have tax on top. So that is the final price, if you know what I mean.
02:58What should we get? They also sell Dutchie, which is a organic brand and it has this nod.
03:07The Prince of Wales Charitable Fund. And yes, it is a very fancy premium brand. You'll see as we
03:14go round that Waitrose sells. £2.10 for kale is quite a lot of money, let's be honest. It's usually
03:19about £1. Here we go, Dutchie organic kiwi fruit. Should we give these a go? Oh, the gold ones,
03:25they're even fancier. I feel like 68p, as you can see there, 69p each is quite enough. But let's
03:32give these a go. I haven't had kiwis in ages. Maybe this should just be a Dutchie organic
03:36vlog. That is the highest tier in here. There is a Waitrose essentials. So you'll find as we go
03:42around, essential is the entry price point. And then you have standard Waitrose. There's a couple
03:46of sub brands as well. And then the top tier is Dutchie organic. Right, let's get some salad and
03:52not just throw it in the bin in three days time. Right, let's get some Dutchie. You know what,
03:56let's be bougie. This is a bougie vlog. Organic £2.50 for salad is a lot but let's see if it's
04:03any good. I'm going to try and do a couple of comparisons. Yeah, obviously you've got baby
04:06leaf and rocket salad and then your entry iceberg lettuce bag is 90p. Oh, we do love some prepared
04:13lazy fruit. This is about the same price I would say as M&S. I do have an M&S vlog, it may have gone
04:20up already. It's kind of fun to have a look around all of these. Look at these melon slices £2.80.
04:26That's so much money. Oh my gosh. I love it though. I can very rarely get nectarines I find
04:33in fruit salad £3.70. Oh, I feel like I should get something. I've been trying to,
04:38I'm hoping by the time this video goes up, I've been trying to do lent and kind of reduce or
04:43fully cut out sweets and chocolate until Easter. I don't know, I probably failed already. Oh,
04:48that does look quite lush, doesn't it? Oh, I'm being very healthy. Don't worry,
04:51we'll get on to the yummy things soon. But yeah, very nice store. Everyone's quite fancy in here.
04:57Yeah, everything is in, everyone's going to comment on the plastic. Yeah, sweet baby peppers,
05:02£2.20. The packaging, obviously I don't make the rules. I don't necessarily agree that this
05:07much should be used, but it's pretty consistent in all the retailers these days. Okay, we are here
05:13for the lazy vibes, prepared veg because I'm busy. I'm a busy girl. I've got things to do.
05:18I mean, I could chop up a bit of broccoli, let's be honest. What have we got here?
05:22Indian spiced cauliflower, charred peppers and lentils. I'm trying to see if there's any new fun
05:27stuff for spring. They don't have new call outs on their shelf edge labels, but that'd be quite
05:33a nice addition if they changed it. £4.50 Mediterranean vegetables with borlotti, beans
05:40and feta. It looks really nice. What should we get guys? What do you fancy for dinner?
05:45Yeah, that looks quite good. Let's give that a go. Also, this microphone keeps falling down.
05:50These little microphones, they're very heavy and it's just pulling my t-shirt down. It's not that
05:54type of block. I always think these are nice as well. Rice, quinoa, vegetables to fry, to whack
06:00it in the microwave. Wheat berries, lentils. I mean, it's a bit boring, but £2.50. It's just
06:05quite nice when you want something carby, but not too bad for you. Our loom tomatoes, £5. Goodness,
06:12that is a lot. Whereas your cheapest everyday ones are £1.55. This is hilarious. Peeled garlic
06:19cloves, £1.25. Oh, I can't wait for spring. Grow your own cherry tomatoes, strawberries,
06:25little tins for £5. Proper lazy salads, love. These are so good, like £4. £3. I do like the
06:32tomato and mozzarella one. Yum, indeed. Although we're in the most expensive supermarket, they do
06:44have lots of offers as well. All right, what have we got here? I always find with these packs,
06:48though, that there's always the same size in all the supermarkets. You don't want quite a whole one
06:53per person, but two is too much. I don't know. Anyway, I follow up. The sizes are a bit off.
06:58Pizza Express pizzas. What are these these days? £3. I mean, they should just be a bit bigger
07:04anyway, but I think that's pretty reasonable. What other posh stuff have we got? Yeah,
07:08number one waitrose. We've seen that on a couple of things, I think, already.
07:13Very nice. I guess that's probably a teardown from Duchy, but £4.80. I think that is for some smoked
07:18salmon. Got some duck breasts on offer. Some lamb. Organic prawns for £3.93. What a strange price,
07:28but yeah, 25% off. Gosh, it's so funny how in most of the supermarkets, I think all supermarkets now,
07:33they've changed the packaging for like minced beef, haven't they? So it's not in a tray and
07:37everyone is not a fan for celebi. This is the kind of posh laziness. Two for £3.50.
07:43Little medleys of veggies. Usually most supermarkets will be like two for £4,
07:48I think it is. But then if I look, the most expensive you've got then is the Duchy ones
07:53that are £4 for a pack, which is a lot actually. And so are those ones as well. Goodness.
07:58I'm going to give these a go. I am going to try and give up junk food, but I'm still going to
08:03let myself have sugar like that. You've got to have something, right? Do always say, like,
08:07check on here whether you're in an entry price point supermarket or not. It says how much they
08:12are per. 81p per peach. Goodness me. Let's try. Let's see what these are all about. Just spotted,
08:18they've got these little cats and dogs and they're £7 and they've got like a little
08:22plant in the back of them. How funny are those? They're really sweet.
08:27The actual Waitrose entry to mid price point, I feel like it's not that much more, but let's see.
08:43A lot of supermarkets are doing this now where they have all the knickknacks for a roast dinner,
08:48like virtual, like VM together, put in one bay, which I think is a really good idea.
08:53You've got at the bottom there, the chickens, they are £6.95 and it looks like they've got
09:00sage and onion stuffing, or you can get a plain one for £5.50. That's the everyday price. That's
09:05like your entry price point one there, guys. And then you can get something in a box,
09:09like a lamb shoulder. That's a bit more expensive. £12.50 and so forth.
09:16Pigs in blankets, a tray of stuffing, £3.65, things like Yorkshire puddings, and then your
09:25sauces at the top. So that's definitely something that's quite big now here in the UK, I'd say.
09:32Posh pizzas, number one Waitrose. I actually prefer these to like a Domino's or something
09:37like that. The M&S ones are also really good. What are we looking at? Prosciutto,
09:42mushroom and mascarpone pizza, £4.76. I don't think that's bad, guys. I really don't think
09:50that's bad. I will give them credit. They definitely have a lot across all of the price
09:54points, like your Waitrose entry price point branded at £2.20, all the way up. Stay with me,
10:01guys. £5.95 for one pack and it's crab and crayfish ravioli. So yeah, you've got like a
10:09full breadth. You've got steak selection. Oh, come on camera. This camera is going to go in the bin
10:14if anyone does. Oh gosh, I look so tired, mainly because I am. If anyone has any camera
10:19recommendations, please let me know. I might end up going back to my iPhone because this camera is
10:23driving me nuts. It just gets stuck all the time. Everyone abroad is going to cry at these prices
10:28at how cheap they are. But let's pan down to the entry price point. You have got a rump steak for
10:33£4.50. That is 230 grams. £14 for 200 gram fillet steak. That is a lot of money. But yeah,
10:43treat yourself in the supermarket. And for those watching not in the UK, I think about half of my
10:47viewers are non-UK, it costs a lot more money to eat out at restaurants in the UK. So a lot
10:53of supermarkets have these like dining in offers to kind of, yeah, get you to stay home because
10:58there's quite a big price point, yeah, between supermarket, even at this expense of supermarket,
11:02and then actually going to like a place locally and getting a steak. Do you know what I mean?
11:06Speaking of which, we love a ready meal in the UK. Why not? Why not? Oh, they've got a whole
11:11section for breakfasts. Oh, sausages, fake sausages. And we have got, you can just tell
11:17by the packaging, can't you? All of that range there is Waitrose. That's their kind of standard
11:24it's some Bob's roast potatoes, £3.25. So yeah, it's definitely for someone who
11:29is in a rush or just doesn't really enjoy cooking. And then you have got an Italian section,
11:34a Chinese section, lots of things that you can stick in the oven or even stick in the microwave
11:39in some cases. Something I have to say, I really like that they've added this like colour to each
11:44of the sections. So like the Indian one's got a beautiful like, I guess, Indian inspired motif.
11:50And then you do have like the bags at the bottom that are the grab and go's, whack it in the oven,
11:55£12, takeaway for two. I think the £12 price point has become quite competitive between
12:10here at Waitrose and then Marks and Spencer's. And they have got one main wine inside,
12:15one starter, four desserts, you get three items, chicken rabbit. They do have quite
12:22similar selection, beef fondant. Am I saying that wrong? I think I'm saying that wrong.
12:27Paella, it's definitely the same types of products. I really like the branding. So yeah,
12:31you either get a starter or a dessert with it. That looks really nice. I feel like these boxes
12:38have now become a thing at the posh supermarkets. You get like, yeah, like a barbecue beef brisket,
12:44£6 to £12, give or take a few pence, Middle Eastern style beef. So it's not part of a deal
12:51or anything. A couple of them got a bit of a promo, but yeah, there's a very expensive way
12:55of doing it, but also quite nice that you don't have to make it yourself. And then we do love
13:00a little tray, gammon with a little sauce there. I think everything's about £5 or £3 for £12.
13:07They usually have these Cajun chicken breasts, very nice. So yeah, for £12, I'm going to get
13:12two of those and then a lemon and pepper one and whack it all in the freezer. Black pudding,
13:17four slices, £1.75. Not for me, but whatever floats your boat. Oh gosh, lamb liver. I'm not
13:25sure about that. Lamb hearts, £5.50. Oh gosh. Not sure about that. I'll eat most things, but
13:32Aberdeen Angus beef, £59. Yeah. So a lot of people will come here rather than going to like
13:40local butchers, mainly because there just aren't many anymore. Yeah. £2 for a burger. I can't read
13:46them all out. Oh, it's a bit misty. They've got the mister on, but you get the gist. Oh, I like
13:52the little Easter display. And then you have the fish counter. Oh, rainbow trout with lemon and
13:58thyme butter, £4.50. Place fillets, £15.25. Lots of salmon. We do love a bit of salmon,
14:07don't we now? They do have this combo where you pick the garnish. Was that coriander,
14:12butter or lemon, and then your fish. And then, oh, I had a My Waitress card and I literally don't
14:20know where it is. Oh, lots of choice, but I'm definitely not someone who buys fish still with
14:25the head on. Can't be doing with that. A posh fish bingo for £1.40. It's me. Then we have this really
14:33fancy bit at the end. Lobster, caviar, scallops. That'll be my dinner, £5.75. I feel like salmon,
14:47fish is very expensive now, isn't it? And then the really fancy, that number one brand, £12.95.
14:53I mean, they are really big pieces. I mean, that's a massive piece. I don't know. Oh, that looks quite
14:59good. Salmon on crout, quite big actually, £6.25. Like I said, I usually shop online and actually
15:07like coming to a store, I know it sounds a bit silly, it's really nice just to actually see
15:10everything. But I'm going to be honest with you. Yes, of course, I bought some very expensive
15:14strawberries, one pager. Some of this stuff is not that expensive. I feel like it's actually
15:20quite reasonable, some of the entry price point. I don't know, correct me if I'm wrong. Oh my gosh,
15:25I haven't had these in ages. Thai style salmon fish cakes. They are so good. Yeah, three for £12.
15:31Obviously a bit fancier than usual. Shrimp and roasted garlic herb butter for £5.50. I feel
15:38like I could just make a whole video just on cheese. Yeah, quite the selection. And yeah,
15:44there's a lot more on offer. Like I said, oh, camera, what are you doing? Yeah, lots of promos,
15:4920% off, reduced to clear. Some snacking chorizos, salamis. Oh, beige goodness. They
15:56haven't got much in this store, but a fluted pork pie, that can't be £3.50. It's absolutely massive.
16:05I don't know. And then a posh sausage roll, £3.25, £3.25. Pork and apple.
16:13Oh, look at that. Massive pie, £1.60 per 100 grams. Pork, chicken and ham pie.
16:21Oh, guys, are you hungry? Oh, what have we got here? Oh, doesn't look so appetising, but some
16:27nice ham. I mean, it is a food video. You are going to be hungry watching this, but if you
16:32are enjoying it, do give this video a thumbs up. I'd really appreciate it. Okay, we're at the
16:36rotisserie chicken counter. You can get a full chicken for £7.95, which I don't think is too
16:44bad, or half. I think this is the same price as M&S actually. Or you can get one, what's the
16:49difference? Oh, that isn't free range for £6.75. And they do have a garlic one as well, £7.20.
16:57I think this is what posh people do. They pick up some fancy hummus for £2.75,
17:03and then they pick up a book. That's so random. Pick up some olives. I guess this is like the
17:09full on charcuterie board. Bits and bobs. Gosh, they've got loads of different hams. These are
17:15the things that get you though, £3. These little like hams rolled up. Cheeses, they're so good.
17:22And a posh supermarket wouldn't be complete without some kind of like platter for £10.
17:27A bit of posh ham is £1 a slice. Yeah, £4 and you get four slices. Gosh, that is very expensive.
17:35Oh, that looks really nice. I'm actually going to get some ham because I need to get better
17:41at taking my lunch into work. I really don't like buying lunch at work. I'm quite happy
17:45with the sandwich. But yeah, I feel like I've got some relatively healthy stuff.
17:49Anything with elderflower, I swear, is so good. So I'm going to treat myself to that.
17:53I feel like everybody's ill at the moment, so I think I probably need to
17:57up my vitamin C. £3.50. Let's go for the bougie one. I don't like it with bits.
18:02All right, don't come for me. Oh, and they have a whole display for Caffe Nero coffee.
18:06Hmm.
18:20But they even have actually, scoot down, that number one brand in the freezer department.
18:25£6.25 for a fruit tart. That's pretty posh, £6 for some gelato. So two pints of milk
18:34is £1.55. That's skimmed milk. I'm going to get actually a small one. If you want the Dutchy
18:40branded, that posh stuff. Oh, it's dripping. Oh, not a problem. Two pints of the posh milk is £2.25.
18:47So that's, I guess, the price difference between your entry to exit. Oh, these are always an
18:52offer in Tesco. I do like to make a coffee, but have that oat milk. I just feel like it works
18:59better. Oh, this one. Literally no one in here. Nice rock and roll. Since when did Heinz do pasta
19:07sauces? I've never noticed that. £22 for olive oil. Let's just get some mixed nuts. £3.70.
19:17I usually buy my nuts from Aldi, but we're not at Aldi today. Oh, like literally where is everyone?
19:22This is so bizarre. It is the middle of the day. I'm like a moth to a flame. Spring afternoon tea.
19:29Oh, they do have call outs. Okay. They just haven't got many new things. Spring afternoon
19:34tea selection. Oh my gosh. Look at these cakes. £7. £3.50. They've got chocolate and raspberry
19:40cupcakes, little Florentines. I'm not going to get these because I need to cut down, but they
19:46look gorgeous, don't they? Look at that one. Bouquet cake. Obviously these don't need
19:51refrigerating. I know some people always ask. They've got an under the sea one for £17.
19:57Oh, they've even got a little, well, massive monster one. £17 seems to be the price point.
20:03I feel like everyone goes mad for sourdough. Do we love sourdough or are we just pretending?
20:07I don't know. Jason's is the brand that a lot of people buy. £3 for a loaf.
20:12Their entry. I feel like this is not that expensive. £1 for a Waitrose loaf of bread.
20:19Hovis is £1.45. I feel like you'd have to be careful if you were coming here just to buy
20:24like Waitrose essential. I feel like it could be, dare I say, could it be cheaper or almost the same
20:30as Aldi? Probably not cheaper, but you know what I mean? It would be hard not to buy all the bougie
20:34stuff. Yes. Open air. Eat if you dare. We've got number one Waitrose. Look at those cakes. £1.85.
20:45Pistachio croissant £1.85. I feel like I've never had a pistachio croissant. Have you? I always think
20:51it must be a posh loaf of bread when it's got like that edible stamp on it. £2. £4.70. San Francisco.
21:00That's, oh my God, are we on a hill? Why is this going into the thing? Oh gosh, I haven't even shown
21:04you the Easter stuff, have I? Flipping heck, I've been yakking away. Right, so what have we got? We
21:08have got hot cross buns. They have got these mini ones. I do like a mini hot cross bun.
21:13Just feels like you're getting more for your money. £1.95 or a pack of four for £1.95. I think the
21:20M&S ones are £2.20, so these are cheaper. Apple and cinnamon. Ooh. St Clement's hot cross bun.
21:29I'm not really an orange fan. Blueberry hot cross buns. I feel like the new thing now is lemon,
21:35but they've got chocolate and lemon. Oh, that bottom left one looks big, doesn't it? The entry
21:40one is actually £1.20, which is pretty reasonable. Right, that is very cheap. Okay, and then the
21:46really posh ones. The number one brand, again, £3. Oh my God, they're absolutely bloody massive.
21:53Belgian chocolate hot cross buns, and then they do have an apricot to get them out, and a stem
21:58of ginger. Oh gosh, should I get some and put them in the freezer? Oh gosh, this will end up
22:06being quite costly. I've got a couple of little bits and bobs that I need. I wanted to see what
22:10Easter eggs they have. I feel like I haven't found them yet. We've got Lint Bunnies £4.25. They are
22:14usually on offer in most retailers. Salted caramel. I think there's white chocolate. That's
22:19my personal fave. Milk. Yum, indeed. And then the bigger ones are £6.75. Has anyone tried this
22:25Mini Eggs Massive Bar for £5.50? I can't show you everything, but they have got some yummy
22:31looking cookies. Florentines £4.25. I feel like Tim Tams keep popping up. I think they're just
22:38like a penguin. Oh yeah, literally penguins. How bizarre. I feel like Tesco have had Easter eggs
22:43since, like, Boxing Day, haven't they? Am I missing them? No. And you have got a massive
22:48boo section. We're British. We love some boos. Yeah, it's not cornered off or anything like that.
22:55And my benchmark on pricing is usually Whispering Angel. This is £24 in Tesco and Sainsbury's or
23:01wherever. But it's £22.25 in here, so it's actually cheaper. I genuinely think quite a lot
23:06of stuff in here is cheaper, but then other stuff is obviously... Oh, I got static. But other stuff
23:10is like mad money, so I don't know. All right, I think we've got a Lint display here. Yeah,
23:16they don't have any Easter eggs. How bizarre. But any who's... Oh, are you a Lint money fan?
23:28This entire shop is on a hill.
23:32So that came to £83. Now, obviously, I picked up some very fancy expensive things there.
23:39You know, like £3, £4 for a packet of ham. I definitely wouldn't usually buy that. But
23:44yeah, let's see if it's worth the money. I definitely think if you came in here and you
23:47could be very strict with yourself, you could get some good stuff at a reasonable price.
23:52Yeah, some of it is mad. I'm sure some people live and eat and breathe Dutchie every single week.
23:58I am not that type of person. Maybe one day. Who knows? But yeah, I do love Waitrose. I think they
24:03have got some really good kind of food solutions. This is not an ad. I mean, Waitrose, if you want
24:07to sponsor me, that would be appreciated. But yes, I sometimes struggle figuring out what I want,
24:12and I personally would pay a smidge more for convenience. I didn't even buy any booze.
24:17Jesus. Anyway, what on earth was £84? I can't quite believe that. I think I picked up some
24:25bougie stuff. Bougie indeed. You just have to accept the noise of the traffic. But guys, that
24:30was spring shopping with a smidge of Easter. I think I might change the order of this video
24:34because this was meant to be an Easter video, which hasn't happened. But I hope you enjoyed
24:38that. £84. What is that in dollars? About $100-ish, $105 US dollars if you're watching.
24:44That is very, very, very expensive. But I hope you enjoyed that. Maybe it inspired you maybe
24:49to make your own food because it's darn cheaper. But anyway, I'm going to love and leave you.
24:53Thank you so much for watching. Remember, new videos every Tuesday and Friday at 6pm.
24:56We're going around lots of supermarkets. We'll do a bit of fashion, a bit of home, a bit of this,
24:59a bit of that. And yes, the sun is shining. Look at this. I should have done a walking tour today.
25:04But anyway, lots of London things. I will see you in a few days time. Make sure you give the
25:08video a thumbs up. I hope you're not too hungry and I'm going to put this away before it gets
25:11pinched by a bike going past. Bye guys. Oh, if you can't be good, be careful.
25:34Bye.
