00:00The DOST is pushing for their inventions and products to be available to the public

00:05so that more of our countrymen can benefit from them.

00:10And the agency that can also help in the preparation if there is a pandemic that will come is also being planned.

00:22The Department of Science and Technology continues to push for commercialization

00:26so that the public can benefit from the research and development or inventions being done.

00:32This includes the health-related activities that are being taught by one of its agencies,

00:37the Philippine Council for Health and Research and Development or PCHRD,

00:42which is one of the leading actors in the establishment of the Virology Institute of the Philippines.

00:48According to Secretary Renato Saldong Jr., it is important for projects to support the strategic pillars of government.

00:55This includes the existence of a long and prosperous life.

00:58This research and development, which is sometimes related to the well-being of our countrymen,

01:06can also be profited by our innovators and our countrymen.

01:11Because if we can commercialize this, companies will build,

01:16innovators, scientists, engineers, and the sales force will be needed and there will be a lot of work to be generated.

01:26Saldong explains that it is important for innovators to have an entrepreneurial mindset,

01:31such as being cost-effective with a product so that more can benefit from it.

01:36It can also help if investors are risk-takers so that the whole innovation can be polished.

01:42At the same time, PCHRD is the leading agency in the sectoral planning of the so-called Virology Institute of the Philippines.

01:49This includes the provision of policies that can help.

01:53According to the DOST, the facility is a great help to be more prepared for the possibility of a pandemic.

01:59The second and perhaps the easiest thing for people to understand in the current problem is our food security.

02:09Because the Virology Institute of the Philippines' proposal is not only for the well-being of people,

02:16but also for the well-being of animals and plants.

02:19In the midst of the pandemic, it is important to pass on the establishment of this

02:23so that problems such as African Swine Fever and Avian Flu can be solved.
