लखनऊ-सुल्तानपुर रेल ट्रैक पर मंगलवार तड़के निहालगढ़ के पास एक ट्रक रेलवे फाटक तोड़ते हुए पटरी पर आ गया। उसी समय ट्रक की टक्कर एक गुजर रही मालगाड़ी से हो गई। इस हादसे में इंजन सहित इलेक्ट्रिक लाइन, पोल और बैरिकेडिंग क्षतिग्रस्त हो गए। टक्कर के बाद ट्रक करीब 100 मीटर तक घिसटता चला गया, जिससे उसका चालक गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गया। इस दुर्घटना के कारण लखनऊ-सुल्तानपुर-वाराणसी रेलवे ट्रैक पूरी तरह बाधित हो गया, जिससे ट्रैक से गुजरने वाली सभी ट्रेनें जहां थीं, वहीं रुक गईं। लखनऊ डिवीजन के डीआरएम एसएम शर्मा ने बताया, "ट्रक लेवल क्रॉसिंग गेट पर फंस गया था और तब तक ट्रेन आ गई और उससे टकरा गई।"
