00:00Good morning guys, welcome back to the vlog.
00:27Today is a big day.
00:28I've actually already taken the baby
00:30to spend a day with my mom.
00:31I have, Romeo and I both have kept him
00:36for like four or five days
00:37cause I was missing him so much.
00:39So it was nice to like work on projects and work
00:41but also like he's in the next room
00:43so I can pop in and see him, you know.
00:46But today is a big day.
00:47We're working a lot outside
00:49and we're moving the clawfoot tub.
00:51I was like, okay, that's a lot.
00:52Like we can't like, you know, move a clawfoot tub
00:54and do a lot of work outside
00:56and you know, like make sure that he has what he needs.
01:00We've had a few days that have been super windy
01:03and we had some trees, limbs, pretty substantial limbs fall.
01:07Some like smaller things
01:08and I just want to like get the property cleaned up
01:10while the weather is good today.
01:12We can kind of.
01:16He gets excited, the donkey gets excited
01:19when he sees someone.
01:20So we want to get the yard picked up today,
01:23move the clawfoot tub.
01:24I have some more clips that I need to do.
01:26We've done a lot of work in where you're standing.
01:28So you're going to see that this Sunday on my other channel.
01:32Great, so we did tile and trim the windows and things.
01:35Looks really good.
01:36It's definitely to a point where we can move in the tub
01:38and I can get that all assembled today.
01:40Also, I've been like doing a lot of research at night
01:42and thinking about where we're moving into next.
01:45Like what section of the bathroom?
01:47And that is the shower.
01:49And I need to do a lot in the shower.
01:51I need to do like waterproofing.
01:54I have like a whole system coming
01:56to do that with all of the supplies.
01:58I have like all of the faucets and things
02:00that I need to pull out and assess.
02:02I need to bring all of the tile that's going in there
02:05from the shed up to the house.
02:07So we're going to do all of that today.
02:08So I have all of my supplies ready to go.
02:10And when I was working on the big window set,
02:12I was going to work on this window too,
02:15but I'm so kind of like unsure
02:18about how the shower is going to shape up
02:20that I don't want to get any like mudding
02:22or anything on the trim.
02:25So I'm like, I'm not, why would I, you know,
02:27it's just going to be like the next stage.
02:29After I do the shower, mud it,
02:31get it waterproofed and tile it,
02:33then I'll trim out the window
02:34because then I'll know like where it's going to come out to.
02:36But it's going to be nice to have a shower.
02:38Although I love a good bath moment,
02:41especially with these faucets that we have with the wand.
02:44So nice.
02:45I washed my hair this morning.
02:46It's been good.
02:47Okay, we got a lot to do today.
02:49Okay, we're moving the tub.
02:50This is going to be an adventure.
02:52Romy and I put it in here recently
02:55with the last couple of weeks, we put it in here.
02:57I think our plan is to shove it
03:00to the door opening of the bathroom.
03:03And then we're going to have to pick it up
03:05because I do not want to drag it
03:07across my new freshly laid tile floor.
03:10Like I can't run the risk of like,
03:13like messing anything up.
03:14And I think that cloth foot tub is like 200 pounds.
03:17Here it should go.
03:18Okay.
03:19Let's see if we can keep it in here.
03:24It's supposed to push, not pull.
03:26So that way your back won't be disgusting.
03:29You want to dance with me?

03:38We're going to have to sand this whole thing anyway.

03:41We couldn't really pick it up
03:43for an extended period of time.
03:44So we got it without damaging anything.
03:46I think we kind of,
03:47we're going to sand this floor regardless
03:49when we refinish this floor.
03:51So it's really fine.
03:52So we got it.
03:54So I've been working on the bathroom for a little bit
03:56and I have hit a major,
03:59major snag.

04:06because I'm going to need your advice about what to do.
04:09I'm going to see what my options are

05:24All my life, I'm lonely now.
05:29We got everything piled up.
05:30We just had so many limbs
05:32and also not this last freeze that we had,
05:36but the one before that froze the bamboo,
05:39which I actually thought was impossible.
05:41Bamboo, that bamboo is so evasive.
05:45Like it throws into your yard
05:47and it's like, I've got it everywhere.
05:48It's not even ours.
05:50It actually started at the neighbor's yard.
05:53Person that lived there before then,
05:55their daughter planted a whole bunch of stuff.
05:57And one of those was the bamboo
05:58and it's just like taken over.
06:00So if you want bamboo at your house,
06:02just know that it's very hard to control.
06:04It will go to your neighbors.
06:06Well, it will just keep growing.
06:08It's kind of intense.
06:09So we got all the dead ones that had like laid over
06:12and stuff and like blown over from the last
06:15like wind storm that we kind of had.
06:17It was like a hundred mile an hour winds.
06:20It was like really intense.
06:21So I am, I'm going to make me some element,

07:58I do have to borrow my dad's ladder
08:00when I go pick up the baby later on.
08:02So I'm going to bring the ladder back
08:04because there's two things that I need to get up high for.
08:07One outside, one inside.
08:08The inside, I have to change out the filter
08:11on the AC, the second AC unit we have.
08:14We have two.
08:15We have one AC unit for the old house
08:17and then one AC unit for the new addition
08:20because how the roof line came down and stuff,
08:23it already was pushing and it wasn't going to be enough
08:25to fill the whole house.
08:27So we had to get two units and the second unit,
08:29I didn't want to invest in another
08:30like pull down attic ladder.
08:33I have one here, but I'm like, I'll just put a ladder.
08:36I'll just use a ladder.
08:37And oh, it's so annoying.
08:40I wish I would have done it
08:41because I don't own a 12 foot ladder
08:44and our ceilings are 12 foot.
08:45So it's hard to get up there.
08:47But also, you know what would have been even better
08:50is I would have made them put the filters on the intake.
08:56So like down here, like in the ceiling here,
08:59so I could just get on a ladder and pull it down
09:01and replace the filter and close it
09:03instead of going up to the actual unit.
09:06It's just a pain.
09:07I also feel a little better about our whole mishap.
09:09Well, a tad, a tad bit better.
09:12Whole mishap we had in the bathroom.
09:13But then every time I look at it, I'm like distraught again.
09:17It is with the drain.
09:19I won't keep it too much of a secret,
09:21but like it is an issue with the drain
09:23that I knew was gonna be an issue.
09:27I think I found a solution, but it's gonna be more work.
09:29And it's a whole nother project.
09:31It's a whole nother thing.
09:33But, you know, it is what it is.
09:36So our time has run out.
09:39It's time to go pick up Cade.
09:40Honestly, he's almost all I think about all day.
09:43I really try and dive into my projects
09:46and I do, obviously, I'm getting work done on this bathroom.
09:51He consumes my thoughts.
09:53I love him so much.
09:55So gotta go get him.
09:56I'm gonna run.
09:57I just realized that I forgot to do one thing outside.
09:58I'm gonna go run, do one thing outside
09:59and we're gonna go pick up Cade.
10:01Oh, he's asleep.
10:21Oh, he's sleeping.
10:25He's moving, he's waking up.
10:27How long has he been asleep for?
10:30A while.
10:35So this is the tile for the shower.
10:38I have a stack here and also a stack here
10:42because it needs quite a bit.
10:44I found this tile at Floor and Decor.
10:46And I remember when I was picking tile,
10:48I was contemplating how far up and down,
10:52like how, where I was gonna put the tile.
10:55I wish I would have made the ceiling
10:57and the shower only 10 foot.
11:00I wish I would have dropped the ceiling.
11:04Well, that was what, I know.
11:07I always thought and I always think
11:09when I see inspiration pictures of showers,
11:11I always think that they're really pretty
11:14when the tile goes all the way to the ceiling.
11:16But we have 12 foot ceilings.
11:23And it's a wall and I'm gonna have like a glass door.
11:25Like I want like a stationary piece of glass
11:28and then the door is glass that opens.
11:31It's gonna be costly to do it all the way up, for sure.
11:37And they did ask me, and at the time I think,
11:40I don't know, everything tall, everything tall.
11:41I just want everything tall.
11:43And I think it would have done a couple of things.
11:45I think it would have kept like the heat in the shower.
11:48I think that would have been nice.
11:49I don't think it's necessary to have a 12 foot shower.
11:52And it would have saved me money in tile.
11:56Because when I thought about going up from the floor
12:00up to only like eight foot, 10 foot, it looked weird.
12:05It looked less designer to me to have it like stop.
12:09And I thought it looked more intentional
12:11and more, I don't know,
12:14just like designer, like to go all the way up
12:15instead of stop it.
12:17It cost me like 250 or 300 more dollars
12:21to go the extra two foot
12:23because I need to do all three walls.
12:25I need to do the two side walls.
12:27So four foot in and four foot along the back, up two foot.
12:30And so I think this is marble.
12:33And it's so, this is so pretty.
12:35It's like picket tile.
12:37When I was in floor decor too, my mom was with me.
12:40We picked each individual tile piece, tile sheet
12:45because some of the sheets had more gray
12:48and I wanted a little bit of gray and more warm.
12:50So like, you can see like this has more, you know,
12:53this piece has more gray in it
12:55and this is more solid white,
12:57but then you've got a lot of them
12:59that have a lot of warmth in it.
13:01And that's what I wanted.
13:02I wanted that.
13:05I wanted those warm pieces.
13:07You can see this one got really gray, that one.
13:10And I don't know if it's allowed or not,
13:12but when I was in floor and decor, you know,
13:14you want to make sure that each sheet is not broken.
13:18You know, so I looked at each sheet to know
13:19that I was buying, you know, first quality material.
13:22And as we were picking them, we were making the boxes
13:25and be like, if there was one that was off, you know,
13:28too gray or wasn't pretty, I left that one.
13:31You're also buying by the sheet.
13:32So I do think it's acceptable.
13:34At least that's what I'm telling myself.
13:35So, and we needed quite a bit.
13:37I've got quite a bit here.
13:38So I want to get all of this material up there
13:41and ready to go.
13:43Another thing I need to assess is the lighting
13:46for the bathroom.
13:47And I put all my lighting over here
13:50and I've got a chandelier, vanity lights
13:53that I may need to find.
13:55I don't know if I really have any.
13:56And I think that's it actually.
13:58Everything else is reset.
13:59Those are the only two like decorative lights.
14:00So maybe you guys can help me figure out
14:02if we need to find some vanity lights
14:04or what we have is going to work.
14:05I'm not sure.
14:07Here's the chandelier.
14:12It's a really pretty like bronzy color.
14:16It's bronze.
14:17And I thought it was going to be like the perfect compliment
14:21to the plumbing fixtures that I have
14:22because we did an antique brass,
14:25which is darker in color.
14:27It's not bright at all.
14:28It's not bright gold or bright brass.
14:31It's not unlacquered either.
14:32It won't patina over time.
14:34It's a specific color.
14:36So it had some darker color to it.
14:39So I thought that this was going to be a beautiful
14:41like chandelier for over the tub.
14:43No idea where I found this,
14:46but it was $189 if I paid what was on the tag.
14:49Loved all the detail.
14:50Like look at the little curls on the inside.
14:53Like I love the ball at the bottom,
14:56but for sure I'm going to need to rewire it 100%.
15:01It's not long enough.
15:02And I want to hang it over the tub
15:04down 12 foot as far as I can go
15:07and still be in code and for safety.
15:10For safety reasons, you know,
15:11like if you're in the tub and you're falling,
15:14they don't want you to grab onto the chandelier and fall.
15:18You know, so like I need to put it at the right height.
15:21So I need to determine how far down that can go.
15:24Yeah, the wiring is pretty shoddy.
15:25So I need vanity lights to go with this light
15:30in that space on each side of the mirror.
15:32And my mom actually has a,
15:34I've been looking at all of my mirrors.
15:35Nothing was big enough.
15:37My mom actually has a beautiful mirror that she's not using.
15:40She had saved just for whatever reason,
15:43she found it in an estate sale.
15:45It's going to be really pretty.
15:47So for vanity lights, I need something like beautiful,
15:51but on the smaller scale.
15:53I need like, not sconces, but yeah, kind of,
15:56like to go on each side of the mirror, you know,
15:59like obviously that's not it.
16:01I have two of these, I think,
16:04or maybe just one, but that's not it either.
16:05This like more green, it's like an up light.
16:09I think I wanted this one for like
16:10in the hallway somewhere.
16:12I have two of these,
16:16but like these feel like outdoor lights.
16:22Don't they?
16:23Like, I kind of feel like they'd feel like outdoor lights.

16:38And I think I put all of my lighting here.

16:41I kind of remembered not having the right ones.
16:43That's why I bought some and they're not, they're not it.
16:49They're over there.
16:50I can't reach them,
16:51but they're like up lights or down lights
16:54and they're more bright brass.
16:56And I think I want something with some darkness in it
16:59to go with these.
17:00I want them to compliment each other.
17:03I mean, and that is darker brass,
17:04but what am I going to use those for?
17:07I think I got them for relatively like nothing.
17:10Like it was very inexpensive.
17:11I was like, it was almost,
17:13it would be just a horrible thing to leave them.
17:15I like, I had to buy them.
17:16I don't know, should I bring them in?
17:18All right, let's bring one.
17:21Let's take a look.
17:22But I feel like they're outdoor lights for sure.
17:24I just don't know where I would use them.
17:26I do have places for outdoor lights out here,
17:29but I actually found them for free outside of a thrift store
17:32that match our front patio lights.
17:34So I don't need them out here.
17:35I found four and I need, oh no, I found five.
17:38And I needed five lights and I found them for free.
17:41They were in like the junk pile.
17:43I was like, I'll take them.
17:44I'll refinish them.
17:45I'll take them.
17:46So that's another project that we have to do
17:47when we work on like the outside.

18:01They're feeling like outdoor, outside lights.

18:11I feel like they're feeling like outside lights.
18:15Like they'd be beautiful, you know,
18:16like coming in the front door, you know, like a back,
18:18like they're, they're beautiful,
18:20but what am I gonna use them for?
18:22I think I should be on a mission to look for something
18:25that works better.
18:27I do like the, you know, kind of like brushed brass color
18:30and it's like the same, you know,
18:32so it would really tie in.
18:34That would be, that would be really nice and ideal for sure.
18:37I have a big day ahead of me.
18:39I'm gonna prep the shower
18:40and I'm gonna assess this new project that I have to tackle.
18:44I have a list of things that I need to order for the shower.
18:46I need like a waterproofing system.
18:48And so I did a lot of research.
18:50Like I Googled a ton.
18:52I watched a ton of YouTube videos on making this,
18:55you know, like refreshing my memory.
18:56I had watched them before,
18:57but refreshing my memory on everything.
18:59And also right there in the center,
19:01I have an inset for a shelf, you know,
19:03to put like shampoo and body wash on.
19:06And I wanna do something fun there.
19:08I wanna do something different than the tile.
19:10So the picket tile that I just showed you
19:12is gonna go up all the walls.
19:13And then the floor is this Soho tile,
19:18which is like various colors of like gray
19:21and warm, like warm white, like this.
19:26You know, so it's very,
19:27and it's got a lot of like texture and movement.
19:30It's really pretty.
19:32I got that at Florence Decor too.
19:33I'll leave that one late.
19:34Cause that's a good one.
19:35My mom used it too in some way in her studio.
19:40So those are gonna be on the floor.
19:42And I contemplated doing that same Soho tile
19:45on the back here, which is an option.
19:49I was thinking that, and I wanna do some more research.
19:51I was thinking that it would be cool to do like a scene,
19:56like a pattern, like a scene.
19:59And I've seen like some people use like tile
20:04that are like little, basically mosaic.
20:05Think it's mosaic, but not mosaic tile,
20:08not like squares, like actual shapes.
20:10Like you would see in like stained glass,
20:12but in tile and build my own kind of scene.
20:16I would definitely flush that idea out,
20:17but that would be so sweet.
20:18I mean, it would be so hidden in a shower,
20:21but it would be such a like a unique detail.
20:24And I'm all about those little details,
20:25those little unique details.
20:27And it wouldn't need to be much.
20:28I can measure it and see, you know what I can build,
20:31maybe order some different like shapes and things
20:34and like make my own.
20:35I feel like it could be really special.
20:37But I'm gonna get started in here.
