00:00Hello everybody, how's it going? Welcome to another Newcastle United daily update.
00:04It's been a bit of a mad 48 hours with Newcastle United back to the weekend.
00:09I said after Eddie Howe's press conference didn't I that Newcastle can't ruin your weekend
00:13and it's when the weather's meant to be sound so enjoy yourself in the pub or take the Miffy's
00:18out for dinner, whatever it might be just put Newcastle United to the back of the mind because
00:22the 10 days before that had been a bit of a bit of a tricky one with the injury situations and
00:28the red card and the FA Cup exit blah blah blah but the past 48 hours has just sprouted a few
00:37seeds of enthusiasm shall we say so take your minds back to Monday night Newcastle a gritty
00:43determined 1-0 win at West Ham it wasn't great by any means it was hard to pick a standout performer
00:50from the game I thought Bruno Gamalos was very good thought Joe Linton was his battle himself
00:55and then type of games where it's engineering it's not much in it you need people to dig in
01:02Newcastle's got the win like I said wasn't brilliant but uh three points massive massive
01:07three points because they started they started the night in ninth place and now they're right
01:11back up there in the mix just behind Man City in the Champions League in the Champions League places
01:17but then the Liverpool game last night now if you're a Newcastle fan and you were watching that
01:22that went more or less perfectly to script really uh now obviously there might be one or two years
01:29not wanting to wish any serious injuries on a professional football player or anything there
01:33might have been a couple of years wanting a little cheeky maybe more Salah toast up or a Van Dijk
01:41sore calf or whatever that didn't happen but the third uh blue chip play after Liverpool Trent
01:47Alexander Arnold he went off after a look well looked like he rolled his ankle and on his slot
01:53Liverpool manager after the game said it's very unlikely that he's going to be in the team for
01:57Sunday and what makes that even more interesting is that Conor Bradley who's the the natural
02:03replacement there's four four Trent he's also out he's not expected to be in the game either he's
02:09been out for a few weeks now he got injured at Aston Villa earlier I think back in the last
02:14month started this month uh so so he's out as well so Jorrell Kwanzaa a player who was linked
02:20with Newcastle last summer a natural centre-back he looks likely to be starting that game right
02:27back now which is interesting a lot was made about Anthony Gordon versus Trent Alexander
02:32Arnold what a match-up that would be the two Scouse lads in the final at Wembley that was just
02:3610 days ago so shows you how much things can change in football that I mean if Eddie Howe
02:42needed a blueprint on how to play against Liverpool especially given the fact that PSG play
02:47in the similar style of formation really of 4-3-3 I've gone for Tignar in that midfield
02:53what a baller he is I could do a separate video just on him my god what a player
02:59but the way Dembele was in the number nine position both footed sort of putting Liverpool's
03:06defenders into no man's land I was sitting there thinking Alexander Isak must be licking his lips
03:12at the thought of this so yeah it was a it was a it was a good night for Newcastle last night
03:18Liverpool got dragged all the way in the extra time which again with a Wembley Cup final right
03:24on the horizon that can only be good news for Newcastle they got beaten on penalties and some
03:28of them Liverpool players faces after the game Mohamed Salah he was basically crying they looked
03:33deflated and sometimes events like that in a season is all it takes for a team to have like
03:39a little blip you know like a little because they've got the league's thrown up haven't they
03:45they've got the Premier League's thrown up they were probably thinking the whole and the whole
03:49club the fans the manager the players everyone they were probably thinking to get past PSG last
03:54night remember they went into the game one little after the first leg then they had Aston Villa or
03:59Club Rouge in there in the round after that they were probably thinking they were on for a nice
04:02little run in the Champions League then all of a sudden have that sucker punch PSG rocked up
04:07fully deserved the win by the way and there to not go through that is a real a real signal for
04:14for Liverpool maybe he's beating PSG in the Champions League isn't for everybody yeah
04:18Newcastle fans maybe that's just one and then all of a sudden when all hope looked lost and
04:23everybody was right in Newcastle United off now don't get us wrong I'm not here saying it's a
04:28bank that's a home run or whatever far from it Liverpool are by by and large without question
04:36their favourites going to this final haven't checked the odds but I'd be willing to bet the
04:39odds on flying high in the Premier League I'm not saying anything there to suggest otherwise but
04:46all hope around around Newcastle around the city was a little bit everything was a little
04:51bit gloomy and down in the dubs now after watching that Liverpool game last night
04:55Trent's injury Newcastle's win on Monday there is crumbs of comfort there to go down to the
05:02capital and if ever they needed a battle cry I thought Bruno Gamara speaking to Sky after the
05:07game I think he certainly valued the keeps you know he said he wants to be a legend we've heard
05:13him say that in the past but he also said there's no reason why Newcastle on the day can't go down
05:18there and win then I wouldn't want to put all my money on it I wouldn't want to put the life
05:24savings on a house or or anything like that on it but I have said for a couple of weeks now
05:31just trying you know urging a little bit of optimism because a lot of people you know how
05:36it can be especially on social media it's always a glass half empty outlook and you know Newcastle
05:42United they're in a another Wembley final let's just see what happens there you never know like
05:49I said earlier PSG certainly gave them gave anyhow plenty food for thought ahead of the game
05:54there's going to be some pretty key battles going into that final that were pretty unexpected
06:00I would expect Eddie Howe to stick with the same team he played on Monday if I think it's I think
06:05he either does that or he rips the rule book up totally rips the whole team up and you say you're
06:09back five what he played against Arsenal in the semi-final but I wouldn't expect that I think
06:15that's the either or choice I think it'll either be the team on Monday or the back five I would
06:19expect him to go with the same team on Monday and that would that would throw up some pretty
06:24interesting matchups pretty unexpected ones as well we weren't expecting Mohamed Salah
06:29best player in the Premier League by a mile this season to be going up against Tino
06:33Livimento at left back you've got Harvey Barnes against Kwanzaa that's going to be another
06:39interesting one I mean he's going to be at the court where if Harvey Barnes hasn't played much
06:42football this season he's going to be against a centre-half playing at right back essentially so
06:49yeah lots of food for thought ahead of the fail and it's not ones that are positive news positive
06:54news all around haven't you there's going to be lots of build-up lots of coverage as you would
06:58expect on Newcastle World we've got an interview dropping a sheer given later on the week that
07:03will go out before the final at some point but even before then you've got that Eddie Howe press
07:07conference and I'm hearing there will be a player alongside Eddie Howe on Friday it's not going to
07:13be the usual press conference he's going to be up there with a player no word on who that player
07:16might be yet but time will tell I suppose so stay tuned to Newcastle World and I'll catch you later
