At Tuesday's Senate Republican leadership press briefing, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) was asked if he would encourage President Trump to back down from a trade war.

00:20is trying to accomplish a specific objective here, and that is to haul fentanyl into this
00:25country, and the terrorists are a tool in order to make that happen.
00:29And I am supportive of using terrorists in a way to accomplish a specific objective,
00:34in this case, ending drug trafficking.
00:37But as I've said before, I hope that these are temporary.
00:41I think the one thing that markets don't like is uncertainty, and there's obviously uncertainty,
00:47I think, around that tariff policy.
