00:00DAP Organizing Secretary Steven Simp has denied allegations by a former party assemblyman
00:07of vote-buying in the run-up to DAP's elections for its Central Executive Committee this weekend.
00:13He said DAP had appointed a third party, an international firm, to oversee the election
00:18process and ensure that it is conducted fairly and transparently.
00:23He said he has full confidence that the party's values, delegates and members will prevent
00:27such things from happening.
00:29Former Bagan Dalam Assemblyman Satis Monyandi earlier said that a live member of DAP had
00:35told him that vote-buying had allegedly crept into the election process for the party's
00:39top leadership posts.
00:42He said delegates were allegedly being offered cash in the guise of travel allowances and
00:46a weekend stay at a five-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
00:50According to multiple sources, he said a Penang MP and assemblyman were purportedly involved
00:55in securing votes for their political superior.
00:58Satis, who is now the Urimay Secretary, said he was prepared to lodge an official complaint
01:03to demand accountability.
01:06Simp said Satis was welcome to report the matter but noted that he was no longer with
01:10DAP.
01:11Donnie Roger Reza, FMT.
