A police raid on a grocery shop in Taman Universiti, Skudai last week led to the arrest of three suspects and the seizure of drugs and assets worth over half a million ringgit.

00:00A police raid on a grocery shop in Taman University, Skudai last week, led to the arrest of three
00:08suspects and the seizure of drugs and assets worth over half a million ringgit.
00:15Johor Bahru North District Police Chief ACP Balveer Singh said among the drugs seized
00:20were one kilogram of shabu, estimated to be enough for 5,480 addicts, along with nearly
00:27two kilograms of ecstasy powder, which could cater to 6,144 users.
00:34The authorities also confiscated over one kilogram of cannabis, sufficient for 1,073
00:41users.
00:42Eight vehicles and 1,000 ringgit in cash were also seized.
00:47ACP Balveer said that the syndicate had been active since January, using the grocery shop
00:54to process and distribute drugs within Johor.
00:58He added that the drugs were believed to have been sourced from a neighbouring country.
01:03Urine tests on all three suspects came back negative for drugs, while background checks
01:08found that two of them have criminal records.
01:11One of the suspects, age 29, who is also the grocery shop owner, has a previous drug-related
01:17offence while another suspect, age 22, has one drug offence and three criminal offences
01:23on his record.
01:24The suspects were initially remanded until Monday and a second remand order has been
01:29approved until March 17.
01:32The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
01:39Police are tracking down the remaining members of the syndicate still at large.
