00:00The Philippine National Police also denied the widespread speculation that 7,000 police officers are preparing to arrest former President Rodrigo Duterte

00:10in the event of a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court.

00:15This is what Ryan Leziguez reported.

00:19This past weekend, the Department of Justice was discussing the issuance of a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court or ICC

00:26against former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:28This has to do with the bloody campaign of the previous administration against illegal drugs.

00:33The speculation is getting worse.

00:36Police officers are also preparing to arrest the former President.

00:41But according to PNP Spokesperson and PRO3 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo,

00:47it is not true that 7,000 police officers are preparing to arrest former President Duterte.

00:53The movement of the police in Davao is a simulation for security in the upcoming election.

01:00The movement of our police there is just part of the simulation exercise relating to their security preparation for Davao.

01:11We have to stress the point that this is not only limited to Davao.

01:15Even other regions are conducting simulation exercise, communication exercise and other tabletop exercise,

01:23again, as part of our security preparation for election.

01:27This has nothing to do with the issues relating to the alleged issuance of a warrant of arrest issued by the ICC.

01:35Fajardo clarified that they do not have a warrant of arrest against Duterte.

01:40As of now, ma'am, we do not have verifiable information as to the reported warrant of arrest issued by the ICC.

01:49PNP will not have a role in issuing a warrant of arrest to the ICC,

01:54except if the ICC or Interpol asks for help from the national police.

02:00Fajardo explained that there is an agreement between Interpol and PNP,

02:04just like what Indonesia did to arrest Alice Guo.

02:08The ICC has no way to directly give orders to PNP or any other law enforcement for that matter.

02:17We will not have a role in case the ICC issues a warrant of arrest

02:24because what we are assuming is that they will seek the assistance of Interpol.

02:28But when PNP clarified that they are ready to help the ICC or Interpol

02:33if there is a warrant of arrest against Duterte.

02:37As of now, we do not have a plan to issue a warrant of arrest.

02:41We will not initiate the process.

02:43But on the part of the PNP, we are prepared for any eventualities

02:47in case Interpol asks for help from us.
