Today Shan & RJ took a look at WFAA interviewing Mark Cuban for the first time since the blockbuster trade. Cuban shared his thoughts on the Luka deal, and his decision to sell his majority stake in the team. Cuban emphasized that if the Mavs had received a better deal, the conversation would be different. He cited the changing landscape of social media and his desire to protect his kids as reasons for selling. He acknowledged his absence has left a communication gap in the front office and expressed confidence in the Adelson camp to turn things around, drawing parallels to the team's past with Steve Nash. Despite the challenges, Cuban remains hopeful for the Mavericks' future.

00:00Mark Cuban sitting down WFAA, Mark, would you have traded Doncic and what's your relationship
00:21like with him now?
00:22I'm not going to go there.
00:23It's not, it doesn't even matter, you know, I mean, I, I saw you were at the game though
00:28in LA and I mean, that signified, I think you dapped up his, his dad and his dad, so
00:35there's got to, there's some sort of, well, there was a connection just because we traded,
00:38like I still talk to Steve Nash.
00:39I mean, I went through this before when Steve Nash left and then won two MVPs, right?
00:44The good news is that we went to the finals and won a championship.
00:49So I've been through something, but there wasn't social media back then, so it wasn't
00:52quite the same, but yeah, I mean, you're going to make mistakes.
00:58And you know, I think the biggest challenge that the Mavs have right now is there's nobody
01:04who's really outgoing to communicate and it's not so much what you do, it's how you communicate
01:10why you do what you do and that's their challenge without me in front.
01:14Do you think some of that is because they're, they're kind of new to this?
01:16I mean, they've been, I think it's just not their nature.
01:18And well, they've been also NBA owners for about a year and I mean, Nico's been GM for
01:24about a few years, but entirely, that's not a whole lot of experience.
01:28Do you feel like that's part of it?
01:29No, they're just not me, right?
01:31You can't expect them to be me where, you know, when Steve Nash left, I wrote a blog
01:34post explaining why, you know, and talking about all these things.
01:38I talked about, you know, how we traded for Luka, all these, that's what I did, you know,
01:43that was the way I connected to fans and that's the way I tried to build a connection with
01:47fans.
01:48They're just not me and that's not a bad thing.
01:50There's things they're going to do that are better than anything I can do in that regard
01:54but, you know, I still think it may take longer now, but it'll be okay.
