According to the tourist site around us The building reflects the Greek Revival architectural style of the 1840s through its symmetrical design, triglyphs, and ornate cast-iron interior elements. The limestone ashlar structure rises three stories high with giant Doric columns and featured a central banking hall in an L-shaped layout.

00:00At a time when property decisions are carefully weighed against changing interest rates, a
00:08unique opportunity has emerged in Bristol's historic heart.
00:13The Tellers Secret Loft House, a prestigious penthouse, apartments are on top the former
00:19Bank of England building.
00:21Yeah, so we are currently at the former Bank of England building on Broad Street in Bristol.
00:27And tell me a little bit about this building.
00:29Yes, so our clients purchased the building and completely refurbished it.
00:34So we've now got seven apartments that have been rented out through Airbnb.
00:40And tell me a little bit about the former Bank of England building.
00:42Obviously, it's an iconic spot in the city.
00:45Absolutely, yeah.
00:46So our clients purchased the building as the Bank of England and converted it into seven
00:53beautiful apartments.
00:55So we've got a mixture of studio apartments, one beds, two beds, and we're currently sat
01:01in the Tellers Secret Loft House apartment, which is a fabulous two straight three bedroom
01:07penthouse apartment with its own rooftop terrace overlooking Bristol.
01:12So there are seven apartments, and they're all called a name that kind of pays homage
01:17to the Bank of England building.
01:20Yeah.
01:21Tell me about that.
01:22Yeah.
01:23So we've got the Gold Penny.
01:24We've got the Sovereign Suite.
01:26So all of the names link with, yeah, banking.
01:30And tell me a little bit about the parts of the Bank of England building that have been
01:34incorporated inside to these apartments then.
01:38Yeah.
01:39So you've obviously got the fabulous entrance hall when you come in through the main front
01:43door.
01:44But then you've also got little tokens to banking.
01:48So one of the apartments has got like an old winch across the top of one of the ceilings
01:54in the bathroom, which I think used to winch safes, is what I've been told, from lower
02:01levels through the bank.
02:03So yeah.
02:04I'll show you that in a minute.
02:07So Bristol City Council, one of their aims is to build more homes for people in the city.
02:14Now, a lot of iconic structures might then face being knocked down.
02:18Obviously, you guys have kept the structure and still made homes.
02:24Why do you think that that is important, especially to the history of Bristol?
02:28Well, this is a really old, iconic building.
02:31Obviously, with banking, we all now do online banking, so there's just not the need for
02:37people to necessarily come into branch anymore with the use of apps as well.
02:43And so for whatever reason, obviously, they felt that there was no need to keep this branch
02:48running.
02:49So I think it's fantastic that they've used this building and brought more homes to Bristol
02:54where it's really needed.
