A political controversy has erupted in Bihar over the visit of Baba Bageshwar, who is holding a five-day Hanumat Katha in Gopalganj. RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan has called for the arrest of Baba Bageshwar, urging the government to ban such visits by religious figures ahead of the 2025 elections. Roshan claimed that these "fake babas" disrupt communal harmony and threaten social unity in Bihar. In response, BJP leaders, including firebrand MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachoul, criticized the RJD’s stance, emphasizing that India’s culture and identity are rooted in Hinduism and Hindu nationalism. They rejected the idea of politics being separated from religion, referencing past political movements like the freedom struggle. Baba Bageshwar, who advocates for a Hindu nation, has expressed his defiance against those opposing his visit, asserting that he will continue his mission in Bihar regardless. This heated debate reflects growing political tension in the state as elections approach.
