Bageshwar Dham's head, Dhirendra Shastri, is currently in Bihar, conducting Hanuman Katha in different parts of the state. However, before his arrival in Gopalganj, Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia, made controversial remarks about Shastri. Yadav accused Dhirendra Shastri of being a "fraud" and referred to him as a "Natbar Lal Baba." He also demanded that Shastri be banned, stating that if his party were in power, Shastri would be in jail. Yadav further criticized the BJP, claiming that the party wins elections by relying on fraudulent religious figures, like Shastri. In response, BJP leaders such as Rohini Acharya also condemned Yadav’s remarks, asserting that religious harmony in Bihar would not be disrupted by such political attacks. Acharya stressed that Bihar, known for its democratic values, would not allow divisive tactics, even if the BJP fields self-proclaimed babas for their campaign.
