Protests over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act spread across the country on Monday, December 16. Students, some sections of the civil society and opposing political parties held protests at several places urging the government to revoke the act. The bill now an act makes it easier for Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghanistan to become citizens of India. General Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) said CAA has plunged the nation into turmoil. Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee made a bold statement over politics of hatred. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi condemned Delhi Police-Jamia students clash. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan protested against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Thiruvananthapuram.
