00:00The number of cases of rabies in the country increased by 23% from 2023 to 2024 based on the health department's statistics.

00:08This is a long battle for Quezon City.

00:11That's why their veterinary department is giving free vaccines against rabies and other services this Rabies Awareness Month.

00:25It's still early, but many fur parents are heading to the Quezon Memorial Circle with their dogs and cats.

00:32Because different services are free for the pets of QC residents,

00:37such as microchipping or the planting of chips or locators on pets.

00:50If the pet is missing and there's a microchip, we can trace it.

00:56That's what Domer Esperas has planted for his five dogs,

00:59Jaguar, Twinkle, Heart, Pepper, and Ginger.

01:04Aside from being efficient, it's also cheap.

01:06He'll get 15,000 pesos if he's allowed to do it outside.

01:10We also avoid being robbed.

01:12We have proof that our name is on it.

01:15Because our name is on it, our address, our number.

01:18It's also free for the cats.

01:20According to the Quezon City Veterinary Department,

01:2260% of the number of cats was increased in the past five years.

01:27We need to control overpopulation so that we can sustain our ability to vaccinate every dog every year.
