00:00Look at my knees though. Oh my gosh, just finding those new muscles that I haven't worked out in a while
00:16Oh, that's a you look insane I just love you anyways
00:19Look
00:26Good morning guys, welcome back to the vlog and welcome
00:31To freezing cold weather. It is currently 19 degrees in Texas
00:36I just got back from taking the baby to my mom's house. She's gonna watch him all day
00:40This is like a full day from 10 to 6 today
00:43I'm going to dive into projects and I really wish that it wasn't so cold
00:48But we're making do I do have to spend some time working outside because I have to cut some wood for the door frames
00:54And we're working on perfecting the doors to go into the bathroom
00:58So like I'm gonna be out there doing stuff, but I'm so happy that they were able to get our gas lines
01:05Completed and fixed so that we could turn on the fire because we actually depend a lot on
01:10The fireplace in the front living room to heat the old portion of the house
01:16Because we weren't able to
01:18Insulate that portion of the house as well as we were the addition because the walls were exposed and stuff
01:24All of our windows are old. It's not modern-day materials that you would use. I salvaged everything from
01:30115 years ago, so we still need to skirt portions of the house, which I wish I would have done it sooner
01:36But I'm actually glad that I didn't because they had to do all of this gas line work. They would have needed access
01:42So I'm like everything happens for a reason and we have to fix the
01:46Fireplace mantel and stuff that was where the main problem was was around the fireplace
01:50They had to gain access to where the line came up
01:53And so I had to cut a hole in the front of the fireplace. So we had to remove the fireplace mantle
01:57It was a whole thing fixable very fixable built it first. I could do it again. No problem
02:02But you know another thing to add to the list of things to do also made me happy. I'm like, wow
02:07I'm really glad I didn't finish off the inside of that fireplace mantel because we just had to completely remove it
02:11To get access. What would I have done? I don't know
02:13I mean, I guess we would have found another solution
02:15But like it was nice to just be able to unscrew the mantle and pull it off instead of like damaging a lot
02:21So here we are and we're fixing it. So I'm getting a little bit ready so I can dive into finishing
02:28Grouting the floors today and working on the doors. Those are like my two jobs today and after like a few days of
02:36You know packing up the baby stuff and bringing him to my mom's to watch
02:40It's working. I mean we have like a rhythm. It's it's going really really well
02:45I also don't want to like overload my mom, too
02:48So there's some mornings that it's just like a half day or we keep him and stuff
02:51So it's a really balanced kind of thing. Sometimes. I just don't want to let him go. Let's spend a little more time with him
02:57It's like a full day with my mom a half day with my mom and then not with my mom and then a full day
03:02You know like we've got a good rhythm. Like I feel like it's it's going good
03:05I've been working on grouting the bathroom floors. My body is definitely sore
03:10Just using those muscles. I haven't used in a while my what is this triceps biceps tricep like here and
03:20here I
03:21Think from like going like this like scooping like, you know
03:24Like spreading the grout around and then the sponge, you know
03:29Like it's a lot of like upper body just finding those new muscles that I haven't worked out in a while
03:33So I hope you guys have been enjoying the vlogs since we've been back in Texas
03:37You get to see so much more like life here and behind the scenes. We haven't really like gone very many places
03:45I've just kind of been like staying local. We just went into town
03:48That one time to you know, get groceries and stuff. I've also been doing lots of mom doing stuff
03:53Like Kinsley had a vet appointment. She's gonna have a grooming here in a couple of days
03:57Balancing everything work new baby, you know trying to make it make it all work
04:02I brought all of my makeup here with me when I was traveling
04:05Because I was running out of
04:07Quite a bit of things like my favorites. I don't really have access to that kind of stuff here
04:13So I think I'm gonna have to order online like on Sephora or something
04:18Like this is getting very low this slip tint from say my contour is getting really low
04:25It'll contour all the time. So it's not too bad
04:29moisturizer it cosmetics is getting low to
04:33I think I have probably another week out of it actually and this and if this gets low, I'm gonna be so sad
04:39Okay, I need to get work clothes on but warmer work clothes today
04:45Marty feeling the cold I have to go outside and rinse my bucket. I have to put my hands in water in 19-degree weather
04:52Great. I need to clean my sponge
04:54I
04:58Think it's too cold out here for your paws
05:01Oh my god
05:06It frozen
05:11It's frozen it's frozen
05:19When a camel here is first it's freezing temperatures dumb I should have drained that hose that's my mess up
05:27I'm frozen
05:30We left the water
05:31Dripping inside so they didn't freeze overnight. It's so cold and they're coming back to insulate our
05:38Water, what's my other plan? What do I do? I
05:43Gotta think. Okay, I'm gonna have to fill my bucket
05:46With water from the bathtub, but I can't drain this like down the drain. I don't put it on the drains
05:51I'm gonna have to fill it and throw it outside and fill it throw it aside until I get it clean
05:56I
06:01Think this is warm water in here. No ice cold. No for sure. I almost just want to stay in here
06:07I can't believe it froze. I mean, I can't leave it. I should have drained it last night now
06:12We have to just wait till deep broth like in two days
06:20Okay, I'm gonna get to work
06:23Did it
06:25One stage of the bathroom look at my knees though. Oh
06:30My gosh, I should have I found one of my knee pads
06:33I was like, oh I should put these on and then I totally forgot to put them on and I kept complaining
06:37I'm like, oh
06:38Every time I would move I'm like this hurt my knees cuz you're on this hard floor like moving around and stuff
06:43It was fine. This stage is done. Now. I can't go back in there until it completely dries
06:48And I can do the next stage but I can't work outside. It's warmed up a little bit. It's I think it's like 30
06:55Yes
06:5733
06:59Little warm and the Sun came out
07:00I think my hose outside is almost defrosted to it let a little bit of water out but not not a ton
07:05I'm gonna go grab something to eat a little bit. Okay, I'm gonna change. I don't need to do anything like well
07:12Sure, just go like this. I
07:14Look insane his face
07:17Yeah
07:18Yeah, go like this or yeah, I look insane
07:21No, I mean, oh that's a you look insane. I just love you. Anyways, look made it back from lunch and it is
07:29350 now I have about an hour and 45 minutes left of work and I'm trying to figure out the doors again
07:37back to the doors because now I'm to the point where okay, I got to build the frames or see if I have a frame in
07:42the back and
07:44It's all that's like kind of where I'm at. So I have like my paper out and I'm just like don't understand why
07:50I had a door labeled
07:53That it was for the main bathroom and it's so much smaller than the opening that sounds wrong
07:59That's like wrong
08:00like I did these openings and I planned for there not to be very much space that I had to fill in between the doorframe and
08:06Like the opening that makes sense
08:08I don't know if I'm making sense and I would have done it to where there was already a pretty decent fit
08:15right, so if this opening is
08:1738 inches and I only would have needed
08:20Enough space for the doorframe wood size. So I would need three quarters on each side. So an inch and a half
08:26No way, I'm using a 33 and a three quarters inch door
08:30I know I throw a lot of numbers at you, but like that's too much. There's too much space
08:35It's it ends up being like I have almost three inches of space
08:39That's weird. So how do I have planned for another door to go there?
08:44So I'm back here trying to see if I can find my plan like I had like a document that I made
08:52I just like don't know where it is
08:54I have some like paperwork and stuff in here that I'm thinking like invoices and maybe it's in this box
09:01I would have kept it obviously here all the sketches
09:05For each room when I was like designing like the layout in the entryway
09:09I didn't talk about this in the video of the tour that I did on my other channel
09:13But I do want to put some decor in the entryway itself, you know
09:16like have a rug maybe a center round table to walk around or like a
09:22Table behind the couch something like that like to fill out that area because it's just open
09:27This is the bathroom that we're working on but reversed
09:32So like the linen closet is actually over there because I actually moved the bathroom
09:37Towards the back of the property
09:39Originally it didn't it had the closet on the end and I was like, oh no, that's not smart
09:44I would rather a lot of sunlight come in in the bathroom and have another window back there then have the closet on the end
09:50So I kind of like redesigned it but this is gonna come in handy. I'm gonna keep this
09:55Oh, I'd like sketched it all out to perspectives, you know, because I think it was helpful
10:00You know, like this is what it looks like in my head
10:02But sometimes when I'm like sharing my projects online, it's hard to envision when I'm just talking about it
10:08so I tried my best to do like a like perspective drawings like this so that
10:13You guys could also see kind of like what it would look like and what we were working on
10:19workbook
10:22It was like an actual what was that it's like an actual document
10:29This is our I had to make the plinths those are the pieces they actually look like this
10:35It's like a side profile. They go at the bottom of our
10:39Doors and windows and I actually found one that was already made that matched ours
10:45So I had to have some new ones made because we didn't have enough when they built this house
10:49They only prioritized the pretty trim in like two rooms and then the rest were just like flat pieces of wood
10:56you know, they spent the money in the front of the house and then they just
10:59Used simple wood for probably was cheaper, but I wanted to carry that same look throughout the whole house
11:05So I had to have it like made
11:09What that is or why I kept it that doesn't make any sense to me
11:19God oh
11:20I'm actually really glad I found this because this is all the handles too because I had planned out all the hardware
11:26There's like two pages, this is only one now, where's the other page?
11:38There's the first page
11:40Okay. Yay. Okay. What was I doing main bathroom? It was 36 inches
11:47That's not that is not the right door. Oh, I switched them
11:53Okay, we're going on an adventure in the cold, I don't have any more doors here there's no more doors here and this is for the pantry
12:02Hi donkey, I wonder what his name is
12:09Now that I have my my sheet I can actually tell like what I'm kind of looking for I
12:16See it I
12:18See it it's right there is right behind it's right behind that one
12:22That's the door. She's actually kind of cool. Like what if I did like
12:27Some textured glass in the bathroom door or like do something to the glass or something
12:35But it's still in good shape, you know, like it's not like a big sand situation that needs to happen
12:41Yep
12:47Cuz ideally you'd want like the entrance to a main room like a bathroom or bedroom
12:53You'd want it to be at least 36 inches wide
12:56You know like the wider the opening on like a main door is like always preferred or better
13:02You never know like what you're gonna have to scooch in there or get in there. Good accessibility
13:08Access is 36 inches. So I'm glad I kept thinking about that. I'm like, that's wrong. That's wrong. I wouldn't have done that, you know
13:16I'm calling Romeo. Oh my god. My hands are frozen. I found it come out to the shed
13:23So it's very minimal
13:30Just gonna look for some inspo
13:32Because cold inspo for like the glass like we could do something cool like not just like replace it with like something solid or
13:40Okay, so I have been doing some measurements. This is kind of the first step in
13:47Figuring out any of the measurements for like door frames and what size the transom windows
13:53Need to be on top of the doors and stuff
13:55It's like I've kind of got to sit down with like my thoughts
13:58Especially after being so long doing some of them
14:02so I've been measuring the other doors that I've already made those transom windows above them and
14:07Remembering like the standards that I wanted to set for each of them
14:10So they all have like some consistency throughout the house thinking about the glass
14:16Started just like on Pinterest and I typed in like vintage
14:19glass door like bathrooms with glass doors and really
14:23Come up with anything besides like like the film on the glass that kind of said like toilet
14:28I don't I don't want that. That's not what I'm going for
14:31But then I remembered I had seen some like privacy
14:36decals like basically stickers
14:38Clear like frosted or design stickers like similar to this one. I found this one online and I kind of liked it
14:46Because I'm like, well, maybe I could take some inspiration from the front door
14:51The front door is this is not a sticker. Obviously. This is like real textured glass star
14:58Shapes if you can kind of see it's like maybe like that type of like kind of like
15:04Idea we could bring into the bathroom because what I like to do is the projects to be inspired, you know
15:09Buy something that's original to the house or salvage from the house and like this situation that we're in right now
15:14Like we're gonna be able to have this extra detail because the door I'm using has glass
15:19I could always go around of like popping out the glass and putting in like some stained glass or even just another panel
15:27But like I kind of want to see what this like film looks like because it's $9.99
15:32And it has a hundred and two good reviews
15:35So I looked at some of the other pictures that people had posted and it looked decent
15:39I found this other one that was on Etsy, but it was from someone in
15:45Australia and that would be
15:47That would take a long time and people did say that it came in nothing like the picture so that worries me
15:52I don't want to go that route. It's like a 3d one
15:55So I don't want to chance it
15:56You know the Amazon thing is gonna come pretty quickly
15:58So I at least I can see like what it's kind of gonna look like because we can always return it now
16:02The Sun comes out and it feels a little bit warmer
16:06550
16:07Pick up my baby. I'm in this
16:10Especially since it got cold and I was like I can't go outside. I mean I can't come wood tonight
16:14I'll wait until it warms up and then just like make all of
16:18My list of my cuts so that I can minimize the time that I spend outside
16:22I'll just start to prioritize some indoor stuff for right now. Just so I don't like suffer outside
16:36I'm very punctual
16:39With my picking up my baby, I don't know if this is something that I've ever talked about
16:44I do not like to be late for things, but that was not always me
16:48I've definitely missed my fair share of flights for being late. Not like
16:52really
16:54Figuring out what time I needed to get where and things take too long like TSA was too long and I've missed I think I've
16:59Missed like three or four flights. I used to fly all the time. I think
17:03Maybe maybe not four maybe two or three as I got older
17:08I just wanted to get it gives me so much anxiety to be late to things that I started giving myself more and more and
17:14More time because I just rather have the time to get somewhere and not stress
17:19Because I just have such a better time like it's really it's it's really self-serving, you know being on time
17:33I
18:03Just drop the baby off so it's gonna be a full day
18:19You never know I haven't been to a thrift store over here in a while
18:22I don't know what you find just open this small so you can take a look. Oh, it's still cold
18:28It is warmer, but it's still cold
18:31This thrift store moved location since I've been here. Well, I knew the building was for sale. I finally sold it
18:46This tree
18:56Punchbowl glasses
19:00I'm looking for a punchbowl
19:02This is a sweet one
19:04A lot of cups
19:10Here's another one $5.00 see this one I think I like better
19:17I found the Christmas corner. I love a Christmas corner
19:21I
19:28Like this punchbowl, but the glasses punchbowl glasses don't seem practical to me at all they seem like
19:39Made it back and we've actually been working on bathroom things
19:41I like to clean the floor again after finishing like the grout and for some reason I can't get it
19:47I think I'm gonna have to like like really
19:50Deep scrub each tile. I don't know. I can't like it has like a cloud to it. That is unusual
19:58It didn't happen to me when I did the same tile work in the laundry room
20:01It's a work in progress
20:02but you know
20:03I want to make sure that I've gotten all of the grout residue off of the tiles before I put the sealer on because I
20:09Don't want it to like trap in that kind of like cloudy grout color thing on the tile. It's it's weird
20:15You'll see Romeo's been like sanding doors and I like assessed all of the wood that I have so that I can make the door
20:22Frame, so we've been working
20:23periodically trying to not freeze
20:26The gloves helped like being outside like wearing gloves. Ooh
20:31Romeo's making
20:33What a chicken Caesar salad
20:38Chipotle chicken Caesar
20:41It's hot oh and I got my punch bowl, I think it's so cute
20:45I like the like saw to like along the top. It was $5 and I'm gonna carry it back
20:52I love even the bottom pretty the bottom is I don't like I said in the store
20:57I don't know if you could hear me, but I
20:59Don't really like punch bowl cups
21:02originally, I was like
21:03I want a set of punch cups and like the whole thing like the ladle and the punch bowl and the cups
21:10But the cups for the punch bowls are so tiny. It's like a taste
21:14And like the way I just don't feel like they're practical and I have beautiful
21:20glasses, you know for
21:22To drink so like when we do like holidays and parties and I make a punch everyone drink my punch for Christmas, huh?
21:28Yeah a family
21:30Love the idea like a pomegranate. I can't remember
21:35Christmas feels like so
21:37January
21:39I'm gonna carry this back with me and then just use my own cups
21:42And now I just need to find a really pretty ladle. I saw a ladle in there
21:47But it was plastic and I want like a pretty one or two people use plastic. I don't want a plastic one
21:55We just need to get off the $5 Sharpie, oh and I got a little plate for me
22:00I thought that was so sweet. This one was $8 actually
22:04Lancaster England RF
22:07Really pretty I love it. I've been kind of
22:11Collecting a few beautiful blue plates that are in, you know
22:15Various like designs and shapes and stuff and I think I want to do some plates somewhere like hang them on the wall
22:21But in like a really intentional way
22:23So I've been gathering and I got one thing for the pop-up shop, but I'm not going to be buying anything more
22:30I'm not buying any this is not the goal but to buy more
22:34We have plenty but this was so unique that I like had it was just different I've never seen a little
22:42like this
22:44How cute was that it was on a pedestal I thought it was
22:49Different if I'm gonna pick something else up that I don't already have
22:52I want it to be something like unique and different because we're doing it online now
22:57Everything else was kind of gathered with the goal of doing it in person. So I have a lot of breakable stuff
23:02This is breakable too, but at least it's like, I don't know unique something but not gonna be gathering anything else
23:07But I thought that would be pretty so I'm gonna put that over you
23:11Thanks, babe. This looks really good
23:18Head outside with my list of cuts
23:23and
23:24built some door frames and
23:26Then like I told my mom I was like, yeah
23:27I'm gonna put in the doors and she's like I think it's gonna help a lot with the way that room feels
23:31Because it's just so exposed like you're kind of right. It's kind of just like
23:38Open this is so unfinished. Anyways, okay. I'll be back you guys
23:46Hi
23:48my Craig pocket hole jig
23:51If you know, you know if you ever used one, it's a tool to make pocket holes to like assemble things together
23:57It's been in the box and safe, but I remember it started like sticking
24:01I didn't have any WD-40 like like stuff to spray on it to like make it like easier because it was like rusting
24:09Cuban here got our avocado oil
24:12That we cook with but it worked went in a pinch. You can always figure out
24:18Something I'm so cold at this point that I'm completely numb during these months when it was really cold
24:23And I still wanted to do projects and I had to use
24:26Like tools outside or everything was exposed and it was even cold in the house when I was renovating
24:32I just had to like suck it up and you kind of
24:36Overcome it you kind of like acclimate a little bit like my toes are frozen finished outside for today. It is
24:44550 so it's time to go pick up Kate. We pick up the baby. We're gonna run back to the hardware store
24:48I was drilling and broke my Craig pocket hole like screw that makes the hole in the wood
24:54It popped
24:57That's the second time I've done that they don't like I've done that before so I need one of those and I also need some
25:02sealer the impregnating sealer for the
25:05Tile and I need some Bondo for the doors and some wood
25:10I thought I was gonna have kind of enough to do the project
25:12I wanted to use I want to use up what I have on the property and I just
25:17Use the last piece. I thought I was gonna have enough. So three trips to the hardware store per project is usually how it goes
25:24I
25:31Come pretty this tile is it's called a moffy and moffy like the Amalfi Coast like it's so cute. I love that
25:39That's the first time I've seen something like that
25:41hardware store
25:45That was kind of an expensive bit that I broke
25:49I
25:56Can't believe I broke it I
25:58Need it. I use a lot. Hey, they did not have the width that I needed
26:02It's like all the balance of like getting the right size that I can kind of slim down without a lot of waste at the
26:08right price, you know like but also the
26:11best quality kind of like
26:14Common boards and if you ever go to the hardware store common boards always have lots of knots and they're just like lower
26:20Quality like common boards are like white boards
26:24Poplar and select boards are kind of a step above and that's usually what I go for
26:30Like these are like the the white boards
26:34You see all the knots like if I paint that you're still gonna be able to see it and it's not great smooth
26:42I could fill them but that's a lot more work. So better wood. Okay. See this is probably poplar. Yeah poplar
26:49you see how it's like
26:51Nothing like this paints really really well, you can also get pre-primed stuff
26:56Sometimes is actually ends up being cheaper. But see I just found the primed pine boards
27:03They're much cheaper like $10 a piece cheaper
27:06I don't know what that is or how they do that
27:09But then they're like already primed. So it's like less work and it's saving money. It's like if you're gonna paint them
27:17Those also it has better like
27:19options and I do
27:22It's similar to what we had in the house because I know I'm getting kind of low profile
27:29Like that, which is very similar and I remember seeing it before like kind of like a window stop or a door
27:39You
