00:31In other news, the Department of Transportation will implement changes to the EDSA busway

00:38so that the journey will be faster and more comfortable.

00:44Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon will also respond to this.

01:04On the first day of the Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon's appointment,

01:08he personally tried to ride the EDSA busway from Ortigas to Monumento

01:13to see the problems that the commuters are facing.

01:17He noticed the lack of clear wayfinders in the busway and MRT 3 stations,

01:23broken timers in the bus stops,

01:25uncontrollable railings in the doors,

01:27and broken elevators.

01:29He also emphasized the tight dispatching system

01:32for the Integrated Terminal Exchange PITX and Monumento stations

01:37so that the buses can leave at the right time.

01:40The Secretariat of Transportation explained that in order to avoid the congestion of the passengers

01:44of the busway and MRT 3,

01:46a separate concourse for the busway passengers must be built.

01:50According to Secretary Dizon,

01:51DOT will copy the design of the model busway stations

01:55that were donated by a mall for other EDSA busway stations.

01:59We're going to start the process of bidding out

02:04for the improvement of the stations for this year.

02:09So there's budget allocated

02:11and we will use the model station of SM North EDSA and SM Mega Mall.

02:16We will replicate those in all the other 21 stations.

02:21Additionally, the operation and maintenance of the EDSA busway

02:24is under privatization as part of the long-term plan for the busway system.

02:30Its feasibility study will be completed within a few months

02:33and the MEA Award is expected to be completed before 2026.

02:36Meanwhile, Secretary Dizon will open the scope of the operating hours of the MRT and LRT

02:41for the benefit of commuters.

02:43His easiest way is to add two hours to the operating hours.

02:47He admitted that the maintenance of the MRT and LRT is a big challenge

02:51but he insisted that the benefit of the passengers should be prioritized.
