00:00The Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Information Agency, and the National Youth Commission joined forces
00:05to further broaden the youth's knowledge on the issue of the West Philippine Sea.
00:10The Philippine Information Agency's Jennie Redd has the details on the country's news.
00:17The youth are the hope of the country.
00:19That's why the new agreement signed by the Philippine Coast Guard,
00:23Philippine Information Agency, and the National Youth Commission
00:26to further broaden the youth's knowledge on the issue of the West Philippine Sea.
00:31From the so-called agreement or Memorandum of Understanding
00:35signed by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gavan,
00:38PIA Director General Catherine de Castro, and NYC Chairperson Joseph Ortega,
00:43steps will be taken to spread the right knowledge
00:48and protect the youth from misinformation.
00:52We will ensure that our youth will not be easily misled
00:56by the misinformation about the West Philippine Sea.
01:09For NYC Chairperson Joseph Ortega, this agreement is important.
01:22My name is Joseph Ortega. I am from the West Philippine Sea.
01:25I trained with the Coast Guard. I did local service with them.
01:29And I believe that one of the things that we can work out from this partnership
01:34is how we can help our youth.
01:36Basic life support, what is the best thing,
01:40but at least they have a sense of ownership with the different organs of the country.
01:48For Princess Awal Maringit, a student from Ramon Avanzaña High School,
01:53it is important that the youth understand these issues
01:56so that we can have a better discourse about the West Philippine Sea.
02:01We need to know about it because, of course, as a youth, you also have a voice.
02:06You also have the ability to know and inform other people
02:11about what is happening in the issue of the West Philippine Sea.
02:14And if people know about it, of course, they will not remain silent.
02:18They will not be silent.
02:20And they will say what is inside of them, or what they know about this issue.
02:25This is also a step for the future of the country
02:28where we have youths who have a deeper and broader understanding
02:32of the issues of the Philippine Sea, sovereignty, and freedom.
02:37From the Philippine Information Agency, National Capital Region,
02:40I am Red Balitang Pambansa.
