BYD, the world leader in plug-in and battery-electric vehicles, has just strengthened its presence in the European market with the launch of the BYD ATTO 2, a 100% electric urban SUV that incorporates the innovative Cell to Body (CTB) technology for the first time in its segment. Thanks to this architecture, the BYD ATTO 2, which combines a compact design with advanced safety and efficiency technologies, offers superior safety and driving experience.
Debuted in the BYD SEAL and also used in the BYD SEALION 7 sports SUV, the revolutionary Cell to Body (CTB) technology guarantees unprecedented levels of safety, torsional rigidity, dynamism, use of interior space and efficiency, opening up new possibilities in the design and manufacture of electric vehicles.
The key to this architecture lies in the integration of BYD’s Blade Battery, renowned for its safety and durability, directly into the vehicle frame, so that the battery acts as both a power source and an ultra-safe structural component, with a ring-shaped frame housing the battery at the centre. This not only reduces the overall weight and space required for battery placement, but also simplifies the vehicle assembly process. BYD’s design integrates the top cover of the battery pack into the frame by forming a sandwich structure incorporating the top cover, the Blade Battery itself and the bottom cover, all with a high-strength honeycomb aluminium panel structure that further enhances vehicle safety.
