The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) has presented its International Awards today in Madrid, which recognise the best cars launched on the market in recent months in different categories. WWCOTY is an international organization of women automotive journalists with a global audience of more than 500 million people around the world.
The jury, made up of 82 professional journalists working in 55 countries on different continents, votes to recognise the best cars of the year for their design, safety, efficiency and innovation, among other aspects.
WWCOTY President, Marta García, highlighted “the challenge of developing this award and the effort of the journalists who are part of the jury. Every of them drives thousands of kilometres before casting their vote”
The award-winning models in the different categories were:
• The Mini Cooper as Best Urban Car, which was collected by Carlos Martínez Gil, director of Mini Ibérica
• The award for Best Compact SUV went to the Kia EV3, which was collected by Eduardo Divar, general manager of Kia Spain
• The Audi A6 e-tron received the maximum score as Best Sedan and the award was collected by Ignacio González, director of Communications and External Relations of Audi in Spain.
• The Hyundai Santa Fe was named Best Large SUV and the award was received by the president of Hyundai Motor Spain, Leopoldo Satrústegui.
• The Toyota LandCruiser was named Best 4x4 and Rebeca Guillén, general manager of Communications and Marketing of Toyota Spain was responsible for collecting the award.
• The Porsche Panamera achieved the maximum score for Best Sports Car, an award that was collected by Beatriz Cobo, Public Relations and Communications at Porsche Ibérica.
• The award for Best Technology went to the Blade batteries and the BYD DM system, which was collected in Madrid by Alberto de Aza, CEO of the brand for Spain and Portugal.
• The Sandy Myhre Award for the brand most committed to women went to Volvo and the award was presented to the CEO of Volvo Car Spain, José María Galofré.
In their thanks, the award winners acknowledged the important role played by women in the development of the automotive industry and the manufacturers' commitment to diversity and equality. The Spanish association of official dealers (FACONAUTO) participated in the event.
